Windows on the Sea is just across the street from Beach in the Ocean Hammock Resort, overlooking the sixth hole of the Ocean Hammock Golf Course. But you don’t have to leave the lavish six-bedroom house to enjoy resort amenities: Windows on the Sea has a private pool and spa, theater and game rooms, a pool table, two master suites, and even an elevator!
The heated pool and the hot tub are in the screened-in lanai, surrounded by plenty of seating. A summer kitchen and a casual dining area complete the scene, so you can spend all day "outside" in your very own paradise. But if you did, you’d be missing out on the 5,000-plus square feet of indoor delights!
Just steps from the lanai is the ground-floor master suite, ideal for anyone with accessibility issues. This expansive suite includes a king-size bed, an HDTV, and an en-suite bath. It shares the ground floor with a large game room that will keep the troops entertained for hours, thanks to its huge HDTV, comfy sofas and chairs, and pool table. There’s even a wet bar that’s larger than the kitchenettes of many an apartment!
Ride the elevator (or walk the steps, of course) up to the second floor, where you’ll find a living space that’s nothing short of magnificent. Thanks to the massive windows, you’re never out of sight of the sea in here. The great room has its own entertainment center, complete with an HDTV and all its accessories, so that your group can enjoy a favorite movie together or watch a big game. If you’d like to enjoy a bit of quiet time or a one-on-one chat, head out to one of the patios: You can choose from a view of the golf course or of the spectacular beach and the Atlantic Ocean.
Adjacent to the great room is the dining room, another impeccably furnished space. The long table can fit at least eight people with ease. For less formal meals, try the sun-splashed breakfast bar. It fronts the gourmet kitchen, a trove of granite countertops, sparkling new appliances, a central island, and custom cabinetry. Open the cupboards and the full complement of cookware, dishes, and utensils is revealed—everything you need to prepare and serve a feast!
Also on second floor are two bedrooms. One has a queen-size bed, an HDTV, and an en-suite bath—but believe it or not, that’s not the second master suite! The master suite is nothing short of palatial, with a sitting area, a king-size bed, an HDTV, balcony access, and a bath with a walk-in shower, a deep soaking tub, and dual vanities.
All that, and we still haven’t even explored the third floor. If you thought the views from the second-floor balconies were stunning, wait till you gaze out at the ocean from the third floor! Three bedrooms occupy this floor: Two have king-size beds, while the third is a kids' room with two double beds, easily sleeping four little ones. There’s a theater room on this floor too, with graduated seating and a professional-quality projector and sound system. Movie night takes on a whole new meaning!
Three garages will keep your cars out of the sun. A laundry room takes care of all those wet swimsuits and beach towels, and two new sleeper sofas are available to accommodate overnight guests or serve as the setting for a slumber party among the kids.
Because Windows on the Sea is set within the gated Ocean Hammock community, you’ll have private access to Beach, which is just a short walk away. My family of 14 just spent 3 nts here as a last hooray before school. The property is beautiful, large, spacious, extremely well-appointed. The interior is well done with high end details right down to the crown molding and fixtures. Although it is not beachfront, the walk to the beach is easy and in fact, the view of the beach is fairly unobstructed from the front. Speaking of views, there are balconies on the 2nd and 3rd floors, both front and back so you either have a view of the beach or a view of the golf course. The pool and spa are heated. The elevator is very convenient to pack and unpack your things. There is a poker table and pool table to enjoy and there are TVs with On Demand, netflix, etc. The movie theater was a hit with the kids.
Here's the "but"...The property is located in a very nice, high-end neighborhood, nestled among private, non-rental properties. The neighborhood is gated with very tight security, which is nice, however if you are renting a home here for a vacation, be prepared to be treated TERRIBLY. My family and I have never felt so unwanted in any rental ever. From the very strict roll-call at the gate (children included; make sure you have EACH member of the vehicle accounted for on your pre-completed registration you have already emailed to the security gate) to the stares and leers from the security personnel as soon as you are known to NOT be a homeowner. My husband in fact was told that he needed to move aside (and quickly) bc homeowners were behind him in line and needed to get through. There are rule sheets handed out at the gate to add to the set of rules you were emailed prior to even checking in. And if you forget the rules, there are rules posted in at least ten locations throughout the house so you can't deny you ever saw them. We had maintenance people come to and onto the property without warning, without announcement (the pool guy came while we were home and did something (?) and the internet guy came). The printed parking pass has a gate code for the Cinnamon Beach gate so as to access that part of the neighborhood. The rule sheet we were given at the gate also gave us direction about the Cinnamon Beach Recreation Center but to our shock, surprise, embarrassment (?), we were sternly notified by paper left on our windshield that we were, in fact, NOT ALLOWED at the Recreation Center. We left shamefully. The house is beautiful and we wanted to be there. Just know that no one else does.
So I have to start by saying that the view was great and the house was beautiful, but the only reason why I would never give it a 5 star was because of the poor customer service that was received to book this rental. I booked it for a corporate meeting for 3 days with 11 guests. I understand the contract and the rules but if I had a question about anything I had to resort to email because I could never get them on the phone no matter what time of day. Their way of speaking to the customer was rude and demanding. After asking for certain accommodations and not getting a response, they did expect an immediate response back from me. The fact that the app they offer doesn't have all the departure rules and there was different rules on the papers around the house was inconsistent because I followed the app instructions but then on the house I had to go back and remove the sheets off the beds which I thought was ridiculous if we had a cleaning person coming why were the guests in charge of putting the sheets in the washer? That just seemed absurd. A gentlemen came to clean the pool while we were there, didn't knock or anything just came into the house. No respect for the guests at all.
Worst experience with the customer service. The house may be beautiful but if you plan to rent it out and you have to work with people you may as well just sell it, because with this type of service the house won't get rented.
Our stay was great. Lots of space, clean and perfect for our family of 13. Only problems we had were garbage that wasn't picked up from last rental and we had to buy a tank of gas for BBQ. Tank there was empty. The theater was a big hit.
We had a great time . Only problem we had and was same problem last time we stayed. Is we get a house with a pool lets have the temp set for the time of the year so we can enjoy it!!!!!
Plenty of space, great kitchen. We had some technical difficulties with the pool and some of the televisions, but otherwise fabulous
