Perfectly situated for walking around Savannah. Beautifully decorated, many wonderful resources provided for getting around Savannah as well as some great books about the area. All the comforts of home and then some. A perfect spot whether you've been to Savannah before or if it's your first time.
The Artist House was a lovely place to stay and is well designed for a family with 2 children due to the second bedroom having twin beds. We stayed here with another couple (already knowing about the twin beds) but the location was so perfect to walk everywhere that we decided to suck it up and one couple would have twin beds! Even though there were travelers in the upstairs unit, we were never bothered by any noise and barely knew they were there. The house itself is comfortable and has all of the cool character and charm you would expect an old house to have. We are already planning another visit to Savannah and we would definitely book this home again if available!
Had a wonderful stay at Lower Artist's House! The accommodations were just as advertised. Very clean and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The Crystal Beer Parlor is less than 5 minute walk and we highly recommend the crab stew. Tybee Island is a 30 minute drive and beautiful. Would definitely recommend this house to others!
Our family stayed here for 4 nights in October and the house was a perfect home base while we explored Savannah. This was our 5th trip to Savannah and I wanted the chance to "live like a local". The house was meticulously clean and had every amenity one could think of to make the house feel like home. During our stay, we had a small issue with a cabinet door. Chuck and Deb were there the next morning to repair it.
We cooked most of our meals in the house, so the dishwasher was very much appreciated. My husband and son grilled out on the charcoal smoker at least twice during our short stay. The house is within walking distance to the Kroger store, Forsyth Park and the Crystal Beer Parlor.
The only thing I can think of to improve the house would be to add a thicker foam mattress pad to the bed in the master bedroom. I realize that mattress firmness is a matter of personal preference, but we had a difficult time sleeping because the bed was rather hard. Other than that minor issue, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would come back in a heartbeat!
Thank you, Chuck and Deb, for providing such a homey place to stay.
My adult son and I stayed in this lovely home for a week at the end of February and beginning of March. It was really perfect. The owners, Chuck and Deb, have obviously put a lot of work, love and thought into making everything just so. It's a beautiful old house with soaring ceilings and original floors and moldings. The furnishings were tasteful and comfortable. The artwork, most of it by Chuck, was very nice and the house was well and generously stocked with everything we could need. A binder with all sorts of information about the area, including menus and brochures and maps, was extremely helpful. Lots of books, movies and even music related to Savannah was available throughout the house. The courtyard was magnificent and peaceful, and with the weather in the 70s, it was a welcome respite to our cold winter up North. The neighborhood is safe and quiet, and the parking was right outside. Forsyth Park was two blocks away and all of the historic district sights and restaurants were very close by. Tybee Island was a 20-minute drive away. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about The Artist's House. We had a wonderful, relaxing time, and I cannot wait to return here in the near future. I had often heard people talk about Southern Hospitality. Now I know what they meant.
We LOVED this house, and its location. We are three adults visiting Savannah for the first time, as a reunion. We stayed in the downstairs 2 bedroom unit. The house has everything you could ask for. Loved the courtyard and spent many hours there with a cup of coffee or bottle of wine. The bicycles provided an easy way to see every inch of the historic district since my husband has a "foot issue" and cannot walk long distances. We could have spent the entire time at the house and been happy there, but this city has so much to see and do! The kitchen was very well equipped, the beds were comfy, the living room is spacious with plenty of cozy couches! Loved that we could keep the back door to the patio opened and fill the home with the perfect breeze. We met the owner, Chuck and he is very friendly with helpful suggestions for our visit. So very convenient having our own parking spot also, which many homes do not have. We will be back, hopefully soon!
nearby Forsyth Park for walking or jogging, playing frisbee, picnicking, basketball court and tennis, music festivals.
