About Anna or Michael

Micheal Gordon moved from Philidelphia to Matlacha to find some tranquility but instead found Anna DeMeo his partner in this property. Both Anna and Michael live in Matlacha, and are available to answer questions about the area and it's many activities.

Anna or Michael purchased this house in 2005

Why Anna or Michael chose Pine Island

The lovely waterfront location and the friendly small town community. Old Florida at it's best! Quaint, off the beaten path of tourist traps, but still only 10 minutes away from all the ammenities of the town of Cape Coral and Fort Myers.

What makes this house unique

Cool breezes, Abundant wildlife, beautiful sunsets.

It's like being on a houseboat without getting seasick!

You wake up in the morning to see the pretty bay right

from your bed. The birds fly overhead and the dolpins

come to greet you. A short walk to the coffe shop for

breakfast and conversation with the town folk makes it just perfect!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for the kind words. We all loved hearing you sing, and playing the guitar and harmonica on the back deck at Fernando's and at Bert's.

Fabulous in every way!

  • 5 of 5

This place exceeded our expectations and so did Anna! What was so great? The view of the water and birds from the very comfortable bed, couch, dining table, and kitchen. The deck and dock were wonderful, fishing and kayaking were great (nice kayaks supplied), there is a well-equipped kitchen, beautiful decor outside and in, including the amazing lizard-design in the bedroom floor tile. Very clean (and I am very fussy about this)! Surprisingly quiet for such a convenient location - an easy walk to the wonderful coffee shop although Anna supplies their good coffee if you want to stay in - and it really is hard to pull yourself away from this spot - we wanted to move in permanently! Highly recommend!

Henry and Mary Brown

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in La Casita for a weekend fishing trip June 3rd. the cottage was cozy, clean and well equipped There were fresh mangoes and bananas on the trees and a dock and patio at the back door. Best of all was Anna. She was a delight. She even showed me around town while my husband fished. Really friendly town.We are already making plans to go back before the end of summer.

Great weekend stay

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in the Water's Edge cottage over the weekend with my girlfriend. We live up in Tampa and were looking for a nearby weekend getaway to relax. This place proved perfect. Great views of the water from the back deck. They kayaks were a nice addition as well. The town just has a different feel than anything else in the area. Enough places to grab a beer and a fresh meal and the people are friendly. The property was clean and Anna was easily available for any questions.

Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our March stay at La Casita was a delight! We kayaked, biked, fished, zumba'd, birded, read and more! Anna was always available for any questions or local guidance (like the "full moon kayak tour". A pleasure really! The accommodations were just right for the 2 of us. Clean and had everything we needed for a months stay! Grilling and eating on the patio, occasionally entertaining with neighbors was just perfect. The morning birds at low tide right off our very dock was better than any Audubon reserve you might go to. Just the right mix of relaxing and playing. We'll be back!

Ultimate Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in the La Casita unit at Fernando's Hideaway and really enjoyed the opportunity to really relax in a private and picturesque location of this property. Every detail from property layout to interior furnishings and decorating made you feel right at home in this beautiful part of Florida. We enjoyed the wonderful morning coffees on the pier while being entertained by the wonderful bird population of the mangrove canals. We enjoyed the use of the kayaks provided and really appreciated all the little things like grilling out and walking to local shopping and eating locations. The facilities were perfectly maintained, well equipped and very clean. The owners could not have been more helpful and made sure we were having a good time but without intruding on privacy...a really class operation.

Clean, bright and enchanting!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent an unusually cooler month on Matlacha Island this year, but in spite of the weather we were very comfortable in our one bedroom cabin. One highlight of our stay at Fernandos Hideaway, was evening cocktails on the dock watching the sun set and good conversation with other wonderful guests. Our cabin was conveniently located on the island, walking or biking distance to restaurants and shops. Our accommodations were clean, bright and very comfortable for the two of us. Upon arrival everything was ready to go, just unpack and enjoy!!! Thank you Anna for sharing your little bit of paradise.
