About Kara

Tulsa, Oklahoma is our home and we embrace an active lifestyle which includes spending time outdoors. We are foodies and wine connoisseurs and enjoy a variety of dining options. After searching up and down the Gulf Coast for a vacation home large enough for our family, we found the ideal location in Gulf Trace.

Kara purchased this house in 2012

Why Kara chose Grayton Beach

Gulf Trace, our neighborhood, is a unique property in a nature sanctuary nestled between state park boundaries, with the Gulf Shore making up the Southern border. This house provides a wonderful combination of relaxation on the beach or enjoying a variety of activities with an extensive bike/walking/jogging path at the entrance of the neighborhood. The Florida Panhandle Beaches were the only location in the United States listed on Frommer's Top Destinations in 2010.

Gulf Trace Home Owner's Association has been awarded three grants in 2012:

1. Sea Turtle Conservancy as part of the national Fish and Wildliefe Foundation's Recovered Oil Fund for Wildlife.

2. National Fish and Wildlife

3. Sea Turtle Conservancy as part of the Natioinal Fish and Wildlife Foundation's Recovered Oil Fund for Wildlife

What makes this house unique

Our property is situated on a large gulffront lot. We have three levels of deck that allow unobstructed views of the Gulf. With multiple windows on the east, west, and south sides, even a drizzly day does not detract from the beautiful views. Whether you want to walk 30 feet to dip your feet in the Gulf, stay in the comfort of the house, or enjoy the numerous available activities, you are sure to enjoy your stay in our home.

From four cities, three generations, 16 persons, wonderful beach experience

  • 5 of 5

Our four children, their three spouses, and seven grandchildren joined us from Denver, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Miami for a fantastic week at Grayton Beach. The bedrooms were ideally suited for 16-18 people and perfect for admiring beautiful sunsets, morning and evening walks, sitting on balconies just listening to the surf roll in... The kitchen and master bath are over the top wonderful. The kitchen has a restaurant-type ice-maker (great for helping keep soft drinks and bottled water chilled in a cooler down at the beach), a warming oven (helpful when cooking for 16), expansive food preparation areas, and all the utensils, plates, glasses, and cookware you could ever need. Great charcoal grill on the front balcony. Big assortment of boogie boards, toys, chairs, balls, to take down to the beach for kids. Plenty of towels and linens. State of the art washer and dryer. A Publix Supermarket with all our food/beverage needs only a few minutes off the beach by car. A great owner who answered all our questions promptly by email before and during the visit. Close to Seaside and great restaurants, food trips, etc. for the night out. During the days we made some side trips to a spring just to the north, and the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola (ladies visited the outlet mall). This was our fourth summer experience with the Santa Rosa Beach - Grayton Beach beachfront home rental market. All were good, but this was far and away the best. We are already planning our next trip! Thank you, Seas the Day!

Decadent home -100 steps to beach!

  • 5 of 5

Tucked in the middle of a Forest Preserve, this home is amazing. Very private, we were able to sit right at the Gulf every morning with just a handful of other families strewn out across the beach. (travelled to Seaside and Blue Mountain to hear of seven row deep chairs and umbrellas-no thanks!) Made breakfast at the enormous island (5 foot sink) while watching dolphins swim by. Sat at the lower deck several evenings, listening to the sound of the crashing waves and using a star app to figure out what stars we were seeing-we don't see that many up in the Chicago area. The sunsets were stunning. Each bedroom is spacious and the beds were AMAZING. The house is so large everyone has their own space to escape to. The TVs in each room are great, too, as well as full size dressers to unpack and truly feel like you are on vacation. With Walmart and Publix near by, we were set to pick up what we needed, then return to our secluded escape. It's an easy drive to Destin and to Seaside to delve into the shopping and dining scenes. On recommendation from others, we hit Red Bar and Stinky's Fish Camp. Both were fantastic! The owner is great to work with and answered questions quickly. It is clear with the quality of bed linens, décor, maintenance, etc on this home, it is a home that is for rent, not a rental home (if that makes sense :) Even for a week, it was magnificent to LIVE a beach lifestyle! We cannot WAIT to go back.

(one of my favorite parts, aside from everything, is the wine/drink area with its own refrigerator and the ICE MACHINE that pumps out fifty pounds of perfectly cubed ice a night. Drinks in hand, walk out to beach, views from all of the decks = perfection!)

The BEST Beach House Ever

  • 5 of 5

My family of 16 just returned from a one-week stay at this beautiful house and couldn't be more pleased. the location is fantastic, down the back steps and you are on a white-sand beach and clear ocean. My wife and I stayed in the Master Suite. The shower(s) were so incredible, all of our Grandchildren and most of our Children took their showers there. Everything about the home is first-class. We will be returning next year and, hopefully, more in the future. The owner is a pleasure to work with.

Don't walk RUN to Seas the Day!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Words can't describe how incredible the home is. The owners are wonderful to work with. It was immaculate. So much so my wife and I are looking to buy in the neighborhood. In the morning there are a school of dolphins swimming to greet you. The kitchen is awesome. You can watch amazing sunsets from the master bedroom.

I only wished we did not have to leave. Work sucks :).

Beautiful Views & Home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for our annual yoga retreat in Florida. This house is beautiful, stunning. There was a plumbing issue when we arrived. I contacted the owner and she responded very quickly and someone was onsite later that day. The kitchen is amazing! The views are breath taking and the open deck on the second floor is just awesome. The family room was great for everyone coming together and watching a movie or just hanging out. I wish we could stay here for our 2015 trip, but the house is already booked! We brought our bikes and it was fun to ride down to Seaside, jump in the ocean to cool off, eat lunch and then ride back to the house to jump right back in the ocean!

Better than chocolate!

  • 5 of 5

There are times in life where you are in desperate need of a sanctuary - when chocolate and wine just aren't cutting it anymore. Well, Seas the Day provided our family the perfect getaway that we needed after a tumultuous year. The views are stunning from just about every room. The water really is turquoise... and green and blue, and sometimes even reddish brown, and it's all beautiful. The sand really is sugary white, and squeaky soft. If you stay long enough, you will even see dolphins! And the home is set up to enjoy times together and times apart. There are so many separate spaces (balconies, bedrooms, bathrooms), that everyone can have their "me" time, and then regroup to play games, watch movies, sing karaoke, and eat together. I loved the way the kitchen was set up with two sinks so that someone can be prepping food and someone else can be washing up without feeling like you are on top of each other. And the kitchen is extremely well-equipped with just about everything you will need for meal preparation. I loved the decor of the home - very serene colour scheme, and high quality throughout. I have rented homes that don't have basics like soap or salt & pepper, and this home was very generous with the basic supplies like that. The owner made everything a breeze, very pleasant to work with and super helpful with all my questions.
