Bay View Grand is situated 400 feet above sea level in the exclusive Bay Ridge neighborhood. This stunning retreat offers extraordinary 180-degree unobstructed views of Penobscot Bay and the Atlantic Ocean stretching from Port Clyde to Owls Head Lighthouse, Rockland to Camden and beyond. From the expansive upper and lower decks, as well as every bedroom and living area in the home, you and your guests will be entertained as you watch the schooners set sail in the morning and return to port at dusk.
This five-bedroom, six-bath estate, sits on three acres of lushly landscaped grounds with mature trees and a picturesque multi-level pond. The pond has a footbridge and waterfall surrounded by a slate patio area with Adirondack chairs and a fire pit.
We imagine guests setting up a badminton net on the sprawling front lawn or perhaps a friendly game of croquet under the towering oaks in the back yard. Later, end the day with a marshmallow roast in the fire pit as you relax by the pond.
Bay View Grand is a gorgeous fusion of traditional and contemporary design giving the house a light, breezy and comfortable feeling with an open floor plan, vaulted and elevated ceilings and dozens of large windows and French doors. The indoor and outdoor spaces truly feel as one space.
The main floor has a laundry room and a full bathroom (shower) off the large, tiled front entry. The family room flows easily into the eat-in kitchen and has plenty of seating and a large, wall mounted flat screen television and stereo system. The family room, dining room and solarium offer direct access to the 100-foot-long second floor deck.
The kitchen, which has a large, harvest style table situated in a bay, offers fantastic views and is fully equipped with all modern appliances. The dining room adjoins the kitchen and offers another seating area for guests.
The solarium is on this floor as well with electronically controlled skylights. The owners of the property have provided a telescope and binoculars so guests can zoom in on the lobster boats and breakwater while discovering the islands of Penobscot Bay.
The master suite is on the main floor and has a private entrance via French doors to the deck. This spacious bedroom has a king bed, walk-in closet and a large bathroom with a jetted tub and walk-in shower.
There is a library on this floor as well as a half bath in the main hallway. You will also find a den on this floor with two comfortable love seats and an oversized ottoman. These seats turn into twin beds and the den can easily be used as an overflow bedroom. The elevator is accessed from the den and transports guests to the game room on the first level.
The top floor has a second master suite with a king bed and a second bedroom with two twin beds. These bedrooms share a large bathroom with a spacious dual-sink vanity and a shower/tub combination. There is also a play room overlooking the solarium where children will find books, puzzles and games.
The first level has two bedrooms, each with two twin beds, direct access to the covered patio area and views of the bay. These rooms share a large bathroom with an oversized walk-in shower. There is also a half bath on this floor.
The office, which offers some of the best views and most comfortable seating in the house, has a computer and printer for guest use as well as a large, oversized desk for those who need to work during vacation. The house is also equipped with WiFi.
A truly fantastic game room, outfitted with a comfortable sitting area centered around a 40-inch television, completes the first living level. The game room features a dart board alley, ping pong table, game table, popcorn machine and a wraparound bar with a sink, refrigerator and ice maker (ice cream socials are fantastic here!). Sliding glass doors access a slate deck with seating, gas grill and the front lawn.
The family estate can sleep 10 in beds, but can accommodate up to 14 people with the use of the convertible sleepers in the family room and den.
While Bay View Grand is in a private neighborhood setting, it is conveniently located just minutes from Camden dining, shopping and windjammer cruises and less than four miles from Rockland's historic downtown with ferries to the islands.

Nearby activities include golf at the legendary Samoset Golf Resort or Rockland Country Club, guided harbor-to-harbor kayak expeditions, hiking on historic Mount Battie or heading to the beach. Everything is truly a 10-15 minute drive away.
While we had seen photos of Bay View Grand, we never expected the home, views and overall experience to be so extraordinary. From the moment we entered the neighborhood entrance, and saw the home dramatically perched on top of the hill, we knew that this going to be a very special place.
Panoramic bay and ocean views from the upper deck. A perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee as the schooners head out to sea from Rockland Harbor.
The home itself is beautiful and perfectly equipped for a large group. A fully-outfitted game room, library, office/den, family room, solarium and kids’ activity area, ensures that everyone has their own space.
We had a great time exploring the area – hiking Mount Battie, taking a harbor-to-harbor kayak trip, shopping in picturesque Camden, etc. But we always anticipated coming home at the end of each day to enjoy cocktails around the firepit by the pond.
Thanks for sharing your very special home with us. It was a vacation we’ll never forget.
