Celine and David are the owners of the property. We purchased this 150+ old village house with nothing but a kitchen sink and a toilet and turned it into a very comfortable home. We have raised two daughters and now have two grandsons and we live on beautiful Whidbey Island in Washington state.
Celine & David purchased this house in 2007
Having spent some of my childhood in the area with my grandmother, it was an impulsive purchase during a vacation in 2006. My husband has also always loved the area and we are anxious to explore the area further now that we have done so much work on the house.
Very clean and well equipped Quillan townhouse. Brilliant central location. Great kitchen to cook an evening meal and sit round the big dining table.
Lots of guide books and good recomemmendations re restaurants. Great walking and cycling country.
This comfortable holiday home was very well equipped. We had all the things we needed and immediately felt at home. The house is ideally located if you wish to explore the area - castles, mountains, wine tasting and the sea about at hour and a half away. We came home to rest as there was so much to see and enjoy in the area.
The village is charming and very friendly. We have extremely limited French, and were still made to feel welcome. There are plenty of places to eat and drink and the Thursday evening market was a real treat.
We travelled with our 2 teenage boys who loved the holiday. It was just such a lovely location for a family holiday.
séjour agréable, petite ville tranquille, région pleine de magnifiques paysages
An attractive little town house, on 3 storeys and with lovely views from the top 2 floors. Clean, well equipped kitchen/dining area and with some nice old furniture that gives a good feel. Two spacious and very comfortable beds with en-suite bathrooms on top 2 floors. Everything you need in town is within a few minutes walk and there are some excellent places to eat. A really pleasant stay in a delightful spot.
There is nothing I could even think to complain about. It is the ideal headquarter location for visiting Carcassonne, and Le Pays Cathare with all its castles and abbeys. Celine (the owner) is super helpful and nice, the house itself has everything one needs and is very nice, Quillan is a small town but has a couple of good restaurants, beer places, one great bakery, grocery store, pharmacy. Definitely recommended.
Quillan is a good location to explore Cathar Country. There are many interesting castles to visit including Puislaurens and Monségur. Make sure to visit on a clear day to take advantage of the beautiful view from the high peaks. The house was well equipped and there was a lot of attention to visitor needs, including maps and even bicycles.
Quillan is a small town and commune in the Aude département, in southwestern France located at the foothills of the Pyrenees, on the road between Carcassonne and Perpignan. Located at the top of the Haute Valley of the Aude, close to the mountains, this is an excellent area for hiking and mountain biking as well. Horseback Riding is available nearby and the views are amazing. Take a short trail ride or sign up for multiple days.
Carcassonne is a must see and just one hour away. The medieval walled town lies on the right bank of the River Aude and is featured on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. It has 52 towers and 2 rings of town walls making a total of 3 km of battlements. There is no restriction on access to this area of Carcassonne. It is still home today to its population of approximately 120 and it boasts a large number of shops and craftsmen.
