About The Owner

Owner used to live in this apartment. He now leaves abroad and comes back for vacations a few weeks per year.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 1999

Why The Owner chose 18th Arrondissement Montmartre

Montmartre is a village within Paris: it combines the atmosphere of an ancient village with trendy shops and fabulous restaurants. Many artists and movie stars live in the district. It is a very charming and restful area to be appreciated after a whole day shopping and walking through museums.

As you walk through Montmartre you will pass many winding and picturesque streets with fascinating houses, stairs and wonderful views over Paris. Look for the Montmartre Vineyard, walk to 'Place du Tertre' where artists will offer to draw your portrait and see Picasso’s house and the Salvador Dali museum. Visit the famous Sacre Coeur Moorish-looking church.

On the 'Rue des Abbesses' you will discover shops, cafes and clothing stores and in 'Rue Lepic' you will come across the market, wine shops - the cheese shop was rated n° 3 in France – bakeries and charcuteries. It’ll take a few days to select your preferred “café” !!! Walk down to the Moulin Rouge and experience the Paris nightlife.

On the north side, close to the “Lamarck” metro station is the famous Rue du Poteau Market as well as quaint antique shops.

What makes this apartment unique

The Champs-Elysees is only a ten-minute Metro ride, the Eiffel Tower, Le Marais, Les Halles, and Saint-Germain are all between 15- 20 minutes from Abbesses or Lamarck subway station.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you for a wonderful short holiday in Paris. The apartment was cool and comfortable even when it was 35 degreees outside. The location was perfect and we loved the local cafes and restaurants, I thought places like those had all disappeared! It was great to be able to wander out just a few hundred meters for an aperitif or dinner and find such an eclectic mix of food and flavours!

And for that perfect Parisian tourist experience we loved the restaurant and cafe Les Buttes de Montmartre where a more classic menu and more bourgeois experience can be had and all with a wonderful view down the steps and out over the roof tops of Paris.

You were right all the beds were extremely comfortable and the polished concrete floor is a great comfort to sore feet! The storage space was great too and the whole place felt spacious and was easy to use.

Thanks again for a lovely holiday,

Jane, Grace and Charlotte

Wonderful Apartment!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at this property in early January 2017. It was great! The apartment is in the most charming area. It is steps away from a Metro station and a short walk to other stations. One really great thing about the apt is that it is right down the street from the beautiful Sacre Coeur church! Wonderful restaurants, bakeries, and shops are all right in the neighborhood. The apartment is perfect. There were 5 of us staying there and it was fine. The apartment was very clean and well taken care of. It even had a washing machine and dryer! That was a great thing! The apartment is on the ground level and right by the entrance to the building. So easy to go in and out! We felt very safe in this neighborhood. We would walk around in the evening and always felt safe. I highly recommend this property. Such wonderful memories made while we were there! I can't wait to visit again and we will definitely stay in this same apartment.

Great space, great location

  • 4 of 5

The apartment was perfect. Comfortable for 2 or 3 people, so close to the Metro and fabulous neighborhood. There was a festival the day we arrived and the whole area was abuzz. Easy walk to Sacre Coeur, Moulin Rouge and many fabulous cafes. Can't go wrong with this rental.

Comfortable, clean and conveniently located

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Vieuville. The apartment was clean and comfortable. As well as conveniently located. The Montmartre area of the city is bustling with shopping, dining, and history. Jean-Noel was very easy to work with and an effortless exchange for checking in and out of the apartment. We would highly recommend.

Well Equipped Apt. in Great Location

  • 4 of 5

My sister, our 3 children - 11, 12, 13 - and I stayed for a week. The apartment itself is very nice and easily fit all of us. The bathroom and kitchen are tiny, but had everything that we needed, including a colander and garlic press, which I would not generally expect in a rental. I'm not sure if they are always provided, or if the tenants before us left them, but there was dish soap and paper towels in the kitchen and hand soap and toilet paper in the bath. We had plenty of towels and extra sheets. If I could, I would give it 4-1/2 stars only because of the noise. The apartment is in a tourist location (with cobblestone streets) and right next to a metro stop (Abbesses), which we loved and it is reasonable to expect a certain amount of noise, but there were two nights when we were awakened by noise from the upstairs neighbors and pretty loud partying in the street outside. Shutting the windows provided a very good sound barrier (for the outside noise), but then the inside got quite warm. The primary bed was very comfortable and we also used the washing machine for laundry and that worked well (although we could never get the dryer to work, we just used the drying rack). Overall, I easily recommend this apartment and would be happy to stay again.

Excellent Location

  • 5 of 5

We were a family of four staying here for a week. The accomodations were adequate for the four of us. JN had an additional bed put in the apartment for us.

The location is great as Montmartre truly is one of the nicest neighborhoods to stay from what we could see in our travels. Having the subway station 50 meters away made Paris at our doorstep.

The only negative is that the apartment is on ground level and as mentioned in many old European buildings, soundproofing is not great. If you are a light sleeper, it could be an issue.

Overall, I would recommend this location for a Paris base.
