This elegant home was custom-built in '06 with meticulous attention to detail by the owners. It is located in the exclusive, gated Bridger's Cache Community that has the only ski in - ski out private homes in the Winter Park resort area. Our home has been featured in Signature Kitchens and Baths, and has been requested for another spread in a different home magazine slated to appear during the Winter of '09. It is a truly special place.
Our Community Manager is in the area year round and will be able to provide travel advice, and will generally be readily available if there are questions about the operation of any appliances, etc.
Beginner skiers would enjoy their day most on all the green and blue slopes on the Winter Park side. Winter Park is well known for its excellent ski instructors. (For families with little ones who are not skiers, it is easiest to take the bus from the base of Jane down to the ski school's entrance at the base of Winter Park.) From the Winter Park side for the return home, take blue runs back down from the top of Mary Jane. The daring among you can come home from Winter Park on Outhouse. For the experts among you, stay for the day on the Mary Jane side for the Needle's Eye, the Shoots, Trestle and all the others.
The gourmet chef of your household will love the kitchen. It is fully equipped. You'll want to plan your groceries, perhaps making a stop on the front range and then filling in at the local Safeway in Fraser.
We designed our home to accommodate our family: Mom and Dad, their 3 grown kids, and their grandkids. So, there are four rooms for the adults, and 2 bunk rooms for the kids to share. Perfect!
On beautiful ski days, it is so nice to be able to park the car in the garage, put on our skis and go!. No parking hassles!
We were a group of 12 from PA. We had adult couples and singles. The house was great! We spent all of our time there when not on the mountain. Cooked breakfast and dinner everyday. Rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle if you are staying here the shuttle from MaryJane stops running at 5 pm. We did not rent and Elena was so nice in helping us get around that issue. The highlights of the house are the hot tub, heated floors, and the comfy beds. We used the outside grill to cook our steaks which were great. The kitchen had everything we needed including a vast selection of spices. There was two master bedrooms with tv's and one of the bunk rooms had a tv as well. The trail to get to WinterPark was located about 25 feet up the road and is more doable for skiers the riders had flat zone at the end. Elana went above and beyond to take care of any questions I had before and during our stay. I cannot say enough good things about her. This was our first time at WinterPark and we came from out of state so we didn't know what to expect. It was easy getting there from Denver airport. If we visit again I would definitely stay here again. I strongly suggest anyone thinking of staying here to DO IT! Our friends who didn't come were JEALOUS!
My family and friends stayed here over President's weekend. There were 15 people in our group including 7 kids: ages 13, 12, 12,9,9,8,and 5. There was more than enough room for all of us and it was nice that the kids had a "wing" of the house to themselves to hang out and play. The radiant heating in the floors was also a perk and we never even felt cold when it was -4 degrees outside! We didn't rent a 4 wheel drive but wish that we had because the driveway is a little steep and slippery when covered with snow. It would have been no big deal with a different vehicle.
---The hot tub was so perfect and it felt great to just relax after a day of skiing. It was perfectly located right out the patio doors of the great room. In the entryway downstairs, there was an area to hang all of your coats and a place for you to dry your ski boots and gloves. The great room was huge and was a great place for all of us to just spend time talking about the events of the day. The home really had so many neat and carefully thought through amenities. We were really impressed and it was perfect for our family and friends. The kids and adults had a blast.
----Now on to what we learned about the mountain. We had never skied Winter Park before and here are some tips if bringing kids. The property is ski in/out. You have to walk a short distance (20 yards maybe) to ski down to the cat walk to winter park. To ski in you have to ski down the mary jane trail and you are able to ski right to the garage door if there is snow coverage on the road. Everyday we strapped our boot and skis on and headed down to WP to ski that side and only went to the Mary Jane side when wanting to go back to the house. The green runs at Winter Park are pretty flat and our kids had a hard time with them. We had to let them ski with poles for the first time because the adults got tired of waiting on them and "slinging" them with our poles. On the last day we skied, we decided to hike from the house to the Mary Jane base and just ski on that side instead of starting on the WP side. Even though that was quite a hike for a bunch of Texas folks in high altitude, it was a much better day of skiing for all of us. The kids were much less frustrated. All of our kids were intermediate skiers.
-----Overall, I would highly recommend this home. It was a wonderful experience and the owner is very hands-on. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us and letting us make wonderful memories.
We stayed at this property for 5 days over MLK weekend. It is truly a special property at Winter Park/Mary Jane. We had 4 couples and 9 children aged 7 and up staying at the house, and it was a perfect set-up. 2 bunkrooms for the kids and 4 big bedrooms for the adults, most with private baths.
The house itself is exquisite - the owners clearly care about this property and there are many touches that would be made only by an owner who actually uses the property. Not to mention the Radiant Floors! The great room is definitely “great” and a wonderful gathering place at the end of skiing. The hot tub is just outside the great room, making it all very integrated with the open gourmet kitchen and even the large dining area. There was plenty of room for us all to have a great time relaxing, playing cards, grilling and catching up.
It is a very short walk to get onto the catwalk (50 yards max) and all of our kids were able to ski back home right up to the garage door. For true beginners, any catwalk will be pretty much not possible, but it did not seem to be a problem for even our more novice skiers.
The house is in a very private enclave that many probably are not even aware exists. It has great privacy “away from it all” and is a perfect place to reconnect with old friends or family. The owner (Elena) is located nearby and gave a comprehensive tour of how to use the place, and I’m confident that if anything went wrong (which it didn’t) it would be taken care of. Elena was very easy to work with and very accommodating when we had flight cancellations on the departure. Definitely the type of person from whom you want to be renting a vacation home.
Thanks for a great vacation!
We were a family group with as many as 13 on some days. This was a perfect house for us. Six big, private bedrooms, large living area and spacious kitchen. Our many cooks were delighted by the well equipped kitchen.
As other guests have mentioned, the beds were heavenly.
Elena is a wonderful host - easy to work with and attentive to the little details that make your stay special.
Finally, ski in and ski out for all - nine year old granddaughter as well as Grandma D!
Highly recommended. Rented this property for a holiday ski trip with my parents and all my brothers and sisters and their families. Fifteen people total...and very comfortably. We could not have been more pleased. This house is an extraordinary property. A true dream home. The owners spared no expense when picking out all the features, fixtures, appliances, amenities, etc. Great floor plan for sharing with multiple families. The location also is amazing. Walking distance to Mary Jane Base or to the catwalk run that dumps you out at the main base area. We are already planning to come back next year.
We are in a small private home subdivision at the base of Mary Jane. It is 250 yards down the catwalk on foot or skis to the base of Winter Park. To drive, however, one goes out the Mary Jane road to the south, and then hairpins back to the north down Hwy 40 to get to the restaurants, etc, in the town of Winter Park.
