Casita Coronado is centrally located in the heart of San Miguel de Allende and just a 10 minute walk to the Jardin and La Parroquia. The Mercado de San Juan de Dios with wonderful fruit, vegetables, and arm loads of fresh flowers, is just a short walk away! The Casita provides convienent access to Spanish langauge schools (Warren Hardy and Centro Mexicano are both five minute walks).
The property contains the Casita, the Casa rented separately (see VRBO listing number 196392 for more information), a garage (available if not being used by Casa guests), and the laundry and utility rooms.
The Casita has its own private street entrance, a large cheerful bedroom with queen bed, lots of closet space, a complete kitchen, a comfortable dining area, toll-free calling to the US and Canada, and a great TV/Entertainment area with high-speed internet access. For cold nights we have just installed a safe, efficient, wall furnace. The Casita also has a private rooftop terrace with a tejado, beautiful plantings, and ample seating to enjoy the beautiful San Miguel sunsets.
Our housekeeper comes to clean and change the linens and we can arrange to have someone cook for you. The property is managed by an English speaking manager who is always on call in case you have any problems.
San Miguel de Allende (SMA) is a beautifully restored 400 year old colonial silver city, considered by many to be the prettiest town in Mexico, and it is protected by the government as an Historic Trust site to ensure that it stays that way.
SMA offers an extraordinary array of concerts, live theater, lectures and famous art institutes (Instituto Allende and Bellas Artes). Classes are offered in painting, sculpture, weaving, dance, photography, and ceramics to name a few. There is a wonderful English language library with the largest collection of books in English outside of Mexico City.
Weekly events are published in the bilingual newspaper, “Atencion”, each Friday.
John & Lynn purchased 'Casa Coronado' in 2006. The Casa, with its colorful and spacious Casita, is the perfect getaway for our busy families and is a wonderful base for exploring San Miguel de Allende and the beauty that is Mexico!
John Manning purchased this apartment in 2006
The property is located in a warm and friendly neighborhood. In the years we have owned our San Miguel de Allende home our neighbors (both Mexican and Expatriates) have become dear friends.
We spent the month of February in the casita and enjoyed it very much. Perfect for two people. Very comfortable and in a great location. At walking distance to all the interesting places in SMA. Everything worked in the casita, good heaters during a few cold days, very good shower , comfortable bed, nice kitchen. Good housekeeper and very easy to deal with John the owner who was always very responsive and very efficient. I definitely recommend the casita .
We just stayed for a week in a cute and convenient casita in San Miguel. It was perfect for our needs and close to everything. The owner was very responsive and helpful with all our questions. We would stay again for sure!! R & J
Location is the most important criteria in San Miguel. This apartment is walking distance to everything and the perfect distance from el jardin as to be unaffected by nightclub noise on the weekends. I was not woken by loud church bells or barking dogs. This is a peaceful spot! I spent the full month of March, 2014 in the apartment. My college age daughter stayed for a week with me on the living room fold-out futon sofa which was perfect. Let me start with the unique qualities of the apartment. It is exceptionally private. I loved the small outdoor courtyard on the apartment level in addition to the lovely roof-top. I doubt many apartments have such outdoor options or any outdoor space, particularly with such privacy. For a one bedroom, every aspect of the unit is very spacious. The bedroom is very large and includes a desk. There was more than enough room for the massage therapist to set up her table below the skylight. I greatly appreciated the very ample closet space, built-drawers and lockable drawer. The bathroom has a large counter and lots of storage. I loved the large shower. The layout and furnishings of the living/dining/kitchen area are perfect. The kitchen is big enough for several to work in and well equipped. I was delighted that I had access to laundry facilities (in the lower level behind the ping pong room) and even played ping pong once with a friend! I will be back!
We had a marvelous six-week stay at Casita Coronado. The layout and amenities were perfect for us as a couple, especially the spacious rooftop terrace where we spent many sunny and restful hours. Owners John and Lynn were in town during this time, and were very considerate to our needs.
The casita remained cool throughout the days and evenings for this winter period. Two well-placed heaters were a good remedy for comfort, along with good-quality bed coverings. Ana was a diligent and thoughtful housekeeper, who we enjoyed chatting with on her breaks. The quiet and privacy of this place is remarkable, given its proximity to busy communities and roadways. By walking or taking a taxi or bus, you can quickly travel anywhere around SMA.
My husband and I were happy with our time spent in this casita, we found it very comfortable. We found all we needed to spend a month in a place not ours. There was drinking water as much as we needed; we had a person cleaning our place three times a week at the expense of the owner; all the towels and beddings were changed or cleaned as requested. The location of the place was safe and very easy to go to the market or go to town. The night was not as quiet as expected; several times we heard dogs crying for hours and I found it very stressing, being a dog owner myself. Unfortunately during our entire month we were there, the next door neighbour was doing renovation and there were days of banging ciment floor or walls, there was constant noise for a whole day at one point while other days it varies. We accepted the fact that life is not perfect and other has to do their activities however I want to specify that it happened while we were there. And at last, the owner was either mix up with our arrival date but we were told after confirmation of our arrival that the first night was not available in the casita but he would arrange something for us. We did arrive at 2:30 a.m. on the 1st of March and placed in another space, the main casa. The next morning we were told we had to move to another place for few days; we found out that second morning that we were entering our casita contrary to our knowledge. This made me realized that the owner is not sound organized and for whatever reason caused havoc at arrival. I was told by other people staying in the casa they had experience a similar situation in the past. Something to be improved. Would I recommend you to stay there, I would certainly encourage you to, knowing what can be expected and what can be improved.
My family and I stayed in the darling casita pictured here. The space was pleasant, plenty large enough for two or three, beautifully cared for, and excellently staffed. The roof-top terrace and the interior patio were the highlights for us - beautiful atmosphere. The 10 to 15 minute walk to the town center is interesting if slightly uphill. The town itself - can't say enough about it!! All good!!
