The SNOWS NEST is a short term rental vacation home (no seasonal rentals) available year round in Vermont's beautiful Green Mountains. No matter the season, this is your base for weddings, graduations, reunions, cultural activities or athletic competitions, sports, or as just a fresh air getaway for you and family/friends.
Play hard, eat well, sleep at night with that wonderful tired feeling that only time in the out-of-doors can bring you. Relax and reconnect, with yourself, with family, with friends. Be silly, have fun, unplug that phone, leave all the day in, day out routine behind. Refresh, recharge, regress! Tell the adult in you to take a hike! (really ...)
The Snows Nest is planned to have everything you need. Just pack your clothes, pick up some groceries and you're all set. The house is fully equipped, not only with necessities, but with books, games, videos, toys and yes, a blender. Three good-sized bedrooms sleep six, two bathrooms, air conditioning, large rear deck with with a full retractable awning, covered front porch, fully furnished, 3.5 acres with diurnal pond (good for frogs, not for swimming). Off beautiful Common Road east of town. Views to the west. Please look at the pictures, as they say it all, it's very livable. Our home is designed for YEAR ROUND fun and relaxation; for family and social gatherings.
Open floor plan, warm tones, radiant heat floors, gas-burning fireplace. Appliances include gas stove, d/w, microwave, full w/d. Air conditioning.
This house has been continually upgraded every year since we bought in 2008. Even if you've been before, chances are you'll find something new.
If you MUST work while on vacation, we offer DSL Internet with WIFI for your own computer.
YOUR CHILDREN AND FLEA-FREE, WELL BEHAVED PETS ARE WELCOME.
We strongly discourage smoking, but if you must, outdoors ONLY, and dispose of butts appropriately.
We regret that the longest stay we can offer is six weeks, and would not include full months in the winter, as we use the house ourselves occasionally. We welcome inquiries from three nights to six weeks.

Cosmo, Moxie, and I welcome you. Animals rule! We love well-behaved, flea-free pets with the exception of some dog breeds (sorry, our insurance requires it). We realize there are good dogs and bad dogs out there of every breed, but the following breeds are generally acknowledged to carry the greatest risk ...pit bulls, akitas, rottweilers, chow chows, presa canarios, or any wolf/dog combination. Mixed breeds are fine (who doesn't love a mutt).

No better place on the planet than the State of Vermont, in any season! Sure, great skiing, but great all year round with the wonderful outdoors yours for hiking, biking, fishing, tennis/golf, birdwatching, long trails, kicking back on the east porch or the west deck ... get away from the daily grind, Vermont will help you hit your reset button!
Waitsfield and the entire Mad River Valley are very special places in Vermont, a special blend of real country living and 21C amenities. Stroll Waitsfield's outdoor market on the weekends, sampling local foods and beverage, sit on one of the couches in the local movie theatre while eating your freshly grilled burgers from the lobby restaurant, go antiquing, visit art shows, take a glider ride at the local airfield, jump in the Mad River to cool off, hike The Long Trail (part of the Appalachian Trail), ride a horse, go fishing, take in a live show at the Skinner Barn, and on and on ...
We don't aim to be the fanciest house, but then, do you want to tiptoe through a showcase property, or let your kids and dogs off their leashes? We DO aim for comfort, convenience and fun. The entire house is planned to be a walk in/walk out operation - just pack your suitcase, and stop at the grocery store, everything else you need is here already. It is clean, and furnished specifically for family and social gatherings. Enjoy the unspoiled and varied scenery for dog walking, biking, or just kick back on the front or back decks and watch the wildlife. Waitsfield can cover all your shopping needs. Sorry, no rentals longer than six weeks.
Overall rating of overall rental experience is a 10 out of a possible 10. [Why?] It is a lovely, comfortable home. It was a comfort for our tired bodies after skiing!
We would love a couple of a chairs on the decks - ones that can stay out in the snow.
It's a great location nd you have lovely neighbors [the neighbors have horses who like carrots from strangers].
Overall value for the money spent 10 out of 10 where 10 is "excellent."
We had a great stay in at this property in February for skiing. This home was close to the local mountains (both peaks of Sugarbush and Mad River Glen) and was perfect for our group of a few skiers. Would visit again!
The house was clean, organized and well equipped
Very easy to get to.Everything you need for cooking and a lot of info on places to see an eat.Very clean an roomy.
Beautiful surroundings. The house was very nice and adequatte and we enjoyed our stay very much. Instructions are a bit confusing on what to do with the garbage when you leave.
The house was accurately described and the rooms afforded lots of natural light with lots of windows. Kitchen was well stocked and we made all our meals at the home. The directions to get in and all the interior functions properly laid out. We would definitely come back again!
This property was a great place to stay! We enjoyed the peace and quiet and beautiful scenery. Being close to Waitsfield was a big plus, and there are many wonderful things to see and do in the area. Sheila was very helpful, and the property was excellent. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The description on VRBO/HomeAway was quite accurate. Waitsfield is a lovely small town with great places to eat and shop. Although we did not stay for a movie, one restaurant we enjoyed was the Big Picture. The home's location was also convenient to other areas in Western Vermont such as Burlington. We would recommend it to other travelers who plan to visit this
scenic area.
Many artisanal farming activities in/around the Mad River Valley; beekeeping, heirloom pig farming, dairy operations, cheese-making, falconry experience, etc.
Lots of cultural and educational activities. Music and arts festivals. BIG weekly farmer's market. All kinds of outdoor activities for every season of the year (fishing/swimming/skiing/ hiking/boating/walking/bird watching/ The Appalachian Trail/ snowmobiling/ on and on ...)
