We'd like to invite you to the Okanagan Valley for your summer vacation and relax in our private 3550 sq ft "post and beam" home and enjoy our breathtaking unobstructed 180 degree view of the Okanagan Lake. Our home is situated high above the lake in a park-like setting nestled in the trees between Kelowna and Vernon. Imagine yourself relaxing in the hot tub during the evenings with a glass of wine staring at the stars or just lying in the hammock on the huge 1100 sq ft upper deck. Maybe spending your days at our private beach at our lakeside cabin only a short 5 minute drive away. All you need to bring with you is your food and clothing, as we supply everything else. This is our personal home which we basically walk away from during the summer months as we move to our lake cabin during rental season. We leave most of our precious belongings behind for our guests to enjoy. It's like having your own 'home away from home'. You can even tuck your vehicles away from the hot sun in our 3 car garage.
If you decide to bring along your boat, it can be safely moored at our cabin during your stay free of charge. There is no need to take it in and out of the water each day. It's trailer can be left in the RV parking area at our home. Boat launches are only a few minutes away.
With a 24 foot high wall of lakeside windows, you will wake up each morning to a breathtaking view of the sunrise over the lake. How about starting your day with breakfast on the huge 1100 square foot wrap-around deck overlooking the lake. There are numerous hiking and biking trails in the area and a number of small fishing lakes within a short drive from the home. Our home is situated on a very private cul de sac where you will be able to walk or bike safely with your children or grandchildren. There is a playground for kids within walking distance of our home.
If you are a golf enthusiast, There are a number of great golf courses in the area. Spallumcheen Golf and country club (18 holes and an executive 9 holes) is only 12 minutes away. Predator Ridge Golf course is directly across the lake along with the Sparkling Hills Spa and Resort. Both are a "must see" when you come to the area.
Two world class ski resorts (Big White and Silver Star) are nearby and offer both winter and summer activities.
The Okanagan Valley is known for its numerous world class wineries. Many are a short drive away.
A small supermarket/hardware/home bakery (including a gas station) is 10 minutes away. Major shopping malls are 30 minutes away in either Vernon or Kelowna.
There is a Chinese/Canadian restaurant 5 minutes away from our home for those days when cooking is not an option.
As a 'BONUS' you are invited to share our private lake front beach and dock during the days at our private cabin on the lake and only 5 minutes away by car. You can use any of our water toys at this lakefront property (stand-up paddle board, 2 man kayak, small fishing boat, many floaties for kids and adults) free of charge. You can actually see the cabin from the upper deck at our home. We live at this lake front property during rental season. Being that we live so close-by allows us to easily take care of any immediate services or maintenance needed at our home without interfering with our guests' privacy.
If you want to get away from the big city and enjoy some peace and quiet yet have all of the amenities you left behind in your own home, this is the place! Come and enjoy our little 'piece of paradise'.
****SORRY, BUT WE DO NOT ALLOW ANY LARGE FUNCTIONS (WEDDING CEREMONIES, RECEPTIONS, REUNIONS ETC.) IN OR ON OUR PROPERTY.****

We moved to the Okanagan valley 10 years ago and built our 'dream' home in 2005. We have an amazing 180 degree unobstructed view of the Okanagan lake. We spend our summers at our lake front property (only 5 minutes from our home) which allows us to rent our home out during those months. During the past 8 summers we've enjoyed meeting great people from all over Canada, USA, and Europe.
LEIGH BANNISTER purchased this house in 2006
The Okanagan valley is one of the most beautiful areas in the world. We love living here as it is truly a 'recreational paradise'.
Guests who rent our home truly have the 'best of both worlds'! They will live in a modern comfortably furnished 'post and beam' home with an amazing 180 view of Lake Okanagan with the option of spending their days at our private beach (only a 5 minute drive from the house) to enjoy fishing, swimming, kayaking, or just laying in the sun during the hot Okanagan days. We encourage guests to bring along their boats so they can explore the lake during the days and then leave it safely moored at this lakefront property during their stay free of charge.
Comment left in guestbook: Thank you so very much Leigh and Sue!! We always enjoy your place and it's a perfect vacation home. We loved every minute of it!! Thanks for all your hospitality and generosity! Christa and Sean Callihoo
We had a great time, the house was clean and everything worked perfect. The view is amazing too. I recommend staying at Leigh and Sue's house and any future rentals they may have.
This property was ideal for our group which consisted of 6 adults and 3 children under 3. We were looking for a place to get away and relax and enjoy some time on the water. We found everything we were looking for here. We spent 6 nights at Leigh and Sue's home and it really was a home. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you would need including Tupperware and coolers to take some food to the beach. We prepared all sorts of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner and never seemed to miss any kind of dish or cooking utensil. Also there were several books and DVDs to pass the time. The deck was exactly as pictured and we spent our evenings enjoying the comfortable deck furniture and took dips in the hot tub. The views were amazing and the deck offered quiet solitude when needed.
The private dock was time well spent and I highly recommend guests take advantage of their generous offer. They have life jackets, deck chairs, hammock, kayaks etc and we had a great time there. We were joined by some friends on a couple occasions and on those days we enjoyed the very private public beach nearby (Killaney). Just take a left on Hodges road and follow the road down to the water. We had a music blasting and beer flowing and nobody bothered us there. We felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves. Keep in mind we were there the week before school ended so I am not sure if it gets busier when the kiddies are out of school.
Leigh and Sue were close by and able to attend to any needs that arose during our stay but we had everything we needed to bunker down for 6 days. It was nice to be able to park our car in their garages so they were cool when we drove down to the beach. Also we were really glad we chose to spend some time on the west side of Lake Okanagan as it was much quieter than the other side. We would definitely recommend this home to large groups who are looking for a well-equipped home near the water.
Better than we could imagine. Easy access to great trails, close enough to Vernon and Kelowna and very quiet and private. It was perfect for our romantic getaway!
We've rented many places in North America, this is the cleanest house we've ever seen. It was me, my wife, and my two kids (2 and 6 of age). There is definitely a nicer room upstairs, but we all had good rooms and could put the kids to sleep and stay up longer. The owners let us use their lake lot for swimming, paddle boarding and Kayaking which was also great.
We did hit a deer on the way up to the house one night, so beware...
Our family group which includes my husband and I, my daughter and son-in-law, and two young grandsons, (currently 8 and 6), have been vacationing together for years. We are accustomed to road tripping and have shared many warm weather holidays in relaxing locales....this year however, we found the piece de resistance.
To begin with, the house is spectacular...very spacious and warmly decorated, with a view to die for and all the comforts a family could ever imagine. (My grandchildren's first reaction was WOW! WOULD YOU LOOK AT THIS HOUSE!) and my husband (who is the family cook) could not get over the well equipped kitchen with sharp knives and a refrigerator large enough to easily hold enough food for six people for a week. All of us had so much room to spread out and be comfortable and there was not a single moment in 6 days that we ever said "If only this house had ____________." The hot tub alone was just such a treat...it was right there on the massive deck for us to enjoy at our leisure...we felt so spoiled.
Leigh and Sue very quickly felt like friends to us. They were gracious and giving and warm and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. The day we first laid eyes on their private dock, my grandsons named it "Bannister Beach" and they had more fun playing there than I can accurately describe. The Bannisters have an array of water toys that were completely at our disposal.....along with our kayak (which they graciously permitted us to store alongside theirs), we were welcome to use their rowboat, dingy, SUP, water trampoline (OMG THAT was such a hit) etc...they literally opened their beach to us and encouraged us to use everything freely. We have never been treated so well. The day we all went for a boat ride and my grandsons tubed around the lake was one of those experiences none of us will ever forget...Leigh and Sue made those two boys feel so special...as a grandmother, my heart was happy :-)
I hope we get the opportunity to go back to Vernon and if we do, this is where we will stay. 10/10 does not do it....we had the best summer vacation we've ever had and all six of us were sad to leave. WELL DONE LEIGH AND SUE....you really did provide us with our new holiday benchmark and our friends and family will be hearing the stories for years to come.
The property matched the beautiful pictures, very clean and welcoming. The view is stunning, no matter the time of day it was wonderful to gaze at the lake. I have stayed in many other VRBO properties and this ranks with the best, well-equipped and organized. We didn't make it down to the lake as there was so much else to do, maybe next time! The location is quiet, even with our two dogs on the deck the deer came by each day, what a treat to see twin fawns following their mom. I would highly recommend this house for any group. Leigh and Sue are wonderful owners, everything was perfect for our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting vineyards and walking in Myra Canyon.
