About Mary Beth Yamnitz

My husband and I grew up in the Tampa Bay area but have always chosen the mountains as our vacation destination. We find the mountain scenes breathtaking. We love the mountains so much that we decided to build our own vacation home in 2008. The slow pace and southern hospitality keep us coming back year after year.

Mary Beth Yamnitz purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Mary Beth Yamnitz chose Carters Lake

Talking Rock Creek Resort is the definition of serenity. The 'quiet' is a rare find. The property is completely private, but only 20 minutes from shopping centers, restaurants and grocery stores.

What makes this cabin unique

We enjoy the creek, naps in the hammocks and the fire pit. You can completely get away from it all and immerse yourself in the beautiful mountain scenes within Talking Rock Creek Properties. Much of our time is spent relaxing on one of the decks, but when we get out we enjoy antique shopping in quaint downtown Talking Rock, Jasper and Ellijay and Blue Ridge. Near by Carters Lake is also a favorite, if you love the outdoors you'll love this area. Hiking opportunities are plentiful. Fish for bass, trout, catfish and brim in Talking Rock Creek.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My husband and myself stayed in this cabin three nights with my son, his wife, daughter and son, and our small "four-legged" baby. We had plenty of room - inside the cabin and out! The cabin was very clean, decorated so cute, beds were very comfortable, plenty of amenities. We enjoyed the firepit and the chiminea. Wish we had had more time but perhaps next time. We definitely will come back to this cabin. My dealings with the owner were great! The owners take pride in their cabin and it shows.

Awesome cabin with views and excellent owners!

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent experience at this cabin! The owner is very nice and accommodating. The decks are awesome places to relax!!! Comfy beds for all and great for babies since the main floor has the extra bedrooms so there are no stairs (going down) to worry about. Very private cabin and it is in a beautiful gated community with ALL paved roads - a rare thing for mountain cabins! We have stayed at many cabins since it is our favorite way to vacation and this has been one of the best!! Thank you again Mary Beth!! We will be back!

We visited this cabin the week of Christmas. I just cannot express what a fabulous time we had. This is an absolutely beautiful place. The view from the cabin is breathtaking, especially in the morning as the sun makes its way over the mountain ranges. The middle track of mountain turns the most stunning shade of gold. It is phenomonal.

There is a creek on this property, that you must get to by your car, and it is quite a steep drive, but worth it. We had our small dog with us and she had a blast pouncing through the leaves and wading in that icy water. It was very cold the week we were there and the kids were thrilled to find little pockets of ice along the creek and spent hours skipping rocks. We hiked down the hill by the cabin, spent every afternoon around the outdoor fire pit making smores and just talking to eachother in a way that our busy lives don't allow. We spent the evening playing games around the table and watching Christmas movies with the a crackling fire in the fireplace. My children even trucked in a 3 ft "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree the first day that we put in a pail and decorated with a string of lights. It was a precious memory.

We did not see a bear, but saw the most beautiful buck with a full rack of antlers. We have never seen an antlered deer before.

Enjoying this area so much, we spent one afternoon driving the mountain looking for our own "track of land" to buy. Didn't make any commitments though. We plan to revisit the cabin in the summer.

The driving directions were spot on. It couldn't have been easier and the cabin was nicely stocked with kitchen utensils and lighters for the fire pits. There was even a log ready to be lit in the fireplace upon our arrival that cold evening.

The best thing about our trip is that we were driving home to Florida on Christmas Day after spending the week there, and awoke to snow on Christmas morning. Our children were beside themselves. They have never seen snow. They made tiny little snow men and we all had a family snowball fight before we left. The view of that snow falling from the huge windows of the cabin into the trees and all along the mountains was breathtakingl

This was a celebration trip for our family in honor of a two-year breast cancer survival adventure and we just feel so blessed to have met this milestone and to have had this experience as a reflection of what we have discovered truly matters in our lives.

Breathtaking, Peaceful and Serene Getaway, Away from it All!

  • 5 of 5

Me and My Fiance had a lovely experience in this wonderful cabin. If you are looking to get away from it all, and want someplace quiet to relax, bbq and look up at the stars, then this is the place. If you know how to make a fire then it's definitely time to make some s'mores during your visit. Want to do some hiking, then visit nearby Amicacola Falls. The cabin has all the accommodations for long and short stays just remember to bring food and snacks! It was great to wake up every morning to the sun filling the space and delightful view of the forest. A fun game for the kids would be to count all the mini bear statues around the cabin, but there are also fun family board games, books and cards as well. Mary Beth has definitely thought of everything to make you feel right at home!

A perfectly unplugged vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We went to GA for the first time with our teenagers and toddlers. We wanted an experience that both age groups could enjoy!! This cabin and location was fabulous!! The cabin has everything you need, from

Kitchen, to beds, games, movies!! Everything is clean and comfortable and everyone felt right at home!!

The deck with the firebug was our favorite part!! Even at 90 degree weather right when we can home from

Our activities my teenage son and husband would get the fire going! It was so peaceful to sit and relax.. Smores every night after dinner enjoyed in the mountain air, completely secluded from everyone else!! When little ones went to bed we had game night i

Morning time was PJ's on the deck and property.. Breakfast outside as well some days!! So relaxing!!!!

The creek at the resort is beautiful a little intimidating the drive at first but after a cpl days was much more comfortable!!! Our bigger kids loved this creek! The pool close to the cabin was perfect. Never saw ppl there! Great to just go an relax after a fun day of hiking!

What to do! The town of talking rock has a cpl general stores. One had gem mining and gold mining for the younger kids! A great shaded park by a awesome creek!! Bring your water shoes!!!

We did the Amiacola Falls Park!!!! The views of the mountains on the drive were amazing!!!

They had a nice easy hike to th falls and more Difficult ones for the ones who were looking for a challenge. Go up to the lounge to the veranda!! It's a sight you don't want to miss!!! Absolutely spectacular.

We went to Carters lake to

geocache around and to the visitor center!! Again amazing views!! Pokemon stops;)

We came across the Dam area which is pretty neat area, right at the beginning of a the river.. They had picnic benches and some fishing going on there!

Went tubing on Toccoa River Rafting Company, 6$ a tube. We did the shorter trip 1 1/2... So much fun!! Great for both ages!! Kids were able to jump off and swim and we all tethered together so we didn't get seperated! Once again have water shoes. There is a place right before we got there on the main town that sold them if they r needed!

Bart Bait, has some groceries and yummy ice cream:) and tackle and a dollar general right in the area for things u might run out of at the grocery store.

The people in the area were all super nice and helpful..

Mary Beth was there when we had a question

Love love loved this vacation!! Miss the house and the time spent with my family unplugged
