This is a perfect location for a retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life! Windancer Lodge is perfect for large families and reunions, or for a couple to snuggle up together in solitude. The lodge easily accommodates 16 people with plenty of rooms and beds for everyone. Each morning you’ll wake up to breathtaking views of Cascade Lake and West Mountain visible from the front side of the lodge. Enjoy relaxing dinners on the huge balcony overlooking a sleepy meadow on the backside. While enjoying the scenery, you are likely to spot a fox, rabbit or deer passing by. A large campfire area is available adjacent to the cabin for roasting marshmallows and enjoying the stars!

Comfortable and upscale furniture is found throughout the cabin. The main living room area accommodates two split areas. One can snuggle by the fire on one side, or sit and enjoy mountain and lake views on the other. The lodge has places of refuge for everyone! With large bedrooms, and a loft upstairs with books to read, everyone is sure to find a special spot for some privacy and solitude. Downstairs you’ll enjoy a game and entertainment room where children and adults can play with Nintendo games, watch DVD's, play air hockey, throw darts, or play pool; Another TV/DVD/VCR available in the Master Bedroom. Parking is no problem--there is room to park a boat, RV and several cars! Additional parking and public boat launch are just yards away at the public campground. You can even leave your boat in the only protected bay on the southern end of the lake and walk up to the cabin.

In the summer, the lake is often glassy making perfect conditions for water sports like wake boarding and skiing. The fishing is also fantastic! Be prepared to catch a perch a minute in the summer! Ride some of the best white water in the state just 15 minutes from our door. The Cabarton is a perfect family run and the Main Payette (30 min. away) is a bit more challenging in higher water.)

In the winter, the lake is blanketed with a solid layer of ice and snow making snowmobiling and ice fishing a must! Trails for motorcycles, mountain biking, horseback riding. snowmobiling are literally either out our back door or just up the street. Snowmobile across the lake and up West Mountain where there are miles of snowmobiling trails. Tamarack ski resort is only 30 minutes away. Brundage ski resort is 1 hour away. We have the best tubing hill just outside our back door! Or we can point you to an even bigger hill where we take our snowmobiles and haul kids up to the top for non stop fun!

Homebodies can stay indoors and enjoy Satellite DirecTV. Don't miss your favorite team! High Speed Wifi internet is also available for your convenience. Cell phone coverage is available too.

The Lodge is always clean and fully stocked. We are used to feeding large crowds with large pans, crock pots, etc. We have blenders, mixers, coffee pot, toaster oven, air popcorn popper, large griddles and more. Washer and dryer available too.

Come get away! Windancer Lodge is the perfect place to stay!

About Susan Mitchell Kerr

We love the outdoors! Snowboarding, wakeboarding, kiteboarding, windsurfing, etc.

Susan Mitchell Kerr purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Susan Mitchell Kerr chose Southwestern Idaho

I grew up on a small private lake in Northern California and this is as close to the Huck Finn childhood that I remembered. It has it all. Rafting, kaying, canoeing, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, sailing, boating, kiteboarding/skiing. Perfect sunsets. Campfires and warm cozy fires in the fall. It's the greatest.

What makes this cabin unique

Sledding out our back door. Snowmobiling right out our back door. Walking just a few hundred yards to the beach. Parking our boat in the cove. Hanging out with family. Puzzles by the fire. Family reunions with room for everyone. Wildlife. Fall walks. Eating out at local restaurants like 'Grammas' and the LakeView restaurant. Hunting and motorcycle riding on trails nearby. Horse back riding in the fall especially. White Water Rafting just 15 minutes away. You name it we've got it!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Our Family Of DC, Nampa & Caldwell had a great reunion here at the Windancer Lodge! While we did not catch a single fish (we really tried), we nevertheless enjoyed the beautiful views, the comfortable accomomdations and the JOY of Family.

Sending our best to the Kerr Family and hoping you have many more fun times here in Cascade!

Another Cascade wedding

  • 5 of 5

What an excellent base for a family reunion ! With family here in town we all seem to gather in Cascade every July for a large (or small) reunion. And what better time to have a wedding ! Five branches of the family have had a early July wedding so we have had many opportunities to sample the variety of rentals in the area.

By far Windancer has been a favorite. With the great Kitchen/ dining table and overflow on the benches on the back porch we could assemble everyone here. The large playroom in the basement kept the "littles" occupied for hours. Upon discovery of Brian Kerr's artwork the house took on an even greater appeal.

As my only daughter enjoys her wedding, we welcome anther branch of the family to continue to enjoy Idaho hospitality.

We will be back. Thank you so much for sharing your gem with our family.

Owner's Response: There is nothing that pleases us more than to hear that our guests enjoyed Windancer Lodge as much as we enjoy it! What a fun event it must have been to celebrate a wedding in the beautiful Cascade Lake setting. We hope you feel welcome to return next year and we have some exciting improvements coming down the pipeline in 2016/2017. New kitchen counter tops, finishing off the upper and lower decking with a stairwell, and a rock fireplace inside the cabin, just to name a it just gets better and better. We thank you for choosing Windancer! Come again!

The home was beautiful and very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

I love the location of this home and the views. The home was comfortable and spacious. My kids loved the game room downstairs. I loved the round table in the kitchen as a gathering place. The view from the back deck was breathtaking. We were able to see some yearling deer and their mom. The owner was very responsive to questions prior to our trip. Felt like there was a personal touch. We would definitely consider booking again. Thank you

Relaxing vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a very nice stay, perfect for just relaxing and hanging out. House had plenty of room and was very comfortable. Very peaceful neighborhood and we had deer and a fox run right through the yard! My kids had an awesome time sledding right outside the house. Carbon monoxide detector was beeping with a low battery when we arrived but thankfully the house had everything we needed, even extra batteries! Thanks for a great spring break!!!

Owner's Response: We are thrilled you had such a great time at our cabin. So glad the local wildlife visited! The deer are quite tame!!! I'm here today and it is so beautiful it is breathtaking. The lake has thawed and the snow is nearly gone! Thanks for the tip about our detector. I'm going to make sure we always have extra batteries here....just in case a smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector decide to get noisy. Thanks for leaving our home so clean. It is always nice when our guests take such good care of our "home away from home". Please come again!!!!

Roomy lodge with excellent views

  • 5 of 5

First of all I would like to say that Susan, the homeowner was a pleasure to work with. I ran into a few snafu's with billing but Susan worked with me. The drive up there was beautiful driving along the Payette River. And then arriving to the lodge, it looked just like the pictures online. The view of the lake and surrounding area was just picturesque and the lodge was walking distance to the lake. The lodge was well stocked with practically everything you needed. The bedrooms were nicely furnished with lots of beds and the 2 bathrooms were roomy. We all loved the large kitchen and the round table with the lazy susan. We made good use of the 2 living room spaces allowing all of us space without feeling on top of each other. The outside had a nice area with a view of the lake to do s'mores. We did have to put up with mosquitoes, but the lodge had citronella candles which helped. Although we did use the deck for some bird watching and grilling, we did not spend much time out there as there was a people limit and rightfully so because maybe it could use a little more reinforcement and updating to match the rest of the lodge. It had a different view yet still a nice peaceful one. The lodge was just the right size for the 9 of us. All in all we had a great time up there especially at Kelly Whitewater Park and fishing. If we lived in Idaho (we were from CA visiting family) we definitely would go back. Thank you.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to have Olinda and her family as guests. They were ideal guests and left our Lodge in great shape. Thank you! I loved hearing of your adventures. The deck is scheduled for renovation at the end of this summer. Although the deck is safe for up to 10 people, we plan to replace the upper deck, build a new lower deck and connect the two by a stairway. New french doors have been ordered that will open the walk-out basement to the beautiful meadow view. We hope you will come again and enjoy our new additions!
