The National Geographic Society used the Northgate House for eight weeks during 2014 while working on an upcoming Yellowstone film documentary. They lived at the Northgate house while making the film and used the garage for their film editing. They also set up a blind in the yard to film some of the local wildlife. Those that have rented the Northgate House will recognize some of the scenes in the upcoming National Geographic film.
The North Gate House is a beautiful, vacation home completed in 2008. The house has approximately 2,160 square feet of space on three levels.
There are many special touches throughout the house from the soaring 21 foot high ceiling of the great room to the solid oak, wide plank flooring, to the custom glass paneled deck. From the wall of windows in the comfort of the great room or outside from the deck, you will have unobstructed views into Yellowstone where herds of elk and bison can often be seen grazing. Big horn sheep are often viewed walking the ridge behind the house.
The house includes a fully equipped kitchen with a large capacity dishwasher, above the range microwave and beautiful hickory cabinets. There is central heat and air with individual controls for each floor (a must for high desert summers where temperatures can reach the 90's at times), HD satellite televisions, high speed internet access, high efficiency washer and dryer, a Renai hot water system (you'll never run out of hot water)and a bathroom on each level.
The lower level bedroom consists of two twin/single beds, an HD television, blu-ray player and Xbox system with 15 games and 4 controllers. The main floor bedroom has a double bed, HD television and blu-ray player, while the upper level bedroom consists of a queen size bed with a High Definition/satellite television system and blu-ray player. There is also a High Definition 3D/satellite television system with blu-ray player in the great room.
Situated in the quaint town of Gardiner, you will be able to find anything you need. There are many cafes, restaurants and numerous shops, a grocery store, post office and bank. There are fishing guides, rafting companies and outfitters that offer horseback riding both in and outside of the park.
The fishing in the area is wonderful and inside the house you will find instructional videos on flyfishing plus a book guiding you to the different waters in Yellowstone which are all just a short drive away. There are two Blue Ribbon streams within a mile of the house, the Yellowstone which is 3 blocks away and the Gardiner River approximately 1 mile.
In the winter there are many available activities such as ice skating at Mammoth Hot Springs (6 miles from the house), snowshoeing in Yellowstone and the surrounding area or cross country skiing. There is snowmobiling with rentals available in and out of the park, down hill skiing at Bridger Bowl (94 miles away) or Big Sky (175 miles) and our favorite - wildlife viewing in the Lamar Valley where you will likely see herds of bison, elk and possibly some of the Yellowstone wolves.
After a long hard day of activities you can relax in the hot springs of Boiling River on the Gardiner River (3 miles away) then come home to the luxury of our new house overlooking Gardiner, The Northgate House.
Thanks for the use of your beautiful home. We have been renting homes for many years and your home was the most well stocked & accommodating house we have stayed in yet. Thank you for the attention to details and the nice added touches. This was our 1st trip to Yellowstone & your house made it that much better!
Me and my 3 kids scoured the internet looking for an ideal base camp for our recent Yellowstone adventure. As a divorced dad, my time with my kids is special and it was important to me that the cabin/house was really nice and comfortable. Well, I assure you that this property won't disappoint you. The house has everything you could think. And, for you cooking/bbqing types - well, you will be impressed. The bbq works great and the kitchen is very well stocked to support whatever you come up with to include a very thoughtful crock pot that is great for ribs or a pork shoulder roast for shredded tacos after a day in the park.
And, just a tip, there is a great little grocery store just down the road from the cabin that has everything you could want if you forget anything. And the washer and dryer was modern and very nice - quite the touch - especially with three very active and adventurous kids. The cabin is also very comfortable with cable tv and internet for those down times when you are preparing your days adventure or getting back from one. And to top it off, the deck and views are absolutely stunning!!
The home was very clean when we arrived, and had little notes/directions reminding us of house rules and giving us important information. It was well furnished with everything one could possibly need or desire! I think there were more kitchen gadgets than in my own home! There was also a great selection of movies and Wii/X-box games for those rainy days, with plenty of blankets to cozy up into. The spacious and welcoming environment was perfect to end an adventurous day in Yellowstone!
The owner was wonderful and was always available to help us whenever we had a question or when problems arose (our car broke down). The next time we plan to come to the area we definitely will be in contact. Thank you so much for a wonderful trip!
Our family of four (with young children) stayed at the North Gate House. It was beautiful and had everything we needed! The kids loved the 3D movies, x-box, and Wii.
This was my first experience renting a home and the North Gate House set the bar high!! I never want to rent a hotel room again.
Gardiner Mt is beautiful and this house has the best views. We enjoyed the park and seen lots of wildlife. We also enjoyed white water rafting and horse back riding!! Thanks for opening your home to us!!
The` North Gate House was more than we expected. We spent 5 days their & wish we could have stayed 14. It was well maintained , very clean & they go out of their way to make sure their guest are taken care of.3 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms were on different levels so that made it nice. Plenty of hot water for everyone also. You felt at home their it was just like being home. We were very comfortable during are stay their. Can't wait till next year as we will be going back for 12 days . We have rented houses before but none could compare to the North Gate House.
Where do I begin? Absolutely magnificent! Better than any hotel that you can stay at. Nothing lacking.
From welcome goodies to tea strainers, comfy beds to bath toiletries. Northgate House has it all. The views
from the great room are grandiose! Snow capped mountains at every view. The owners anticipate your every need.
You are a very short distance from the north entrance to Yellowstone Park. We were able to access every
area of the park open this time of year. Gardiner, Mt. is a quaint little town with shops and markets. We have family that lives in Gardiner and had a wonderful time. I could go on and on, but enough said. Take a vacation
of a lifetime and experience the Northgate House. Thank you Rick and Cheryl.
This was our second stay at the Northgate house and it will not be our last. I am continually impressed by the level of detail that Rick and Cheryl put into making the house a perfect home away from home. The kitchen is extremely well stocked. There wasn't a cooking need that the kitchen did not fulfill during our stay. The crockpot and griddle were both wonderful for us. The snack basket was also very much appreciated. The coolers provided were very handy for taking drinks into the park. I really can't recommend this house enough.
