Cozy and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this wonderful cottage. It is a comfortable size for 2, had a stocked kitchen for our breakfasts and occasional dinners, including a lobster dinner with amazingly fresh lobster from down the street at ridiculous affordable price. I loved stepping out into what feels like a mini forest to have my breakfast, and relax in the sunny airy upstairs bedroom or the wonderful tub after a day of being outdoors. It is 30 min from Bar Harbor, and on the quieter side of the Mount Desert island. And I particularly appreciated Robin and Marc's guide, with more suggestions of what to do than I had time to explore. Would certainly come back!

Perfection for us

  • 5 of 5

We live in an old quiet section of Oklahoma City, and it is wonderful to escape "back home" after adventuring out into the hustle and bustle of the city. It is the same with Seamist. After an exciting day with the crowds of eastern Mt Desert Island, it was heaven to return to the sanity of our home away from home nestled amongst our own maple forest. A few steps from the sea-viewing, outdoor tables of the Seafood Ketch Restaurant, down the road from the prettiest lighthouse on the Maine coast, and around the corner from the most beautiful hike on the island. The studio kitchen is extremely well stocked with gadgets, utensils, and more than we needed essentials despite being active chefs ourselves. The "fish man" and his pick-up truck stand on the short drive to Southwest Harbor provided seafood fare caught a few hours previously. St. John's Episcopal Church in Southwest Harbor on Sunday was extremely friendly, and across the street from the church was Cafe 2 providing blueberry-stuffed brunch delights. Marc and Robin provided their own personal "guide book" for our stay. The upstairs "loft" bedroom was airy and roomy. It was a thrill every morning to open carefully an eye to our Maine world as visualized through the skylight above the bed. The closet off the bath was roomy. Guidebooks, maps, and reading material abounded. We may never return to this part of the world at our age, but we strongly recommend for those that do to consider Seamist!

Perfect for two

  • 5 of 5

The Seamist was a cozy place to relax after a day exploring the park. It was close enough to the places we wanted to see but quiet and peaceful at the end of the day. We posted pictures on Facebook and have friends who are interested in staying there!

Wonderful stay

  • 4 of 5

The Seamist Cottage apartment was perfect for me travelling solo with my dog. It was nicely equipped, peaceful, reasonably priced and only about 5 minutes or so from Southwest Harbor. Loved the jacuzzi tub after a long day of hiking! The only potential negative is it is a bit far from Bar Harbor, and nothing much was open in the Bass Harbor/Southwest Harbor area in early May. However, it is right around the corner from Bass Harbor lighthouse, Ship Harbor, and Seawall. Also, Bernard and Mansell Mt hiking trails are nearby.

One of best vacations ever!

  • 5 of 5

We loved Acadia National Park! Seamist Cottage was a great home base for us. It's very close to Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, Wonder Land, and Ship Harbor so you can do easy, beautiful hikes with very little driving. The 30 minute drive to the main part of Acadia National Park was not bad at all - we did it most days. It was so nice to return to our cozy, quiet cottage which was equipped with everything we needed. Robin was very quick to respond to any questions or requests. We would recommend Seamist without reservation, and hope to return someday.
