About the property

Non-smoking Villa 2 Bedroom, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2 or four)

Anchorage Aweigh is our exquisite 2 bedroom villa overlooking Coral Bay harbor. This couples-only villa boasts a centrally located pool and large pool deck with picturesque views of Coral Bay, St John. Anchorage Aweigh villa is comprised of a main house with two master suites. If only one bedroom is desired, the upper bedroom will be available. If a second bedroom is desired, we will open up the lower bedroom. Both bedrooms are located on separate floors and allow maximum privacy. The maximum number of guests at any given time is four. It is a tranquil and serene setting with spectacular views of Coral Bay harbor, mountains and the historical 250+year-old Moravian Church.

The villa has travertine marble floors, cable railing, air-conditioned bedrooms, outdoor stone showers, full kitchen, indoor/outdoor living and dining areas, a gas grill, laundry facility and a pool that is all tiled. All of the appliances are new and include a full-sized stainless steel refrigerator, gas range, microwave and dishwasher.

Please note our calendar is accurate and up to date.

The villa offers two equal king-sized bedrooms with gorgeous brand new furniture. The mattresses are Serta memory foam with cooling gel. The upper bedroom is on the main level. It opens out to a screened-in covered porch. The bedroom is air conditioned. The bathroom has a granite vanity. Attached to the bathroom is an outdoor stone shower under an open air roof. The second king bedroom is located on the lower pool level, facing the harbor. It has the very same amenities as the upper bedroom. It has a covered porch facing the harbor, which is not screened-in

The kitchen has blue pearl granite counters with an exquisite glass tile backsplash. It is filled with all of the amenities you will need to prepare many gourmet meals. There is an indoor dining table to enjoy should you decide to eat inside.

The living room has two love seats overlooking both the church and harbor. There is a 12' sliding glass door facing the harbor for you to enjoy the panoramic views. There is a flat-screened television with DVD/DISH in here as well.

The main house has an expansive wrap-around porch. We have an oversized sectional outdoor couch to relax and enjoy the view. There is also a dining table to enjoy meals alfresco. Sit and enjoy a cool drink on the breezy, covered porch while watching the sailboats bobbing on the harbor.

From the living room, the pool and lower bedroom are accessed through an indoor set of stairs.

Sunday mornings are a special time here. You’ll hear the church bells ring @ 9:30 am. The traditions of this historic, over 250 year old, Moravian church can be felt through the choral singing that drifts up the hillside. It’s an extraordinary experience you’ll not soon forget.

Coral Bay is located on the quiet, mellow side of St. John. A 2-minute drive down the hill will bring you to a variety of shopping, restaurant and entertainment options. Beaches and the National Park hiking trails can all be found a short distance away.

You'll definitely want a rental car so you can take advantage of some of the most pristine views of the lush, tropical hillsides and aqua blue seas. The 'busy' town of Cruz Bay is a 20 minute drive away.

This house has been an ongoing dream of ours and we have taken great pride in the construction of it. You can see our hard work on our blog that can be found on Google.

We have completed a gorgeous 10 x 20 mosaic tiled swimming pool overlooking the harbor, with a 600 sq. ft. pool deck and adjacent tropical garden. Part of it is shaded by a huge royal palm tree and part is under cover of a shaded porch. The pool is a saline pool - meaning there is very little chemical use. Your hair, skin and clothing will not be affected as they might with a chlorinated system.

Adjacent to the main house, yet completely separate, is our cottage. It is a one-bedroom unit that is our living quarters while we are in St. John part-time. The main house and cottage were designed with privacy in mind. As you can see in the photographs, both houses face in different directions. The two houses share the pool and pool deck. Keeping privacy in mind, we do not use the pool when guests are present.

As you can see from our reviews, Anchorage Aweigh has become a popular vacation destination. We hope that you will find our villa, and the island of St. John itself, a wonderful place for your holiday.

Paradise perfection in Coral Bay on St John!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd year in a row visiting St John during the holiday season with our 2 teenage kids. We chose Anchorage Aweigh based on it's location and amenities. Owners Scott and Patricia have taken great care in building their dream vacation villa and live on property in the villa next door. Couldn't ask for a nicer couple to rent from. They have been on island for several years and are very knowledgeable for off the beaten path things to do. The villa is nestled in the Sea Grape hillside and protected from the seasonal trade winds that can be brutal at higher elevations. The landscaping is full of fruit trees, native plants, and is very well maintained. Besides the daily activities of snorkeling, hiking, and exploring the island, we thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent at the villa. Sunrise breakfast/coffee on the covered patio each morning listening to the wildlife and watching the boats in the bay was a perfect way to start the day. This villa has everything you need for a home away from home. 2 king bedrooms each with it's own outdoor shower (so relaxing!), fully equipped kitchen, outdoor grill, beach towels/chairs, coolers, tons of books and dvds to relax with after a long day in the sun. We used the pool several times and it was perfect temperature to cool off from the daily activities. Scott and Patricia have made paradise perfection in this well appointed villa that we highly recommend for a St John getaway!

Four Worldwide Travelers

From our first communication with the owners, Scott and Patricia, we were well taken care of. First, the villa is a welcoming, well decorated and warm retreat. It sits above Coral Bay with scenic views 24/7 and has the ability to help you "kick back" immediately. The kitchen has all the pans and serving utensils you need to cook in or just snack and have an afternoon swim in the pool after visiting one of the many accessible beaches. Scott spent additional time showing my husband some good fishing spots and they both recommended great eating establishments. Yes, the cost of food is high on St John, but you are on an island retreat. You will not be disappointed and will have exceptional support if this is your first time on the island.

We really developed a nice friendship with both Scott and Patricia. They are honest, hard working and aim to please. We were in command of any privacy we desired, but they were fun to hang with, too. We literally have only positive comments and would return in a flash.

We recently returned from what can only be described as a perfect vacation experience at Anchorage Aweigh. Scott and Patricia, the friendly owners, have created a gorgeous home overlooking equally gorgeous Coral Bay. The attention to detail in this stunning home is amazing, and is made even more so by the fact that the owners built this home themselves. The house was immaculately clean when we arrived and Scott and Patrica anticipated our every need, from a well stocked kitchen to coolers and beach chairs.

My husband and I were traveling with friends, and the house is perfect for two couples traveling together. There are two equally lovely master bedrooms on separate floors, each with air conditioning comfortable beds with luxury linens (and great pillows!), private bathrooms with fabulous outdoor showers with plenty of luxurious towels. I saw several reviews here stating the lack of hot water for showers. We didn’t experience that at all. Even with all four of us showering after a day at the beach we found hot water was always available.

We spent a lot of time on the wrap around porch, enjoying our breakfast out there before setting off for the day’s adventures, and sitting back with a glass of wine and the lovely views in the late afternoon before going out to dinner at one of Coral Bay’s great restaurants.

We also enjoyed a dip in the saline pool most afternoons after a day at one of the beautiful St. John beaches.

Scott and Patricia were living in the cottage on the property, and were available for a friendly chat and to give advice if we wanted, but also were very thoughtful of our privacy and had we not initiated conversation, we probably wouldn’t have known they were around. Three cheers for perfect VRBO owners! Thank you Scott and Patricia for sharing your home with us. All four of us agreed that we had a perfect stay at Anchorage Aweigh and would highly recommend this beautiful home to anyone.

Perfect get away

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have asked for a better honeymoon. Scott and Patricia were the perfect hosts and treated us as if we were family. They helped us find our way from the ferry dock to our rental car location and showed us around coral bay. The view is better than any of the pictures and the pool is an amazing plus. We spent our days exploring all the great hiking and snorkeling spots and our evenings dining at the local restaurants. The highlight of the trip was kayaking and snorkeling the mangroves with Scott, Patricia and their friends. Could not have ask for a better week. We will be returning in the near future.

Amazing Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and two of our friends stayed at Anchorage Aweigh in late March 2015. We both rented Jeeps at the airport, which was more expensive but very convenient. We stopped at Cost-U-Less for groceries on St. Thomas before taking the car barge over to St. John. When we arrived on the island, Marc was there to greet us and show us to the house. I was initially shocked by the steep hills and sharp turns of the roads but after that first day we acclimated as many have stated. Both of our Jeeps parked nicely on the property as well. The property is on Seagrape Hill which is centrally located in Coral Bay with quick access to town - restaurants, shops, groceries, etc. The view is amazing from the porch of each cottage! We enjoyed eating breakfast outside every morning while listening to the donkeys, goats and sheep down the hill. We loved watching the hummingbirds and bananaquits, as well. The pool was refreshing at the end of the day - it is larger than it looks in pictures. Each cottage/house has all the amenities of home, literally everything you could need. The owners have provided paper towels, Tide, toilet paper, hand soaps, etc. We bought some of these things at cost-u-less but did not need to! They have beach chairs and coolers to take with you on your adventures. You will need snorkel equipment - we rented from Crabby's in Coral Bay for $40 each for the week at Marc's recommendation and that worked out just fine. The cottages are extremely clean and I felt like I entered a luxury villa upon arrival. This is a lovely place for a honeymoon. However, it was also perfect as a trip with friends as each couple has their own complete living space. The linens and towels are soft and new. There are also plenty of large, plush beach towels! Nothing has been overlooked. Both cottages are spacious and have an open air feeling to them - but also have excellent a/c in the bedrooms for a pleasant night's sleep. Marc was very helpful and a breeze to work with but the owners checked in with us too. Other folks who have stayed mentioned the cold showers. My husband and I stayed in the main house and didn't mind the temperature of the water. Our friends said theirs was a bit chillier than expected. I personally don't like a really hot shower and found the water to be warm enough and refreshing. Also, who doesn't love the treat of an outdoor shower? We would absolutely recommend this property and can't wait until we can return again!

Perfect Honeymoon

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Anchorage Aweigh June 21-28, 2015. We arrived and rented a small car from the airport, dropped by a local grocery store in St. Thomas then hopped on the Car Ferry to St. John's. We met Marc and St. Johns roads were a bit scary due to the steep hills and hairpin turns. When we arrived at Anchorage Aweigh we were pleasantly surprised. The place was clean, and fully equipped. The pool was extremely nice and larger than expected. Without a hot water heater, we were grateful to have a hot shower every night. The air-conditioned bedroom was a plus, we slept well the entire trip!

We did not need a four wheel drive at any point on the trip and we were happy to have a small car to easily pass others on the narrow roads. We were told only one road on the island required a 4-wheel drive vehicle.

The only thing Anchorage Aweigh didn’t supply that is a must is snorkel gear and mask defogger. We loved snorkeling every day! Anchorage Aweigh had a new washer and dryer on the property, however it was not listed on the amenities. Note: No need to purchase: tide, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, or beach towels. Anchorage Aweigh will have everything you will need.

We truly loved Anchorage Aweigh and felt comfortable and pampered, we highly recommend this place.
