Welcome to Gone Fishin' Cabin, our home away from home in the Northwest! My husband and I both have busy careers. And like most working parents, we are challenged by balancing family needs with work schedules. The cabin is our little Puget Sound waterfront get away from the chaos of normal life. Here, we can enjoy a stroll on the beach with the sea breeze in our hair, take in the amazing oceanfront view while sipping our morning coffee, and listen to the crashing waves from the deck lounge. And the best part, the kids can play on the beach, go clamming, learn to fish or kayak in front of the cabin. Happy memories are made of these...!
Kim and Arne Schrider purchased this cabin in 2005
Gone Fishin' Cabin is in the amazing Puget Sound and within an hour from Seattle. We're super family friendly. It's easy to travel to the cabin, either by Ferry or by road. It's in a small rural village, but also close to Gig Harbor, a seaside port with a pedestrian waterfront, quaint shops, restaurants, and all amenities.
As a family, we love just hanging out by the water and enjoying a relaxing time BBQing, fishing, crabbing, clamming, kayaking, snuggling with a book, or playing board games. When we feel really ambitious, then we go for a long walk on the beach. Taking it easy is what we enjoy best at the cabin.
This was our third visit to this cabin and I we just love it there. I almost did not write this review because I selfishly don't want to many people know about it. It has a big half covered sun deck with an amazing view of the water along Colvos Passage and you are looking straight across at Vashon Island. It is about 20 minutes out of Gig Harbor and alittle tricky to find but well worth it when you do get there,I would suggest getting good directions or using a GPS. The cabin is a rancher with a nice nautical theme and a well equipped kitchen . Two bedrooms , one with a queen bed ,one with kids bunk beds , and a pull out sofa bed in the living room. It is a very comfortable place to stay. There is a small store a short drive away if you need anything but not much else around which is perfect for a relaxing holiday . Take a drive to Manchester to see a view of Seattle plus take the ferry to Vashon Island for a nice day out. If you stay here there is no way you could be disappointed it is a great spot. We will be going back.

I didn't want to leave! It's a very cute place right on the water. The cabin was clean and well equipped (I cooked during my stay and everything I needed was there). The deck was marvelous...so relaxing to sit and watch the water/marine life. I would go back there in a heartbeat.
We recently spent three nights at Gone Fishin' Cabin near Gig Harbor. We were there for a wedding, so we didn't have time to enjoy the outdoor features as much as we'd have liked. We hope to return and make the most of the water, the two-tier patio, the fire pit, the hammock and the unexplored play house during a future visit.
The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils and pans we needed. I had overlooked the washer and dryer when I read the property description, so finding them was a big plus. The location was lovely and quite quiet the weekend we were there.
The owners made check-in and check-out easy.
I would definitely recommend it to others.
My family and I were visiting the Seattle area but knew we did not want to stay in the city more than one night. This cabin was a perfect fit. We had the best time relaxing on the deck. We even got to see and hear whales! We were not at the location much but when we were - we were out on the deck. The deck was so peaceful just watching the boats go by. We made a small fire every night at the fire pit and my kids would have s'mores. We are from Florida and love to fish so my husband and son also tried their hand at that but were unsuccessful. We went back into the city once but spent time quite a lot of time in the town of Gig Harbor. The owner had a book with everything to do in the area and ferry schedules which was incredibly helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there! The property was well maintained and everything was as described. My kids are much older but the little kids house was adorable and I could definitely see little ones enjoying it.
Great stay, minor snaffu with Key upon arrival that was resolved quickly. The place could not be more ideally positioned.
The crab shack we were counting on as an extra spot for a couple which didn't work for our folks - its a rustic camping type of option - a garden shed essentially. Good for a childrens playhouse. I would not want want young kids out there all night but older kids or rustic couples (wish ours were!) would be fine with it I am sure.
The kitchen has all you need and you could stare at the sound for hours / days from the comfy porch!
Would absolutely go back, thanks for a lovely stay!
Our family stayed here late in June 2016. The cottage sits on Puget Sound, and gives beautiful views of the water. You emerge from the bedroom and see a bright view of the water from the large picture windows in front. The cottage is well stocked with books, games, and kitchenware. It is clean and comfortable. The front deck is over a rocky seawall that requires climbing down rocks to the beach, which is only uncovered by low tide. We enjoyed walks along the beach and our kids got endless amusement from overturning rocks and chasing crabs. We would highly recommend this place to anyone, and we may return here again in the future.
Crab Shack play shed with sleeping loft... Giant Gorilla outdoor play structure, board games, children's toys and fishing poles are available for your stay!
Private buoy in front of cabin to secure your boat... Enjoy!
