About Owner

Our story is a great one, we had a dream and we were lucky enough to have lived it for three years here in Costa Rica.

From buying our first home to having our first child we have nothing but great memories to take with us on the road of life.

Now we share our home so that others can have the chance to experience what we have even if just for a short while.

Owner purchased this villa in 2007

What makes this villa unique

On our first Costa Rican vacation we just happened to stumble upon this great property and we fell in love with it at first sight.

Just the spacious open porch was an immediate invite.

Since it is located towards the back of the compound there is more privacy and a lush green environment surrounding it.

The Titi monkeys love our porch also, they come around almost daily to see if there is a banana to steal from the table. They are endangered so feeding them is not allowed so that we do not pass any germs or bacteria that can harm them.

This is a perfect place to be one with nature or just watch it around you.

Happy vacationing!!!

Come for the wildlife!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Casa de Mariposa February 4-9, 2016. Here we saw the best wildlife of our stay in Manuel Antonio--better than in the parks. From the comfortable deck of the house, we observed a troop of howler monkeys, including babies clinging to adult backs; a playful group of squirrel monkeys jumping in the palms and cecropia tree, scarlet macaws, toucans, several humming birds, black squirrels and butterflies. For the best chance to see animals and birds, get up early (6:00 AM) to have coffee and breakfast with entertainment. And plan to be back on the deck for drinks by 5:00 PM. We were able to do this with fun trips each day (MA National Park, Rainmaker Park, Hacienda Baru in Dominical, and MA beach).

This house worked well for two couples. We each took a level with our own bedroom and bathroom. We cooked together in the upstairs kitchen and ate on the deck. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a crockpot in which we made black beans to have each day.

Keep in mind that there are always glitches in travel. We had a hard time locating the place even with a map. Once we found it, the property manager didn't have us listed as arriving that day so the house wasn't ready. However, it all worked out. We had a cold beer on the deck while the house was readied for us. We found the complex beautiful and well maintained and the neighbors friendly.

Note: stop at the store to pick up some toilet paper, trash bags, Clorox wipes, laundry detergent, and paper towels. This will help you maintain the house during your stay.

I highly recommend Casa de Mariposa for travelers interested in wildlife viewing and relaxing with friends!

Excellent place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Very well kept and taken care of and location is great right between Quepos and Manuel Antonio park/beaches. It is a multi property gated in condo, we felt very safe and the atmosphere was great, monkeys even came to visit. Bus stop is right outside too.

Quiet, Clean, Secluded, Nice Place, With Pool

  • 5 of 5

My cousin and I stayed in Casa Mariposa for 4 nights. The house is clean, comfortable and so conveniently located, close to everything. Loved the swimming pool! Pia is the on site manager, she lives in Chaman, which is a gated community, she will greet you , give you the keys and make sure all is well, and if there's anything wrong she she will not give up until it's right, Agi, the owner will go out of her way to aid anyway possible, we needed batteries for TV remote and Agi called Pia and we had them in 15 mins. You can't go wrong with this place,

Lovely house in beautiful setting

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here in Chaman, the house was great and the pool is amazing. We spent most of our time on our balcony watching the amazing selection of wildlife - macaws, iguanas, troops of both Howler and Squirel monkeys, Morpho butterflys and much much more. Pia who managed the house was lovely, helpful when we needed it and left us alone when not. We did not have a car so used the great bus service in and out of Quepos and Manuel Antonio, running every 30 minutes even on Xmas day. Would really recommend this house to anyone who likes a bit of seclusion yet all they need easily available. We visited Manuel Antonio park on 2 occasions which was amazing, Rainmaker Park which was stunning and a night jungle tour which was fantastic, all recommended.

Great spot for our family to stay!

  • 4 of 5

We recently stayed with our two children (ages 7 and 9) along with their grandmother. Casa de Mariposa was a perfect spot to relax after fun days of exploring the region. The Manuel Antonion/Quepos area can get a bit hectic so it was really nice to have this place to come home to - just off the beaten path but just a few minutes walk to catch the local bus to all of the attractions. Hazel and Jonathon were very helpful at giving us suggestions on what to do (including walking to a lovely "locals" beach, enjoying the weekend Farmers' Market in Quepos, etc) and also setting up excellent guides for the National Park. The National Park is quite busy this time of year but even so we all really enjoyed the amount and diversity of wildlife that we saw and we still found some nice trails and beaches that were not overly populated. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked and the pool was a refreshing way to end the day. We have already starting booking our next trip to return!

Our little piece of Eden is located in lush rain forest surroundings. Wildlife is abundant in the complex as well as the terrace. Iguanas visit the sun on the roof everyday and monkeys visit on a regular basis. This was our home for three years and it was the most amazing time in our lives.

We try to make the villa colorful, comfortable, clean and welcoming so that every visitor is content.

Our manager is on the premesis to accomodate every need, from providing information about the area to tour booking.

Manuel Antonio has everything to offer, canopy tours, mangrove tours, sport fishing, breathtaking beaches, great food and hospitality and we offer a great place to rest and relax in between activities.

Come and enjoy our family atmosphere and a have a great Costa Rican vacation.
