Do you understand why our house bears the name 'Arcadia'? 'Arcadia' is a country in which, according to ancient legends, the shepherd god Pan once drove his mischief. Thus wrote the Roman poet Virgil (70-19 v. Chr. Shepherds who played the flute composed and sang and lived life in harmony with nature and its gods, nymphs, satyrs and other hybrid beings. It is a beautiful landscape with shady forests, quietly whispering streams, caves and grottos, with sunlit flower meadows - like a beautiful garden. Later in the Renaissance poets and painters first described in Italy and later throughout Europe again the Arcardien of antiquity. It was idealized: as an aesthetic fiction and utopian vision of happiness. The court of the Medici became at this time a work of art, a wish landscape after arcardischen model. The art of gardening has blossomed, an unreachable, distant landscape becomes, for centuries, a parable of the human yearning for a better world, a life in harmony with oneself, nature and the gods. From the Renaissance to the 19th century Arcadien claimed its place in the history of art. Based on poetry and landscape painting, it became the leitmotif of modern garden art. Arcardia, the land of yearning and love, is almost forgotten today ... start to discover what this wonderful piece of earth can inspire.
