Juniper Patch is a stunning, very bright, peaceful and cheery home, recently renovated with magnificent, unobstructed ocean views from 7 of 9 rooms. A large, grassy expanse and lilac trees border and add to it's private exclusive setting, across from the shingle-style summer homes of the Auburn Colony as featured in Country Home Magazine. Three sides of the property contain private lawns, six perennial gardens bursting with color, blackberry, raspberry, and blueberry bushes, and two apple trees, while the fourth side faces a meadow sloping to the sea. A private path leads to a small pebbly beach in front of the house for swimming or boating; 'swim shoes' are advised for tender feet for children at low tide. A high tide swim into the sunset or early morning wake up call is a treasure hard to duplicate.
Hardwood floors lead from the kitchen to the dining room and to an spacious, light living room (with gas fireplace). French doors open onto a large, wooden elevated deck facing the sea, ideal for relaxing or entertaining. Tastefully furnished with antiques and soft colors, the work of Maine artists hang on the walls. The large, open, outdoor spaces with sea breezes enhance the tranquility, charm and beauty of this Maine paradise.
We had a wonderful two weeks in Louise’s charming cottage. Beautifully decorated, it has a warm and welcoming feel with plenty of room to spread out for reading or board games (provided). The house offers all the amenities, including good Wi-Fi, and has water views from every room. The three bedrooms upstairs are especially comfortable. My husband preferred reading on the deck overlooking the water, and I loved being to walk from the house down to the water for a swim. It’s location is next to the charming Auburn Colony and a short walk from Potts Point and its lobster pound. The location also offers opportunities for walks, and it is an easy drive to kayak/canoe rentals, restaurants, Brunswick, Popham Beach, and Freeport.
Spectacular! Louise's long-time affinity for this beautiful sea-side home in South Harpswell is obvious throughout. The home is decorated marvelously - inside - and the surrounding gardens add a kalidescope of color with the ocean as a stunning backdrop. You name it - the house has it. You can bring home a feast of fresh seafood and vegetables from the nearby market and prepare a dinner to remember. With the huge gas stove, utilisils, cookware, and serving dishes galore - guests can prepare an intimate dinner or enough for a large family. And there is plenty of room for a large family to sleep too - including three nice bathrooms. The house itself is nestled in a private area surrounded by history. Getting out to explore the nooks and crannies of the coastal area and coming home to a comfortable bed simply doesn't compare to standard travel accommodations. We drove extensively throughout the area and found people in Maine to be friendly, informative, relaxed, intelligent and definitely rooted in the history and ruggedness of the territory. Will we visit again, yes we will. And we'll be sure to have our parents and children join us in this fabulous house and region. Loved it!
