Blissful and Historic!
We just returned home from a blissful trip to Bermuda and a wonderful 10 night stay at Taylor House. We had a wonderful time and felt right at home in this 1600's cottage with a walled garden. Mark Rowe, the owner, was delightful and helpful during our stay. We booked 1 year in advance to be sure we got the dates we wanted and I looked at the photos and dreamed of our visit. I was not disappointed! The accommodations were just as photographed. Clean, neat, and inviting. We slept like babies! Rose early, walked the Railway Trail, walked to the beach, and walked to town. We felt like members of the community we lived in and made friends with the neighbors. Definitely we will return one day. We walked to the bus, ferry, restaurants and shops, and the beaches, forts, and other historic attractions. We dined out each night at Wahoo's, The Wharf and the local cafes and the food market and laundry were a 2 block walk. A short walk to church too! Taylor House is a real gem!
The Taylor house is oozing with charm and character. It was built in the 1600's and when you stay there, you get a feel of what life was like in those days. There a 3 sets of "dutch doors" which allow fresh air (and friendly kitties) to come in...enjoy your breakfast and say hello to neighbors walking down the street if you like. Mark provided 2 bus/ferry passes which made getting anywhere a breeze. The bus stop is less than a minute walk down the alley. The perfume factory is next door, and it is sooo wonderful. I can't say enough good things about this charming cottage and wonderful hospitality we received at The Taylor house..will be back for sure!!
Charming cottage with all the comforts of home but in the heart of St George
My mother and I stayed at this property for 6 nights. We felt very safe during our visit. The free bus passes are a great value add to this rental. The bus stop is literally a one to two minute walk from home. Walking distance to multiple beaches, restraunts and grocery store made this a great spot to call home for the week. Kitchen was fully functioning with apartment fridge and stove for making meals in. Mark showed us around the home and was very accommodating with our departure and airport drop off. I will definitely be staying in Taylor House when I return to Bermuda. Thanks for sharing your home with us Mark!!!
My husband and I just returned today from a great 2-week stay at Taylor House. There is so much to do and we didn't have time for it all. Thanks to Mark for including the Bus/Ferry passes with the house. We had fun going to the Peppercorn Ceremony(April 22nd) in King's Square and made many friends. Hubby got to participate in the dunking reenactment. Enjoyed having Carly(black cat) come to visit whenever we had the dutch door top to the garden open. House had exactly what we needed. It was nice to have the 2nd bed as we are both restless sleepers at times. Swizzle Inn was a short bus ride away on the #10 or 11 bus. Loved the Pickled Onion and Lobster Pot for dinners. Both are in downtown Hamilton. Hubby went golfing 4 times during our stay and I went shopping. Safe for females to travel by themselves. Mark was around when we needed him but did not bother us at all. We look forward to returning to Taylor House in the future!! Will miss being there!!!
Surrounded by history in St George
My sister, Celeste, and I were thoroughly charmed by Taylor House and the friendliness of the people of Bermuda. A short hop to the beaches even by bus; the most amazing delis at almost every grocery store; a parade on Bermuda Day in May; tea at the Perfumery across the alley from the house. Get a pizza at the mall across from Shelley Bay and have lunch before you swim. Everything was amazing! A most wonderful and kind host - thanks, Mark. Best idea - 2 bus/ferry passes. We even got used to the tree frogs singing. We will definitely be back.
A privilege to stay at such a historic house
Taylor House was perfect for our spring week in Bermuda. It's well equipped, clean and attractive. The private garden is a bonus. The location is convenient for the beach, the supermarket and walking trails for visitors like us whose scooter days are over. Thought that the provided bus passes was a nice touch and we used them a lot. Mark was away most of the week but made sure that we had contact numbers if we needed anything. We'd certainly want to return to Taylor House for any future trips to Bermuda.
Taylor House is the perfect place to stay in terms of convenience and proximity to amenities. It is located in a quiet residential alleyway in St George's Town within a few minutes walking distance from a grocery store, waterfront restaurants, a bus stop and ferry stop, pharmacy, museums etc. . St George's Town is the historic capital of Bermuda. It has been designated as a UN 'World Heritage Site' because of the unique picturesque original architecture dating from the late 17th century. Three lovely beaches with excellent snorkeling are located within walking distance or just 3 minutes by vehicle.
