Chincoteague is the perfect place to be any time of year.
Our family chose Goose Bay for a spring break getaway from Connecticut. True, it was off season at Chincoteague, but what a treat! It was three adults and four kids! The space was so we cared for and relaxing! We enjoyed being near the bay with the pond out back. The kids spent just hours collecting toads, riding their bikes around the lanes and playing. We went for hikes in the area, bowling, fishing off the pier (wrong time of the year however), and eating in town. A wonderful home in a beautiful place. Our dog absolutely loved wandering around the area. No fenced in area for her but she doesn't need one.
Our only fault with the place was the second double bedroom upstairs had a kind of inflatable mattress on the bed? I am not sure why? My husband and I gave the larger downstairs bedroom to my 75-yo dad... So we were stuck with the weird mattress.
We rented this place over Thanksgiving weekend 2015. The pictures are pretty much true to detail. The place was clean (except a few cobwebs, but it was the off season). The place had plenty of room for our family. We were allowed to bring our old dog for a nominal fee. Kitchen could use a few extra cooking utensils, but overall well stocked. The house off a long driveway for a few houses, so no thru traffic. We really enjoyed our stay and would consider staying again.
We recently rented Goose Bay for one week. The house was lovely, exactly as described, clean and well-maintained. The overall experience was better than I'd imagined. Staying for the week were two couples and a single man; we're all related, so yes, I would recommend this place to relatives! It was great to each have our own bathroom. The views of the bay and the pond were so relaxing. Part of the week was "buggy" so we made good use of the screened porch.
The refrigerator was of ample size, and the kitchen also boasts a microwave, toaster oven, and coffeemaker along with an oven and smooth-top cooktop. There was plenty of glassware, silverware, plates, etc. and cooking vessels and utensils. Pillows were provided, along with blankets and comforters. There were also bath mats in each bath, and kitchen towels and dishcloths were in the kitchen. We brought our own bed linens and towels.
We all awoke early because of the light streaming in the bedrooms, but the overall effect was light and airy. There was plenty of parking for the three vehicles. The TV is by DirecTV satellite dish; one TV has a DVD player connected. The high-speed internet wi-fi worked very well.
I just love Chincoteague, with its proximity to Assateague and the ponies, the ice cream places, Wallops Island NASA facility, and great fresh oysters and crab. Having such a nice place to stay was the icing on the cake!
