Bayview Vacation Home in Homer, Alaska invites you to experience unobstructed panoramic view. It sits atop a hillside overlooking downtown, Beluga Lake, Homer airport, Kachemak Bay, the Spit, Kenai Mountains and beautiful glaciers. The view from our home is very colorful, inspiring and ever-changing. Snow-capped mountains, green forests, glowing yellow meadows during sunset, and a sea of clouds along the blue bay are just some of the stunning views you can see during the day. At night, you can see the street lights sparkling on the Spit and the town. Even during rainy days, you will enjoy enchanting views of reflecting water droplets.
Our home was custom built in 2003 and faces nearly one acre of wild flower gardens. The house has a living area of 3,200 square feet, divided into upper and lower levels. In the upper level, the living room has vaulted high ceilings and huge panoramic windows built into the entire front wall. The windows allow you to soak in the views of the curved Spit, mountains and gleaming glaciers formed across the bay.
The master bedroom has one queen bed and one full bathroom equipped with a Jacuzzi bathtub. You can walk to the deck from the master bedroom or just lie down on the bed to enjoy the beautiful view.
The second bedroom has one queen size bed and one window. There is also one sofa bed for extra visitors and another bathroom near the entrance. Visitors sleeping on the sofa bed will feel like they are being embraced by the mountains in the dimming sunset. The spacious kitchen and dining area has a sliding door which leads to the deck. Additionally, the upper level is equipped with a washer and dryer for your convenience.
For privacy, a separate entrance deck leads to the lower level. There is also an indoor stairway leading to the lower level. The lower level has a living room with big windows overlooking the view and it contains two big bedrooms. One room has one queen-size bed and the other has two full-size beds. Both rooms have large windows to view the Spit and Kenai mountains. The lower level kitchen and dining area was newly built in 2008. The kitchens in each level are well equipped with all the necessary amenities for you to enjoy cooking and dining.
We purchased this lovely home in 2008 for our retirement and furnished it with the finest new furniture for your comfort. We also provided two 42” wide-screen HDTV, high speed internet, and cable/satellite TV for your entertainment. Our home sits on a private street where you can enjoy the serene wilderness, but easily get to town and the Spit within a few minutes drive.

The views were breathtaking, the house was immaculate, and we had a great vacation!
Great place for family gathering. Moose in the driveway!
Our most relaxing get away
The view was spectacular! This is truly a home away from home. The house is very clean and well maintained. It is located close to fun & activities while giving you a private woodsy feel. My family loves the lication. We will visit again.
Our family of 7 (4 adults and 3 children) rented the whole house for our stay in Homer and found it to be as described, though if possible, the view is understated. It has to be seen to be truly appreciated! The home is immaculate and superbly equipped with everything a vacationing family might need. We hope to return!
As usual VRBO has done it again! What a Beautiful place the house was magnificent the views to die for!!! We definitely would come back again
Great review but very basic house with no yard....
No question that this house has amazing views that are just breathtaking. The house is located at the top of a hill (near Sky Line Drive). You can see the airport planes flying in and out of town, which is a bonus. It is close to town if you are an eagle, but driving takes some time because you have to wind up and down a small mountain road, which is very steep. It is not within walking distance of town. It is a matter of personal taste, but I did not like the "simple" furnishings in the house. The place was in desperate need of an interior decorator to make it feel more homey. You are basically renting a shell of house with a roof and some uncomfortable beds. No one lives there, and it just had that feel that a house has when no one is there to constantly make the home look and feel like a home. I did not like the layout either. Two bedrooms located upstairs are right next to each other, with very thin walls. Sound insulation was a problem, too. You can hear what everyone is doing in every room at all times. It is a really loud house. The walls and carpet are all white, with plenty of stains as you would expect to find with white walls and carpet. The two bedrooms downstairs are spread out enough for some privacy, but not much. Overall the house did not feel like a 4 bedroom. There is no fire place, which is odd considering the Alaska location. The furniture is very cheap, and there isn't much decor to spruce up the house. It is just plain vanilla. We ran out of simple things when we were there. Pepper, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. We stayed at another home while in Homer that was half the price and just much better. The other house just had more to offer, for less the price. Because of this, I would not stay at this location again. You can probably find better, particularly considering the price.
Oh! Boy! What a surprise that you thought this almost million-dollar house is cheap. We feel that you might be insulting not only our builder, the renowned Beachy Construction who built a lot of high-end houses in Homer area, the Lazy Boy Furniture store where we paid over $20,000 for the fine furniture and the comfortable beds, but also our guests who gave us excellent reviews. For the interior decoration, we don't like to put on some cheap artifacts in our living room if this was what you meant. By doing so, it is not only distracting but potentially can also be damaged by ruthless guests or cause some hazards for small children. Instead, we'd like to highlight Kachemak Bay, Kenai range with over 180 degree views. The view dominates and that is all we care. Regarding the fire place, it makes the house dirty and it is not energy efficient. Our house is newer and is 5-star heat conserved. It isolates well and it breezes. All the heat comes from the hot water underneath the carpet, which has been proved as the most efficient. For the color of carpet and the wall, you would appreciate they are bright and feel warm during the winter. It's interesting to see you used the magnifying glasses to inspect our house. We didn't see as many stains as you did. We shampoo our carpet about once every other year. Regarding the walking distance to town, it is never practical in Homer. All the interest points are too far from each other and you just cannot go everywhere by walk. As for your complaint of not feeling like a 4 bedroom house, we are shocked that you have this odd feeling. Our house has 3200 square feet living space. It is hard to believe it is not big enough for 5 people in your group. For the simple things you ran out, we provide supplies that last about 5 days. Like most vacation home rental’s practice, you have to get more by yourselves if you run out of them. We don't do the daily maid service without request. Overall, we appreciate our guests to inform us if there is something we can improve but we prefer to be more specific, not based on personal taste which people should have made the judgement before booking. Just as the old grandma said "If you can't enjoy the nature's beauty, you'd better stay home".
Note: The main road (East Hill Rd) to our house is two-lane and well paved. Although it is a little winding in some areas, definitely it is safe to drive. The drive to town and the Spit from our house takes less than 5 minutes.
