About the property

3BR Oceanside Vacation Rental Kaaawa, Hawaii USA

With the beach at your back door and a breathtaking view across Kaneohe Bay and the cliffs of Kualoa forming the back drop, the setting of this family beach house is perfect for a fun filled Hawaiian vacation. The house has a full kitchen and laundry, a breakfast nook and dining room, a large open living room, and a beachside covered porch, as well as three pleasant bedrooms and one bath. Coconut, plumeria, and sea grape trees frame the house, which is lulled by the sound of the waves and the swishing of palm fronds. The quiet beach is ideal for playing, sunning, and snorkeling. The calm surf is perfect for children. Water in front of the house is normally three to four feet deep at high tide. Perfect for kayaking. A short walk or drive will bring you to historic Kualoa Ranch where movie set tours (such as Mighty Joe Young, Wind Talker, Jurassic Park 1, 50 First Dates, Along came Polly and more), hiking, horseback riding, tennis, and other activities are available.

This peaceful location is only 40 minutes from Honolulu and from the famous North Shore beaches. It's 20 minutes from several golf courses including Koolau -- the toughest in the United States. Shopping, movies, and restaurants are within eight miles.

Simply amazing

  • 5 of 5

Words can't express what a delight our stay at the Mill House has been . We needed something off the beaten path for my son , who has special needs ; my husband who hates chaos , and because I hate staying in a small hotel with 3 kiddos . This house is perfectly laid out , decorated with such a fun , honey beach theme , and has everything you could possibly need . Plus the ocean is right outside your door ! The kids delighted in seeing all the birds and chickens roaming , the crabs on the shore and the fish in the sea . We saved a lot of $$ by cooking most meals in the very well stocked kitchen . (Tip - fill a suitcase with as many snacks as you can beforehand , as groceries are expensive here! I even brought things like taco seasoning and sloppy joe seasoning with us ). Lots of beach gear such as towels , snorkeling stuff , chairs , and beach toys for us to use . Deb the caretaker is also super sweet . We will definitely be coming back here!

Not new but very cozy

  • 4 of 5

Overall we all liked this Mill House, while it is not the newest it was very cozy. Lots of room with an awesome view, very nice covered lanai. The road noise was terrible during rush hour traffic but a couple of fans in the two closet bedrooms solved that issue. The whole island has traffic.

We will stay here again since 5 out of the 6 enjoyed it. Tom was very good to work with also. Place was very clean !

Private paradise

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the Mill House. The home is modest, but clean and with every amenity you need. Lots of kitchen cookware, appliances and even simple spices. You won't be in the house much, because the large lanai with the postcard-worthy view is where we spent most of our time. Waking up to those sunrises while sipping a cup of coffee was magic. We loved paddling out in the kayaks each morning, then grilling dinner by the beach in the evening. The beach was deserted and we felt like we had our own private slice of paradise. As soon as we returned to the cold, icy northwest, we started planning our return trip! Thanks Tom and Deb, for making our trip so comfortable, relaxed and enjoyable - and thank you Tom for sharing your home with us!

It really is Right On The Beach

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I stayed here 5 nights in mid-November together with our son and his wife. A very spacious place with basic yet fully sufficient utensils, cookware, etc. Deborah the caretaker is right next door and was most helpful, friendly and responsive.

The beach is just steps away from the open-air yet covered deck area. There's a basket of water gear handy with much-needed water shoes in most sizes. The beach is shallow for quite a ways out, but just right for diving for footballs, etc., and the water was great temp-wise.

The house is a half-hour or so from downtown Honolulu and Pearl Harbor (assuming average traffic) and a day trip up to the North Shore was worthwhile. Stock up at the big grocery store 15 minutes south towards Honolulu. The place was nice and clean upon arrival.

For east coast NFL types, here is the perfect Sunday location. A full card of games on the big flat screen starting at 8 am until dinner with between-game and halftime ocean dips, or run out to the various food trucks serving fried shrimp.

Worked out very nicely for us, and would be most suitable for a young family with kids.

Excellent location and very clean house

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at The Mill House. It had everything we needed for a quiet beach get-a-way but it was close enough to the grocery store that we could stop on our way back to the house. The BBQ was a nice touch and we used it more than once. The kayaks were also great. We kayaked to Chinaman's Hat. The two main bedrooms were spacious and clean. The third bedroom is ok for one or two kids. Deborah was very helpful and the fact that the house was stocked with everything but food, was great. Having laundry on site also proved to be invaluable as we went through a lot of laundry over the course of a week. I would stay here again. Thank for the great time!
