Why Cara Peloso chose Delaware River Valley

Having lived in the city for 20 years, we had always wanted to have a country house and the Hamptons were not our style. About five years ago we were introduced to this area by a friend who has the brick farm house down the road. When this house went on the market we knew we wanted something on the water and road up and down the river to see if there was another property we liked better than this. We closed a month later.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I spent a week with 3 friends here. The cabin was spotless and equipped with everything you need to enjoy yourself. There are personal touches throughout the home and the property that give it charm and character. It is obvious that this home is well cared for by its owners. Once you step outside, you can feel the stress leave your shoulders while staring at the river. It really is a special place, ideal for someone who wants to get away without getting lost. The owners are attentive and considerate.

Gorgeous Spot By The River

  • 5 of 5

This house is a gem. We stayed here over New Years Eve and it was perfect in every way. The living room is big and comfortably arranged around the gorgeous fireplace. The kitchen is also spacious and stocked with everything we needed to cook a New Year's feast. Upstairs bedroom is comfortable and airy with its own bathroom. The downstairs bedrooms have been designed with some very cool decoration. Main floor bathroom has the giant jacuzzi tub. The jets were under repair during our stay but the tub with picture window facing the river was still luxurious.

Down by the river, they've tricked everything out with gorgeous string lights and a stereo system. We rang in the New Year down there and had a great time. Hope to go back and experience their riverside in the summer months.

Comfortable Cabin with Amenities and Nature

  • 5 of 5

The description of the cabin was very accurate. In fact, we were impressed with all the extra touches that made the cabin feel like our own second home. It had everything we needed from tv, comfortable beds, seating areas with beautiful views, stocked kitchen and gorgeous location on the river. We especially loved the layout and made use of the fireplace in the large open den. We love that there are so many trees on the property and close proximity to the little town of Narrowsburg. We found the cabin very clean and the owners were very helpful. We certainly would recommend this place to friends and family. Actually, we hope to return in the summer. There is so much to check out in Narrowsburg and found the location an excellent jumping off point to explore other areas in the Catskills.

peace and quiet

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a week at the cabin. It was so peaceful and tranquil. We are a family of 5 with one baby and a dog. There was plenty of room for everyone. The cabin was so pretty inside. Each morning I would have my cup of coffee in the english garden and read. Each evening I would have my glass of wine down by the river. The Heron and Geralds restaurants were very good and a shout out to the Whistle Stop Cafe with its good food and inexpensive prices and a wonderful women who runs it. This is a great place for some rest and relaxation. Thank you Cara and Danny.

A perfect family friendly get-away!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time relaxing on the Delaware at this beautiful home! It was so we stocked with everything you need to enjoy your time on the river. By day we enjoyed the canoes and sitting in the tree house relaxing and watching the river; at night we had a lovely fire and watch movies and enjoyed good. It was so quiet and peaceful, what a perfect location!

Thanks Cara for sharing your home.

Exactly What we Were Looking For

  • 5 of 5

We rented Cara's cabin for a long weekend over Memorial Day this past year and it was exactly what we were looking for. A relatively short 2.5 hour drive from our home in Brooklyn, the cabin is beautiful and well equipped for indoor cooking, grilling out, enjoying the backyard bocce court, or relaxing by the river. Cara was very responsive during the entire process as well.

As others have said, the owners have put a lot into this place and you can really tell. Their style and decor is excellent and makes the home very liveable and relaxing. Outdoor lights and stereo speakers are an extra plus. We would definitely return.

Downtown Narrowsburg is only about a mile a way in case you dont want to cook every meal at the cabin and the Heron is a very nice place for dinner or brunch. And its a short drive to a state park for hiking if the weather cooperates.

Piece of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Cara and Danny's home in Narrowsburg is the ideal retreat for city-weary travelers. I rented the house for five days in May for a get-away for me, my German Shepherd, Elsa, and a friend who was celebrating a significant birthday. I'm heading back to the house for another week in October.

These owners have paid attention to every detail and obviously have refined taste. Every comfort has been considered: the outdoors is wired for music and light and propane-fueled mosquito zappers are running. There's abundant seating from the garden down to the river, there's a tree-house for the kids, a bocce ball court for adults and the most amazing hammock strung between two of the many towering trees on the property. I appreciated the composter.

The wood construction gives the cabin a rustic feel, but the modern furniture and art give it a sleeker look. The house is very roomy and the best one on the street, remote and private, yet you have the benefit of first-class amenities like super great showers and baths, a fully equipped kitchen (a must for someone like me who likes to cook) a gorgeous fireplace and plenty of wood for chilly nights. Another big plus: The house is spotless.

But the property, the land, the garden--that's what really makes this place over-the-top special. Elsa was in dog heaven. I lost hours sitting on the porch reading. The river is at your disposal and so wild and beautiful. We saw eagles!

Narrowsburg is also a charming town if you can drag yourself away from the house. The people are exceptionally friendly, the few restaurants are all outstanding and there are some chic shops to boot. Really.

I've rented a handful of homes in this area and nothing comes close to this place. It's an honor to be invited to stay in a home that has obviously been invested with such love.
