Additionally, this vacation villa is also outfitted with a full-size washer and dryer and wireless high-speed internet access.
About Our On-the-Beach Location
Of course, the beach will surely lure you from your home-away-from-home – as it should! After all, a vacation to Kiawah Island isn’t complete without a stroll in the sand, an afternoon lounging in the sand or time spent splashing in the rolling waves. To reach the beach, simply take the elevator to the ground floor and walk right out from the breezeway onto the boardwalk.
Don’t forget to check out the other attractions and amenities nearby, including ample shopping, 5 world-class golf courses, local restaurants and tennis courts. Thirty miles of bike trails meander throughout the island as well, so renting a bicycle is a must.
And, if you’re up for a day trip, consider making the drive to historic downtown Charleston, which is only a 35 minute drive away.
If you love The Treetops at Shipwatch’s location, you might also be interested in the 2-bedroom Sandpiper or 1-bedroom Vista, both located in this same building.
About Property Managers, Shawn and Jeanette Lawson (Kiawah Island Getaways):
Shawn's family discovered Kiawah in 1978 and returned year after year for two-week vacations. In 1985 we drove our VW Bug convertible to Kiawah and Shawn introduced me to Kiawah. I remember stepping over the dune boardwalk out in front of the Kiawah Island Inn and seeing Kiawah's wide, sandy beach for the first time - it was so brilliant it practically danced before my eyes. It was during this vacation that the two of us decided to set our sights on moving to this beautiful and fascinating place permanently.
In 1988 our dreams came true and our U-Haul rattled across the Kiawah Island bridge (at that time it was nothing more than a wood-planked bridge). For the next four years we rented a 1-bedroom villa, 4251 Mariner's Watch. Shawn was so thrilled to be living on the island that he applied for the personalized South Carolina license plate 'KIAWAH' (which we still have today).
In 1992, we built our first home on the island at 134 Conifer Lane. During construction, I gave birth to our first son Benjamin - he arrived 2 months early in an ambulance outside of the Kiawah Island Fire Station.
In 2001, we purchased our first villa, a 1-bedroom, beachside Seascape and Kiawah Island Getaways was born. Once we got our feet wet with the villa rental business, it was a like a fever for us. We both really enjoyed furnishing, decorating and maintaining the villas - not to mention the new found fun of meeting and talking to all sorts of people about Kiawah. Because we really enjoy what we do, other Kiawah property owners noticed and we started managing their properties as well.
Our whole family loves Kiawah and running Kiawah Island Getaways is a true family-run business. We personally prepare each villa prior to your arrival - because we want your stay to be perfect. We want you to fall in love with Kiawah too...and we know you will.
From vibrant wall décor to bold splashes of color, the Treetops at Shipwatch combines luxury with charm at every turn.
Although we saw pictures on the internet, we were still taken aback by the villa. We so appreciate the care you took to detail, especially in the kitchen. It was stocked so well; and the appliances and tools of the trade were top of the line. The villa was spotless, liveable, comfortable and smelled great!! The beds were the most comfortable we've EVER slept in.
Perfect condo for a small family. Comfy beds and beautifully decorated. Easy walk to the beach and nice views of the water from one of the balconies. Recommend bringing a collapsible cart or stroller to load all your Luggage and groceries to and from the car.
We had a wonderful time at the apartment! It was clean and organized. Everything you could need for a perfect vacation was include - beach towels, games, books, chairs, etc! They even included a book full of suggestions for dining out, activities, and day trips. The location was such a short walk to the beach and we were able to ride our bikes everywhere! It is very close to fresh fields and about 30 mins from Charleston! The beds were so comfy and check in/check out was a breeze. We loved everything about this apartment, especially the porch area, and will definitely be coming again!
Although our first time to Kiawah, my wife and I have travelled extensively. In our experience, this was as good a rental experience and as nice a property as you will find. Although it would probably be tight for 6, we had our 2 teenage sons, and found the place nearly perfect for four.
It was appointed in a high quality and tasteful manner rarely found in rentals. The unit and the complex is quiet and relaxing. The unit is on the end of the complex, and the view of the beach is narrow, (between the adjacent unit wall, and the treetops) but charming, and enough to enjoy while relaxing on the terrace, and to allow "surf report".
Plenty of towels, linens, etc, all comfortable, nice quality, and clean. Kitchen is very thoroughly equipped, but small and limited in dry food storage - not a problem if you're planning on dining out a lot.
Building lacks ground level storage for beach gear - chairs, umbrella, etc. but we simply carried the up and down and stored them on the balcony. I wouldn't rent them - the rentals are always set up at the dune, which at lower tide is very far from the surf. Bikes will also be exposed - kind of a drag, but common.
Shawn and Jeanette, who we met in person as we were leaving, really care about the properties and the guest experience. You won't be disappointed.
This was our third time visiting Kiawah. When we were looking for a place to stay few years ago we found Kiawah Island Getaways, and we were happy to rent the property through Shawn and Jeanette. They are wonderful. They thought of every single detail. The property is tastefully decorated. The kitchen is fully equipped, beds are comfortable and linens/towels are great quality. The property also has a washer and dryer which was great when traveling with kids. We are planning on visiting Kiawah next year. It became our family's favorite place.
My wife researched a great deal to find this property. We were not at all disappointed! Let me first brag on Shawn and Jeannette Lawson who are the property managers. They were responsive to all of our communications and when we arrived we were instantly greeted with very nice touches that made us feel at home. The villa is very clean with great amenities. Fully functional kitchen, great bathrooms and extremely comfortable beds. The entire complex is very quiet and upscale. The beach access has a nice boardwalk and the beach itself was never crowded during our week. Some other things you should know: I personally wouldn't classify this property as Oceanfront. You only see a sliver of the ocean from the main balcony because of tree obstruction and the rest of the buildings. If you are looking for a vista of the ocean, it won't be this property. The 55-inch TV is nice, but I'd like to make a plea to the owners to upgrade to an HD cable service! You are provided a door code on the property for check-in so there is no need to stop by a rental office - that made it so easy!! Lastly, we are generous tippers when it comes to anyone who provides service to us. I never felt compelled to tip the young workers who provided the umbrella and beach chair service. The guys were not overly friendly and most mornings our chairs had quite a bit of sand in them and had been setup where dead seagrass had settled from the tides. I felt like they could've made a better effort to clean the area and chairs. Despite those few minor things I stand by my 5-star rating of this property and the vacation we had.
I did lots of research to find the perfect condo for our first trip to Kiawah. I found it. The owners keep
It very clean and very well supplied. My husband and I were there for almost 4 weeks so I did lots of meal preparation and everything that I needed was there. Linens were all top quality and the furniture was comfortable. Top floor also makes it quiet. The pictures and descriptions were accurate. We would love to return and highly recommend this condo.
