This peaceful location on a quiet lane just outside of Rockport's downtown offers an easy place from which to enjoy the best that this world-renowned sea-side art colony has to offer. Beaches, shops, art galleries, restaurants, and Rockport Harbor are all just a five-minute walk from your door.
A five minute walk takes you directly into the heart of Rockport's downtown, full of art galleries, quaint shops, restaurants, and home of the Rockport Chamber Music Festival and Rockport Art Association. Boat tours leave regularly from two wharves, and you can rent sea kayaks, go deep sea-fishing, or climb the rocks at the end of Bearskin Neck and watch the sun set over the harbor and the famous Motif #1 fishing shack.
The same short walk brings you to Front Beach, with its fine swimming and scenic views of Rockport's coastline for adults, and gradual slope and tidepools that delight children. Along the way you will pass the lane leading to Millbrook Meadow, an oasis-like park with a pond, waterfall, babbling brook, and large lawn with swings and slide.
We still enjoy using our summer house on and off throughout the year, and are happy to make it available to other families when we're not there. Our children were lucky to grow up spending their summers at Front Beach and enjoying the ice cream and candy shops throughout downtown Rockport. The jar of beach glass on our family room mantle contains layers of memories collected each summer during their childhood!
P. Squires purchased this house in 2001
When we found this house, we almost couldn't believe our luck at the location. While just a simple 5 minute stroll into town and to Front Beach, it is situated on a quiet private lane with virtually no traffic. It has a good sized yard, and some conservation land directly behind it. We have convenience to everything downtown Rockport offers, yet quiet and privacy with a safe place for our children to play.
As mentioned above, we are very centrally located, yet we have space and privacy to relax and for our children to be outdoors.
We had the most wonderful stay at this home and didn't want to leave the last day. Priscilla was a wonderful host and made everything so easy. We traveled with a 2 year old and are expecting so having this wonderful family oriented home very close to the beach and the center of town was amazing. We can't wait to come back!!
Our group of four were in town for a family get together, and this hhouse was the perfect stay. Everything you would need...comfortable, and a very home like feel. We look forward to another stay, perhaps in the spring sometime!
Great home for our weekend get away! Perfect size for a family of 5.
It is just far enough out of the downtown to be quiet. But close enough to easily walk into the beach or the wonderful quaint village center
Great place to stay in Rockport. Nice quiet neighborhood. Friendly neighbors. We definitely recommend this home. Very glad we got to meet the owners. Wonderful and helpful folks. Once you are stocked up on groceries, everything is within walking distance. Six of us stayed there, and the single bathroom was not an issue. Also nice to have everything on one level. Washer and dryer in the basement, but we did not need to use them. Thank you Priscilla!
P.S. You should update the photo of the house as the new paint job is great.
We loved staying here. It is roomy with a huge kitchen, beautiful back yards & plenty of parking. A 10-minute walk to downtown & Bearskin Neck or the T. Definitely would love to return next year!!
A short drive takes you to Halibut Point state park for ocean-view hiking, or to the neighboring seaport city of Gloucester. The train to Boston is only a five minute walk away.
