We've rented many times on the Cape, and Seashell cottage is our all time favorite. It's in a great location -- easy access to 6A and short walk to private beach. The cottage had everything we needed, and a lovely deck for cookouts. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly. Definitely will rent this cottage again.
Our first day at Seashell Cottage it poured with rain which was just what we needed - we were exhausted after three days in NY with jet lag and needed a day to unwind. We whiled away the time very enjoyably with the books, games and DVDs in the cottage and recouped our energies so we could make the most of the rest of the week.
The cottage is cared-for and charming, with pretty much everything on hand that you could need. We saw woodpeckers, rabbits and chipmunks in the garden and ate breakfast on the deck. Its location is unbeatable; the walk to the beach is only five minutes and we spent a lot of time down there - twice we took our dinner down (picked up salads and lobster roll from the nearby deli just across the road on Route 6A) and watched the sun set whilst the kids paddled in the shallow waters. The house has beach chairs and a trolley so it couldn't be more convenient. Nickersen State Park is only five minutes drive away and the older ones swam on the lake there whilst we took our younger non-swimmer out in a paddle boat. The Brewster General Store ten mins away is fun to visit for ice cream and eclectic souvenirs. Provincetown is almost an hour's drive away but it's an easy journey (we chose our times well and didn't hit too much traffic) and really worth a visit (we went twice) especially with our older kids who loved the shops and people watching. It's also the place to go whale-watching - we must have seen 50 whales 'breeching' when we went out, though we were particularly lucky. We went out on the last boat of the day - for us it was perfect because the cruise is probably a bit shorter (our youngest was a little seasick and exhausted by the end), but we saw loads of whales and also got the sunset on the way back.
Seashell Cottage is lovely in itself and the location makes it unbeatable. Our children range from age 13-7 so they have differing interests but there was plenty during our week to entertain everyone. It was our first time on the Cape and we travelled around quite a lot so we saw quite a bit of the area - but if we go back we'll stay at Seashell Cottage again. I don't think we could have chosen better. Laara (the owner) is extremely helpful and sent us a load of useful tips and information before the holiday started and it was very easy to make the most of our holiday there. I really hope we'll make it back one day
We had such a wonderful week at Seashell Cottage! From the moment we walked into the cottage it felt bright, airy, clean and comfortable. It has everything you could need and more! Our 4 children (10months - 7 years) enjoyed the puzzles, games and toys during their quiet times and my husband and I enjoyed the great selection of books too! Laara has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The house is stocked with a beach cart, beach chairs, beach toys and even a cooler, flashlights and unbrellas! We had all our breakfasts and lunches and a few of our dinners in the cottage and the kitchen had all the tools and utensils that we needed. It is a short walk to both a private and public beach and also a short walk to a convenience store, Bayside Seafood and Market, Brewster Bookstore and JT's restaurant! The cottage is on a quiet, sandy lane and has a wonderful back deck. We LOVED the private out door shower too! This cottage is a gem!
My husband, two young children and I really enjoyed our stay in this lovely little cottage near the bay. The cottage had everything we needed and was clean and totally charming. The owners truly have thought of everything! The back yard was very private and bigger than we expected, and it is just a short walk to the bay. The water on the bay side of the cape is so clean, and it is teaming with sea life. The bike path was a highlight of our stay as was the marionette show in town. We really enjoyed our stay at this wonderful cottage in Brewster and can't wait to return!
My family of 6 absolutely loved this cottage. We've stayed at others in Brewster and this is definately our favorite. This is the first time that a place was BETTER than I expected. The back porch/yard area was perfect for my 3 boys to bring their lunches, inspect their treasures from the beach, and to throw the football around. Also, we couldn't have done without the outdoor shower and (gas) grill. Having the internet connection was fantastic ,(since we were able to keep connected to our business at home), and having the washer /dryer sure beats running to a laundrymat! Everything was very clean and decorated nicely. My boys enjoyed being able to walk up to the small nearby grocery store for snacks, subs, etc., and I enjoyed shopping at the nearby local shops just a few miles down the road. A fun place to visit is the Brewster General store, and we also enjoyed Kate's Seafood & Breswter pizza ( which is where we celebrated my 12 yr.olds birthday). Laara has been wonderful to work with, and we are looking forward to visiting again.
We have just had a wonderful week in this cottage in Brewster. On arrival we were struck by the light and airy feel of it, and lovely presentation. There was plenty of space for the 5 of us, and even though we had good weather, we would have been fine with rainy days as there was such a great range of books/games which the children loved. The kitchen facilities were very comprehensive and we cooked a number of meals, utilising the grill outside as well. Although there is no airconditioning, on the couple of nights which were hot, we used the window fan units which were very effective and enabled everyone to get of to sleep without a problem. The lane really is quiet and the walk to the beach very easy with a 5,7 and 9 year old, if we forgot something or wanted to go and get lunch, one didn't think twice about strolling up the lane to get it. We took advantage of the cottages proximity to the rail trail on a number of occasions and swam at Nickerson state park when wanting a breather from the salt water.
The location in Brewster also means its an easy drive up to the beaches on the National Seashore if one is in search of bigger waves
All in all a great spot, we wouldn't hesitate to come back again or recommend to friends. The owners were very helpful and easy to deal with and gave us a very useful packing list of things to remember to bring.
