Overview

About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Located in the heart of Historic Chester County, few locations in the United States offer so many things to see and do. Some of the loveliest creations of man or nature are nearby ( 1hr.). The cottage is on a 70 acre country estate (circa. 1797) with fields & trails, surrounded by over 2000 acres of private land. Yet, there is gourmet dining, tennis and historic sites within walking or bicycle distance. In the late 1990s, Chester County was listed as one of the top ten counties in which to live, owing to its beauty, historic significance and the general sophistication of its inhabitants. Horse-carriages and hot air balloons are just a few of the common sights. The Cottage is located on a private lane, just off a quiet, picturesque country road that is a favorite of bicyclists, joggers and equestrians. The farm, its history and surroundings were the subject of Edwin A. Peeples’ Walden-like memoir PLANTING AN INHERITANCE; LIFE ON A PENNSYLVANIA FARM (see amazon dot com)

Guestbook comments from the owner

Maintaining a 65 acre farm includes all kinds of equipment and is inescapable. City people would never understand this just as the scream of sirens in the city is something beyond my threshold of acceptance. The jackhammering could have been avoided had the guests ever left the cottage for a one day outing. There's lots to see. Allowing dogs is a luxury few owners allow, and had I known that the animal was mentally deranged, I'd have turned down the reservation. There's all kinds of flavors out their and this couple is the wrong flavor for this farm.

Cozy and private

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay at the gentleman's cottage. Chris was very friendly and welcoming but gave us our privacy as well. We greatly appreciated being invited to their Fourth of July celebration that they held on the property. And Bella the dog was such a delight - greeting us each time we came and went from the property and watching her chase frogs in the creek.

The screened porch was awesome to relax and enjoy nature and we actually got to see a Bald Eagle!

Fully Loaded Tiny House

  • 5 of 5

The location is convenient to many major PA roads, but yet on a quiet, relaxed property. The owner had redesigned a 1797 building with all the essentials for 21st century living. It is more essential to have internet, cable, washer, dryer, microwave, full size refrigerator, & stove then to have a dishwasher. The screened porch increased the living space, & is usable day or night. The air conditioning & in-ground pool helped get us through the summer heat wave. We would rent this cottage again.

Probably better in fall & winter as opposed to summer

  • 3 of 5

Advertised as air conditioned but window air conditioning upstairs in bedroom but downstairs was slightly uncomfortable during the day; also, ladders on the roof and against home - no mention that painting of home was in progress. Big garbage bin advertised as being emptied on Thursday's- was overflowing - had to put garbage in cardboard box on the ground near the bin. Served our purpose as temp place as we were parking our home nearby .. would not vacation

THE PERFECT PLACE TO RELAX

  • 5 of 5

Our second holiday at the cottage was just as memorable as the first with the bird song in the morning and evening accompanied by the frogs. To see all the wildlife is another relaxation. This year we stayed again for three weeks and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Thanks to Chris and Charles for their attention to everything as and when required.

Beautiful property, had a wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

I will definitely be coming back to the cottage! What a beautiful property with so much open space and fields for days. Chris and his brother Charles were so accommodating and had great suggestions and information about the area and the property. This is a very special place and I would recommend it to anyone. If you want peace and quiet, and nature, this is the place to go.
