About Ken Miller

Jean and I with some of our toys.

Ken Miller purchased this house in 2006

Why Ken Miller chose Coastal Oregon

We wanted to be right 'on' the beach.

What makes this house unique

Fantastic views, sunsets, and watching the wildlife, especially the seals sunning themselves on the rocks, just off our beach.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We brought our 1-1/2 year old sun for his first real trip to the beach and loved having your cozy cottage as a home base. We enjoyed the Ocean World Aquarium, the beach, the lighthouses and Vista pub in Brooking. We also found some agates and thoroughly enjoyed the vista from the hot tub during both the full moon and a gorgeous sunny day. Thanks for all the extras (like the swimsuits) and the relaxed nature of our entire transaction. Hope to see you again soon.

Everything was wonderful; the hospitality of the Millers is w/out equal; a very relaxing place!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a relaxing get away for our family, and we found it here. The view from the cottage was beautiful. The king sized bed was comfortable, and it was obvious that the hosts had thought carefully about what their guests would need. We had a great time and will definitely go back!

Would book again

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I had a mini get away, we really enjoyed our stay very much and the hosts are great. It was very relaxing and quiet (except for the ocean). The beach is a great place to explore when the tide is out. We would definitely book this pace again.

Real close to the CA border and redwoods

  • 4 of 5

This one bedroom has every thing you might need during your stay and the host is most helpful. The decor is steel blue and chocolate brown throughout- a bit dated, and dark. But the bed was super comfy, the linens are nice, the place is clean and the kitchen and bathroom well stocked. The little patio and hot tub is secluded due to some big rhodies, and other plantings. The tide pools are not not far down their pebble beach. The neighborhood is a mix of large beach homes on the ocean side of the street and agricultural land on the other. It felt very safe and was very quiet. Its about a 5 minute drive to the harbor and downtown is not much further.

Just excellent

  • 5 of 5

Our three dogs and we escaped sizzling Arizona weather to cool, pleasant Oregon. We loved Ken and Jean's hospitality and the area and have already booked for the next two summers. Contrary to the Kentucky woman's review, we found the cottage clean and neat. (It's a beach cottage, not a penthouse suite). Except for food, all paper products, soaps, pans, dishes, etc. were furnished. Actually, there were quite a few condiments, spices and cooking oil on hand. Having the washing machine and dryer available was a definite plus, especially with three dogs. We enjoyed the beach, hot tub, t.v.,and numerous dvds. The dog park just down the road was great, as was the harbor where we could get fresh produce and seafood. The weather was PERFECT and it was hard to return to over 110 degree Arizona weather.

Just OK

  • 2 of 5

I really wish we could give this VRBO 5 stars. The owner is very kind and helpful, and the location is great. But frankly this place is very dirty. Not filthy dirty, but just "needs a good cleaning" dirty. Dust on all surfaces, crumbs in all of the drawers, hairs on the sheets, and I really wish I hadn't opened the refrigerator. I'm really not sure what happened between the last reviewer's stay and ours, but "clean" is definitely not a word you can use for this place no matter how low your standards are. Hopefully the owner will take note and hire a professional cleaning company. If it had been clean this review would have been very different

Clean, comfortable and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This one bedroom cottage on the coast was the perfect place to stay while in town to visit family. It was clean and comfortable, and well equipped. A short walk to the beach, and a short drive to town. Ken and Jean were super easy to connect with, and we felt that we had the privacy we wanted. We will definitely book here again for our next trip to Brookings!
