About Ryan Albrecht-Wood

We moved to Oahu on a whim almost ten years ago, and now have built our life here with a growing family to boot! The North Shore is magical, as many have found, and this is our way of sharing it. We live and breathe this gorgeous place, and are always happy to give suggestions on our favorite spots to make your stay even more special. For many visitors, Hawaii is a once in a lifetime vacation, and this is a constant reminder just how lucky we are to live here!

Adorable cottage in Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about staying here. The location is perfect- it's quiet and just minutes from Haleiwa.

The cottage is bright and airy, and super clean. The beds are very comfortable! I should add that while it's true, there isn't air conditioning, opening the windows and using the ceiling and stand fans were more than enough. It is not hotel. It's a bungalow in paradise, and we loved every moment of our stay here.

North Shore Get Away

  • 5 of 5

When the time comes to escape the hustle and hassles associated with the tourist crush in Waikiki, head to the North Shore and the Plumeria Cottage. The laid back environment of nearby Haleiwa is the perfect setting for this cottage. Located about 100 yards from what was nearly a secluded beach, this well-maintained and well-stocked home was just what we needed.

It was perfect for us!

  • 5 of 5

1st - This cottage is way more adorable in person! I stayed with my 3 daughters and we were very comfortable as it was nicely decorated and had all the comforts of home.

- The beds in both rooms were very comfortable.

- The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. There isn't a kitchen table so we ate on the porch. And the porch was my favorite part of the house.

- Flat screen TV with lots of DVD's about the North Shore, books, and Wifi!

- There was more than just 2 bikes and we rode the bikes into Waimea. They were a little rusty but who cares! They worked perfect :)

- Plenty of linen and towels for the beach.

- We had a bit of a plumbing problem one day and someone came instantly to fix it.

- Quiet neighborhood. And I loved staying on the North Shore.

- Beach is just across the street.

I hope to be able to come back someday!

cozy and convenient cottage

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay at the Plumeria Cottage. The beach was very close as described. The fenced yard was helpful with our almost 2 year old. One ceiling fan wasn't working, but the portable fans sufficed. Even though it got very warm by the afternoon, it cooled off nicely at night. We were out on the little porch a lot; the friendly cat was a bonus.

Not terribly impressed...

  • 3 of 5

Arrived to a very hot cottage with fan blowing into bathroom. Not impressed overall with this rental. Looked like it was furnished from the local second hand store. fans everywhere, NO AIR CONDITIONING. Heres an idea: Put in an air conditioner and charge an extra 10 or 20$ if people want to use it (can lock the power plug). We would have paid extra for it. 10 fans running all the time are useless and probably use MORE electricity than running a small AC unit full time.

Wifi was OK.

Everything was sticky not clean, drawers for clothes and silverware smelled strongly of bug spray: YUCK. Cancer risk. Oh well! Info book had a big sign "Please tip your housekeepers". What?! They cant pay the house keepers enough out of the XXX.00$ for cleaning fees per stay (Im not allowed to say how much $$$ but it sure should cover housekeeping and generously paying them)?

Tiny spot on the front deck you can actually see the ocean over somebody's yard. Only a couple minute walk to the ocean. They wanted $X,000 deposit (again, homeaway wont allow us to say how much we paid deposit but it was in the thousands of $). We are 55+ quiet couple, not going to trash the place.

I guess for the price compared to the other rentals in the area it was ok.

The property is lovely! It was really nice to be able to see the ocean from the porch.

The little house was perfect for my husband, me and our baby. It was a great place to relax and we loved making the one minute walk to the beach every day. The location is really good: quiet neighborhood by the beach and a quick drive to lots of cute shops and restaurants. We would definitely come back!
