Tahoe Pines House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This knotty pine lodge is located in Tahoe Pines on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. It is nestled in a quiet forested neighborhood. Homewood Ski Area is only one mile away and Tahoe City is 4 miles in the opposite direction. The large beautiful natural landscaped yard and spacious decks provide the perfect summer setting for family gatherings. The quiet neighborhood provides a haven from the hustle and bustle of the real world and is a safe place for children to play and ride bikes. The flat road and driveway with snow removal make for easy winter access.

Tahoe Pines Beach and private Homeowners Pier is a short walk from our home. Our personal buoy is available during the summer for an additional fee. Call to discuss details.

Upon entering any of the 3 doors off of the front deck, you will have a feeling of stepping back into mountain homes of long ago and yet have the modern comforts. The living room has a wood fireplace, TV, VCR, DVD and a cozy seating arrangement for watching the glow of the fire or a movie. The large knotty pine dining room is open and spacious with sky lights and a wood stove (should you need it). A recreation room separates the living room and dining area for playing a game or desk work. (Wireless High speed internet) The modern galley kitchen is open and faces the dining area, recreation area and living room. The cook will never feel excluded!!! The kitchen includes all the necessary tools and cookware to make that family meal after a day swimming or skiing.

3 bedrooms are located upstairs allowing private areas for all. The extra large master bedroom has a king bed with a balcony overlooking the gardens below. The 2nd bedroom down the hall has a cozy queen bed with an adjoining loft with twin beds. Above the kitchen, a bedroom with twin beds has its own private deck with a hot tub.

Whether you’re looking for a week-end, a week or month long get away, this home will give you that mountain experience you’re looking for.

I would not stay here again and renters beware of owners!

  • 1 of 5

the location of the home was extremely misrepresented. the location map showed the home next to the lake, in reality the home was over a quarter mile away but we paid for near lake prices. This house is the owners home and they have many rules and the house is full of all their personal items and very difficult to stay and enjoy. we have been accused of breaking items which we did not but because we bought insurance they must have felt like they should take advantage of that and claim items that they felt they could get repaired by the insurance company. They even had a neighbor come over daily to water plants and come into the home and water the interior plants which basically felt like an invasion of our family vacation. the owners seem very nice but the bad location, 3 pages of rules including no shoes in the house and the fact that they accused us of breaking things which isn't true I would be very weary of renting this home.

Owner's Response: Your evaluation is a little surprising since when we spoke to you a few times after the Google Map mishap, you stated "love the house"," having a great time", and "things turn out for the best" were your words. We can't explain the error on the part of the VRBO Google Map website - you were the first to ever have this issue. We didn't realize your map showed something different than our view of location of our home. Once home, we contacted VRBO and asked them to look into this and they found the issue and corrected the map location. However, when we sent you the contract and info packet of the house, we always had our correct address on it which is only a couple blocks from the lake (FYI -which is 30% of the cost of a lakefront home) .. When we contacted VRBO re: the Google map issue, we mentioned some items in our home that weren't operating correctly after your departure. They encouraged us to use the mandatory insurance they required you to purchase. Since these items were working prior to your arrival, we decided to use the insurance to cover our expenses at no negative impact to you., . (garage door off of tracks, TV sound not working due to buttons pushed on main unit, and speaker). We understand that things can accidently happen and we didn't want it to reflect badly on you. We in no way were trying to be deceptive or take advantage of you. We take great pride in sharing our Tahoe home with you and our personal items from travel collectibles to family treasures. All past renters have enjoyed and commented on the ambiance and" hominess" of our home, with you being the exception. We corresponded with you many times prior to your visit giving you an info packet on "how things work" and "things to do". We don't know what "list of rules" are??Some are just common courtesy requests (remove shoes when you can and don't leave your dogs locked in the house) We also let you know prior to your visit that someone would come in to water as we didn't want to inconvenience you during your vacation.. We hope you find an appropriate home for your next rental, but keep in mind they might not have a chilled bottle of wine and cookies waiting for you or use of their boat buoy. We have had many wonderful renters stay in our home and enjoy everything it has to offer including the location. We'll let the previous renters speak for us and the effort we make to insure they have an enjoyable stay.

Between my daughters having to study and our dog being too old for much of anything we used very few of the many amazing features this area and home have to offer. We started up Eagles trail but our dog was dragging and she's too afflicted with severe separation anxiety that we can't do anything without her. It was just my two daughters, an old dog, and myself so it was way too much house for us. While this place is a bargain for large groups we probably could have gotten something cheaper. And yet - I WOULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN!!! You cannot put a price on all the special touches this home has that can't even be put into words. Even though my daughters did little more than study the whole week they returned feeling recharged because they were able to accomplish so much. This home is so conducive to relaxing that studying takes on a whole new attitude. We NEVER felt like we were in a rental because everything is so top notch (not to be confused with ostentatious). I'm a foodie and I can tell you that this is the first time I've vacationed someplace where I was able to do some experimenting with recipes because there is NOTHING missing in this kitchen. Both daughters perfected their Risotto! There is so much room to spread out that large parties would never be on top of each other. We felt SO at home that I left there feeling like I've known Kathy and Larry all my life and yet we've never met. They did EVERYTHING to make us comfortable in THEIR HOME that for this week was OUR HOME. Wish we could have taken greater advantage of the lake that was so close by, or the many gorgeous hikes that are so close by and that I've been on in the past but that my daughters missed out on; the hot tub; and ALL the beds that were so cute and so inviting. Tahoe City is only a few minutes to the North where you'll find a large Safeway with everything you can possibly need. We had GREAT dinners at River Grill and Bridge Tender and breakfast at Fire Sign Cafe as we drove out was worth the wait. When I return to Lake Tahoe I will only stay here because once you've had the best nothing else will do. THANKS KATHY and LARRY!

Outstanding retreat for our family

  • 5 of 5

Exceedingly comfortable and spacious home. Great front garden with seating for cocktails, napping and barbecue - or all your meals. Clean and private hot tub up in the trees - perfect for post-tubing or waterskiing, or just anytime relaxation. Home itself has all the comforts of home and then some. Great kitchen, spacious dining room looking out to garden, comfy and cozy family room with leather recliner, couch and up to date cable/pandora etc. Bedrooms are great. Garage large enough for kayaks, canoes, SUP's, bikes and more. We (my husband and I and our two boys ages 9 and 11) stayed and had an outstanding time - really rejuvenating. Tons of outdoor options - hiking up Eagle Rock is just a few flat blocks away, the pier/lake is also just a few flat blocks away, easy access to biking trails. Friendly neighborhood - quintessential mountain get-away. Owners/managers could not be more fastidious about ensuring our stay was flawless.

Wonderful Tahoe Pines Home!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this lovely home in Tahoe Pines for our family vacation this summer and absolutely loved it! The location is perfect for walking to the Tahoe Pines Pier, riding bikes and hiking Blackwood Canyon. Our kids had a great time in Kathy's garden, playing on the quiet street and enjoying games at the picnic table on the deck. The home is so cute, comfortable and welcoming! Great kitchen to cook in-felt like home! Everyone loved the hot tub too! Enough beds for all-we have 5 kids. Just loved the gracious touches from Kathy and Larry to make our stay perfect!

Summer Stay

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have rented this house for a week the last two years. It's a great area and a perfect house for a large family. Kathy, the owner, is extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Our activities for the week included mountain biking (Tahoe Rim trail, Flume trail), jogging on the trails (accessible at the end of Grand), downhill biking at Northstar, motor boating & wake boarding on the lake, jet skiing (from Sunnyside), and well-deserved lounging time and paddleboarding at nearby Meeks Bay. For eating, Tahoe House (breakfast pastries) and Sunnyside for dinner were big hits. The house has a great kitchen, excellent outside space for lounging in the shade, and is well-provisioned. Only downside is that the rest of the world seems to have discovered how amazing Tahoe is in the summer, so traffic can get ugly on the weekends. Stay in and enjoy the house on the weekends...

Great House

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house with another family many times this winter and it is so beautiful.

The kids loved playing inside and outside, the house has a great flat yard, and we enjoyed every part of our stay. Even our dogs just loved it! Everything was always meticulously prepared for us.

The living area is very spacious and the kitchen is well equipped. We love the Westshore and now, with the addition of Westshore Cafe, it's even nicer.

Larry and Kathy treat you not like renters, but more like house guests. You just feel welcome.

Thank you, we will be back!
