Overview

About the property

Sleeps 5, queen, twin, sleeper sofa

To speak with owner please call 315-685-6279. This quaint, pet friendly (with owner permission) cottage is one mile from center of Skaneateles village-easy walking distance. It's located on a private lane approximately 400 feet from Skaneateles Lake-no roads to cross. The cottage is surrounded by trees and very private. The cottage, while a 2 minute stroll down the private lane to the lake, includes a separate, private porch (rustic red building shown in photo) right on the lake-great for cocktails, sunsets, cooking out ,etc. The lake front is level, has its own dock, and and has a gradual slope-great for swimming for all ages. The lane is tree lined-very private. The cottage is heated, has a fire place. The cottage can accomodate a family of 4 -6 people, and has wi-fi.

Peace and serenity

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was May 18, 2018. The directions were very clear and the cottage was easy to find. It is nestled in the trees down a lane heading to the lake. The cottage was very clean. Andy provided clear instructions for the cottage, including wifi/local attractions/check-out procedures. Despite the rainy and cool weather, we enjoyed sitting on the porch and drinking coffee. Ample linens were provided and the beds were comfortable. When traveling to Skaneateles again, I would book this cottage again. It is a gem in the woods with a good amount of privacy.

Quiet pet-friendly retreat on the lake

  • 5 of 5

What a delightful cottage by Lake Skaneateles. Pet-friendly, clean and well-appointed for a couple or small family with access to the lake, and minutes away from the quaint town of Skaneateles. We appreciated the recommendations Andy left for breakfast (Willow Glen Cafe) and dinner (Sherwood Inn). Kitchen was very well stocked and a nice open floor plan with high ceilings makes the cottage feel larger than it actually is. We will definitely make a return trip since there is so much more to explore around the area. Thanks so much to the owners - Andy, Jeri and Roberta - you have a hidden gem!

Private and relaxing

Everything we needed, the modern conveniences of a kitchen, bathroom and bed and a beautiful yard, the lake is a short walk away pack some drinks and towels and spend some time at the private beach. Very quiet yet close to town.

Peaceful cabin on the doorstep to Skaneateles

  • 5 of 5

Great location close to the village of Skaneateles yet you feel like you are in the woods just steps from the lake. For someone looking to quiet place this is an awesome location. Very quiet neighborhood. The cabin has everything you need. I Highly recommend this cabin.

Quaint it ain’t

  • 1 of 5

Disappointing rental. Fooled by the reviews that were glowing about this place. Sometimes quaint is good. Sometimes it ain’t. This is one of those. Picture of the front makes it seem like it’s a lot more secluded than it is. Floors are badly uneven. Heat is noisy (think 90 db!). Water pressure in the shower non-existant.

It was one of the few pet-friendly places on Homeaway in the area. For the price, definitely not worth it.

Owner's Response: Not sure how to begin a response to this review. First negative review in 12 years. Yes, we are one of the only pet friendly places in the area. My biggest issue with this review is the guest never called me to let me know there was a problem. I live on the property and could have resolved any issue he had immediately. As far as the heat goes 3 of the 4 rooms are electric heat, very quiet. To be fair there is a wall heater in one room that can be noisy. Most people don't use it. Most of the rental season it's not necessary. There is a fire place. This person rented in mid April and it was pretty cold. Not sure why he didn't use the fire place or notify me. In mid April in CNY there are no leaves, nothing is in bloom. So naturally, the rental is not as secluded as shown in the pictures. The pictures show the rental in season, not in April. The fact is most of our guests comment on how private it is, especially given it's a mile from village center. In 12 years I've never had a complaint about water pressure. Again, not sure why this guest didn't notify me at the time. My family and I work very hard to make this this rental a pleasant experience for all our guests.

We had a great stay!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was clean and welcoming, and had everything you might need for cooking and eating in. The property was quiet and it was a short walk to the lake front where you culd sit and enjoy the view. The owner was friendly and was kind enough to provide drinking water for us and our dogs, as there was some slight risk associated with the lake water, which he took care to advise us of when we arrived. There was a so a printout detailing the water quality issue and city contact information of we needed it. The town nearby was also very nice hand had lots of great spots to choose from for dinner.
