This quaint, pet friendly cottage is one mile from center of Skaneateles village-easy walking distance. It's located on a private lane approximately 400 feet from Skaneateles Lake-no roads to cross. The cottage is surrounded by trees and very private. The cottage, while a 2 minute stroll down the private lane to the lake, includes a separate, private porch (rustic red building shown in photo) right on the lake-great for cocktails, sunsets, cooking out ,etc. The lake front is level, has its own dock, and and has a gradual slope-great for swimming for all ages. The lane is tree lined-very private. The cottage is heated, has a fire place. The cottage can accomodate a family of 4 -6 people, and has wi-fi.
The cabin has been re-done inside and there is access to a nice porch and beach area that is attached to a 2nd cabin closer to the water. The owner let us use his rowboat and we paddled around on our kayak we brought. The water is so clean you can see the bottom of the lake while paddling around. My son forgot his iPod and the owner found it between the couch cushions and sent it that day. We didn't see anyvbody hardly around the beach area, so it is very private. Nice value and good location within a short jog to town. Very pleasnt landlords that live there. There might have been 1-2 extra bugs around, but related to a soggy stretch of summer. If your gonna vacation around Syracuse, you can probably handle it.
It is a quaint cottage very close to the town of Skaneateles which is beautiful. The owners of the cottage live right on the property as well and are so super nice! We really felt a part of their "family" but they weren't intrusive. Most of the conversations happened because they were out in their yard and I stopped to talk with them. They were very welcoming! A very short walk to their private "beach". It was very clean and very well maintained. The road coming into the cabin almost makes a very cool tunnel with the trees overhanding. and I experienced the most amazing site. when I was walking my puppy before bed I walked through the tunnel of trees and all in the trees flying around were fireflies it felt very magical! My only concern with posting this review is that more people will book this house and it will be harder for us to book! Should we make our way to Skaneateles again THIS is where we will stay!
My wife and I just got back from a weekend at the house and the place is gorgeous. We went with our 8 year old son who fished right off the dock and caught a fish and we were swimming as well. The whole house is spotless and clean and the area is so quiet and private and the lake access is less than a minute away with a great resting spot at the waters edge. The house is also very close to the main street.
Andrew was the perfect host and always available for any questions or anything we needed otherwise it was like no one else was around.
We will definitely come back and hopefully get all sun this time :-)
This cottage is shagri-la for anyone who wants a feeling of privacy in a beautiful place while still being a short mile drive to the village for convenience. The trees surrounding the property give one a feeling of seclusion and serenity, and a short walk down the drive will bring you to your own private waterfront area with your own dock, and beach chairs to sit on whilst reading or just enjoying the ambience this lake provides. I've rented several camps/cottages on Skaneateles, and this one is now far and away my favorite: reasonable rates, friendly--yet not intrusive--owners, everything you need in the way of kitchen supplies, and it's CLEAN! A couple I've rented haven't been, so this is a big plus! The best part, for me, is the lake itself: Skaneateles simply can't be beat for clean, clear water for swimming, boating, fishing. This time of year--late Sept./early Oct.--is great for a drive through the countryside, and if you take one, check out the Navarino Orchard, whether to pick some apples or just visit the store. It's very pretty and relaxing there, as well. All in all, I just can't wait to go back and stay in this cottage again next year. See you then, folks! And thanks for providing a wonderful place : )
The cottage was very clean & well-supplied. Easy access to the lake without steep stairs - perfect for older pets and people. It was really nice to see that the ducks on the water felt safe in the area. There is a little cove where a couple of duck families raise their young. Neighbours told us that there was no hunting, & we didn't see any offensive duck blinds like we saw on some of the other lakes. We observed everyone to be respectful of the wildlife in the area. All in all, it was a perfect vacation.
We found this cabin on the homeaway website and decided to make a reservation. What a good decision !
We found it to be very clean and described accurately. It was outfitted with everything you need for your stay. We travel with our small dog so the fact that the property was pet friendly was a plus. The porch on the lake with our own dock and beach was the best. We spent many hours reading there and enjoying the view on this crystal clear lake. The village is a short drive away and holds many fine restaurants, shops and parks to discover.
Andy, Jeri and Roberta were great hosts and made this a great vacation.
Skaneateles Lake is spring fed and known for its clarity and beauty. Its shore line is lined with spectacular homes. The village is quaint, warm-a destination village located at the North end of the lake, 1 mile from the cottage.
