Sandwiched in between our stays in Florence and Bologna, this was the chill part of the holiday and it certainly fitted the bill. our host, Ursula, stayed in contact whenever required and met us at the apartment, filling us in on the area , what to do, what to avoid etc. The apartment was super... very spacious rooms even though primarily for two people. The kitchen was really well equipped for cooking in (except struggled for a pizza cutter!!!) and in so many ways could not be faulted. A nod to the idea of mesh on most windows by the way Ursula, great plan to let air in without the flying, bitey things coming too!!! Location was very central... bear in mind there is a park cum play area opposite and Italians do stay up late but not to any serious detriment. Do try the Little Cinque Terre rather than the main one if you want the same scenary (in some cases better) without the crowds and guided tours.. Use the trains - if you are English - it is on a different level!!! and enjoy. Restaurants are all pretty good.
All in all a great place to stay and heartily recommended. Well done to our host and would certainly come back again without hesitation..... and we rarely say that!!!
My wife and I stayed with our 20 month old for a week in early April and it's one of the best Holidays we've had. The apartment is a perfect base for visiting the the Cinque Terre however Levanto itself is a beautiful town and a nice retreat from the busy 5 villages. As we had to get our little one asleep early we cooked for ourselves in the well equipped apartment most evenings. Rather than feeling shut away and missing out on Italian nightlife, we opened the windows and ate our meals to the sound of children and their families enjoying the last few hours of sun in the park outside. It was idyllic. The apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay however it is worth being aware that the cost of utilities (Gas & Electric) are not included in the rent of the apartment, though this should not deter you from booking. Ursula was a brilliant host providing local knowledge and even picked us up, and offered to give us a lift back to the train station, because of our toddler. It's clear why others gave her such praise in reviews I read before booking.
Very nice, modern apartment in the heart of town. Just steps from many excellent places to eat and the beach is just across the very active city park. We loved staying in Levanto and visiting the towns of the Cinque Terre from there. It is a short train ride away and much quieter to stay in Levanto. I would come back here again.
One Wonderful Week in Levanto
We are Canadian travellers who spent a week in Ulla's apartment as part of our six week travels throughout Italy and Spain. This apartment exceeded our expectations in so many ways but most important was the caring and thoughtful treatment that we received from Ulla. Not only did she spend time with us in the town pointing out shops and restaurants and bike rental locations she was extremely helpful with suggesting train travel from Milan for our friend who was arriving from Canada. The apartment had everything needed for making ones stay most comfortable and was certainly spotless and tidy.
Watching the daily hustle and bustle of the town's people in the square and park outside our window provided us with many enjoyable evenings all while sipping some fine Italian wine. We enjoyed our bike ride and walks along the ocean bike trail to Bonassola (a good spot for a cappuccino). Hiking from Levanto to Monterosso is spectacular and you can continue on to Vernazza if you wish. A hiking trail from behind the hospital also leads to beautiful scenery and a less busy trail. This is definitely the place to stay as a base for visiting the Cinque Terre towns which can be overly busy with tourists.
We hope to return to Levanto and stay at Ulla's apartment in the near future. We have also recommended this location to friends interested in travelling to this area.
It just could not get better!
After my second stay here, over a month, I just did not want to leave. You will read in other reviews similar accolades but this place is perfect! It is like having a home fully equipped and comfortable and relaxing. They say location is everything and this flat and town has it. The villages of the Cinque Terre are so crowded now that after a brief view or hike you will relish opening your door here back home. Enjoy the sounds of Italian life from the park, steps away you can shop for local fresh pasta, meat, vegetables, and come back and cook an amazing meal in the super well stocked kitchen. Ulla has made this flat more then comfortable, lovely, bright, relaxing and calming. Truly steps from beach, no crowds like other Italian villages, yet all easily accessible without a car. Amazing restaurants, affordable prices, and the best hostess, Ulla. All this and more make this a six star! You will love it!
Levanto, a town of about 6000 inhabitants, is characterized by its medieval buildings, such as B. the city wall, the arches, the clock tower and in particular the church of Sant'Andrea. Many of the old palazzi have been harmoniously restored and are particularly charming to holidaymakers.
The geographical location ensures a mild climate and guarantees a relaxing stay. Vacationers will find diving and swimming schools, boat rentals, beach pools, bocce courts, bike and moped rentals and tennis courts in Levanto. Excursions to the culturally rich, nearby cities of Genoa, Chiavari, Pisa and Lucca or to the breathtaking quarries of Carrarra bring a lot of variety to the active vacationer.
The hiking trails to Monterosso or Bonassola, which lie along olive groves and pine forests, start right in the village and walkers and trained hikers can enjoy the enchanting panorama along the cliffs?s.
