Overview

Laguna Beach House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

A unique, 80 year old Laguna writer's home, still owned by original family. The house is three bedrooms, two baths, set on a half acre of wooded hillside, six blocks from the beach, one mile south of downtown Laguna Beach, near BlueBird Canyon.

One of Laguna's early homes, built simply with pine walls and floors, the house has a good-sized living and dining room with a wonderful fireplace.

Soaring eucalyptus trees planted around the perimeter of the property in the 1920s host a variety birds and migrating monarch butterflies. The natural, spacious landscape encourages the play of children.

The beach is a short walk from the house and offers a fascinating

change of scene as tides work their way in and out.

Perfect as an artist or family retreat.

California dreaming!

  • 5 of 5

As the owners describe, this house is quaint, cozy and historic. It's location is ideal for being a part of the Laguna Beach community. You can walk to everything and there is so much to do. The two times we left Laguna to check out neighboring localities we wondered why we ever left Laguna. The house is a beach cottage, but so much more as you are in a private oasis up in the trees and can look out to the ocean. Kitchen and bathrooms are older and small, but enhanced, not detracted from the experience. The whole place was a welcome reminder that a smaller space, with simple accommodations, in a beautiful location are all you need and what you need. Loved the fireplace too and lots of seasoned wood for cooler nights.

The way Laguna used to be.

I've always enjoyed the house, the rustic setting and its proximity to the beach.. I've stayed there now four times over the last three years. A memory house for me, since I used to live just around the corner on Bluebird Canyon where my daughter grew up. This year Annette even got the cable company to add ESPN and other sports channel stations for my short stay. I hope to come back every year and again experience "Old L:aguna." A real treat. You can go home again. Charles Constantin

Hidden cabin retreat

  • 5 of 5

What a cool place with tons of character and charm! Nestled in a hidden grove of huge eucalyptus trees you'll find a cabin that's thankfully not been replaced by a modern monster of a house. The odd hillside layout adds to the character of the place. A bit of a room here and a bit of one over there really defines separate rooms for those that want a little space or privacy, while like a mosaic the pieces seem to work well together as a whole. The outside space is great for breakfast and coffee to evening drinks. Leaving the windows open at night even put this insomniac into a coma like sleep. I'll definitely look this place up when I'm back in town, so you should too.

St. Patrick's Day Stay

  • 5 of 5

Me and my fiancee rented this cottage with our parents to enjoy a nice time together before getting married. It was the perfect fit. Wire cottage definitely has beautiful simplistic rustic charm and is spacious. Located in a slightly secluded property (because of trees surrounding property) in a quiet neighborhood, this is ideal for privacy and relaxation. The cottage is very close to the beach, five minute walk or less. Also, there is a supermarket just down the street. Laguna is a great place to stay if you are interested in art. There are numerous galleries along the streets and in downtown. It is about a 2-5 min drive downtown, and maybe around 20 minutes to walk depending on speed. There are a lot of nice beaches to go to in the surrounding area. Laguna has a nice relaxed vibe but is also vibrant and busy on weekends. The cottage itself: the kitchen was well equipped and even had extra seasoning available to use. The deck is awesome----> good weather, nice views, and a bbq:) The shower was great. Hot water worked well. No problems with any amenities and had everything you probably will need. There was a wi-fi code. The lock box for the keys was easy and convenient. We really did not need to contact the property manager or owner during the stay. If you like privacy and a low-key place that is like your own for a fair price then this is def. the place to come. Also as a plus, it was cool to see the before photos on the wall of when the cottage was the only building built on the surrounding land. Also, nice to see the original owner's photos on the wall. They even have an unpublished manuscript copy of one of Mr. Wire's works. I love books and was happy this was a originally a writer's cottage so this was an added charm for me. My entire family enjoyed their stay. We would definitely stay again if given the opportunity and would recommend it as a place to stay to our family and friends.

Old-School Charm

  • 5 of 5

I just love this house. It's got to be on one of the original plots in Laguna. Not the closest to the beach, but within walking distance and that is made up for by the breeze you get by being up towards the base of the mountain. Reminded me of the holidays I had as a child in the 1970s. Those seeking plasma TV, air conditioning, luxury linens will be happier elsewhere but those happy with beach, BBQ and lovely views will love it here. Already working on booking again for next summer.

Hubby's B-Day

  • 5 of 5

What a gift this property was, a step back in time. The home has so much personality and the property so much serenity I can't imagine a better place to ever stay in Laguna Beach. You will love the location and how close it is to the beach without all the beach noise and traffic. The owners made renting easy and returned the deposit in a timely manner. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!!!
