Wonderful getaway for the family

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a great getaway with our two adult sons at this very well set up cabin. The three bedrooms have comfortable beds and the living area and kitchen are very well equipped. We all loved the huge front deck and enjoyed breakfasts there among the pines. This cabin has been completely updated. It is 1/2 mile walk from a nice community beach. The entrance to a park with well defined walking trails is a block away. There is a bakery and deli within walking distance through the park, if you want to incorporate this into your hike. The library of movies and games is amazing. Everything you need is here, for a comfortable family vacation.

Perfect family winter retreat

  • 4 of 5

This listing is located in a nice area of Tahoe City near skiing, shopping, restaurants and the lake. We had 5 adults with lots of room to relax, eat, play games and sleep. The house is large, updated and nicely decorated. The neighborhood is safe and well maintained. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare meals, including dishes, pots and pans, spices. Lots of towels and extra bedding if you have extra people. The living room has a nice wood burning stove and plenty of wood provided by the homeowner. The garage will fit two SUV or smaller cars. The homeowner was pleasant and accommodating and the rental process was easy and stress free. The homeowner will refund the cleaning deposit if you leave the home clean with sheets and towels washed and put away. (This was a little time consuming and took up a large portion of our last day.) The only bad comment I have is that since the cleaning is done by the previous renters, you are stuck with their idea of cleanliness. (The bathrooms were not as clean as I would have liked.) I'm sure if you want to have the house professionally cleaned before you arrive the homeowner will arrange for you. All-in-all I was very happy with this house and would definitely return again.

Absolutely perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

This was my family's first trip to Tahoe and first time seeing snow! All the excitement also carried it's own share of stress. However, Mr. & Mrs. Murchison made the process of booking, checking in, and checking out so seamless that it was the only thing i didn't have to think about on our trip. Their lovely home was so cozy that my children was able relax, unwind, and truly enjoy themselves. We didn't have to go far to play in the snow. 8" of snow was piled on the deck and all around the home. I didn't have to worry about sleds as there are a few to use in the garage. The wood burning stove in their home is a plus! We loved it!

There was plenty room for our family of 9 - everyone had their own space and it never felt overly crowded. The home was fully equipped so I could cook any meal.

Thank you so very much Pete & Julie! We will most definitely be back!

Mahalo,

Rhibecca Martin & Ohana

Perfect place for a Tahoe retreat

  • 5 of 5

We spent a long weekend at the Murchison's cabin, our group was three adults, which worked out perfectly as we each had our own bedroom. The amenities of the cabin were great! We especially enjoyed grilling out on the deck- and using the fire pit on the patio. We had a great time preparing meals in the well equipped kitchen. The electric fence was easy to use and we had no problems powering it up and down before leaving for the day's adventures. While we did have to spend Sunday morning cleaning up, we were able to play some horseshoes while waiting for the linens to dry, and the Murchison's were great about refunding our cleaning fee. Although this cabin was not necessarily lakeside, I would guarantee anyone staying here would find the cabin a comfortable retreat after spending the day exploring, swimming, hiking, skiing, and experiencing all the natural wonders in and around Tahoe.

Owner's Response: This sounds like a great weekend . Thank you for cleaning up, which is always rewarded with a full refund of the deposit. There is a direct route from the house to the lake and hurricane bay which is about a half mile walk. No problem for your group on the next visit. Pete and julie

Surrounded by Beautiful Pine trees

  • 4 of 5

My husband’s family came all the way from Europe to enjoy California, so we wanted to find the best location away from the noise of city life. We ultimately chose Tahoe City from all the nearby cities around the lake because of their lovely downtown area. The second condition we had was that the house had to be far enough from the tourists like ourselves, but within reach of restaurants, stores, and summer activities. The Murchison’s house is situated about a 1.5 miles from what we wanted, but is nestled in a quiet area up the hill where beautiful pine trees surround the property. We were impressed by the overall cleanliness of the house, especially the kitchen which had granite countertops, gas stovetop/oven, stainless steal refrigerator—appliances that were updated, easy to use and clean. We had nine people total and the space accommodated our needs. The home is well-decorated, so you actually feel like it is a part of the natural setting. Additionally, there is cable tv, wifi, a landline phone in case you need to all out, enough blankets, and household amenities. If you really want a home away from home, the Murchison’s lake house is where you should stay.
