We wanted a place away from it all... on the ocean and this fit the bill. We enjoyed the propane stove in the evenings and the sunshine on the ocean during the days. The beds were comfortable. Had my first S'Mores! Living without cell service and WIFI was really nice...didn't miss anything! Thank you for sharing your home.
Peaceful, private, beautiful and rejuvenating
Thank you, Jim. You have a very special place there. I am grateful to have spent a bit of time rocking in your rocking chair while looking out at the ocean, climbing down to your wonderfully stone-filled beach, spotting seals and hawks from the yard, hiking on the beach from right there at the house, tuning into the ocean's dramatic tides, and taking day trips to hike and explore in Lubec and Eastport. The smell of the ocean air, the sights and sounds, will stay with me. The house and property were restful and rejuvenating, and allowed this sorely nature-deprived person to reconnect. You were also incredibly helpful and lovely. I would love to return again, and recommend this spot.
Beautiful spot on the ocean!
We are Mainers from southern Maine and hadn't been to this area in years. We are so glad we returned and chose to stay at this wonderful cottage on the ocean. Everything other than food was provided which made packing for the trip easy. The video collection and library were amazing. We watched a movie or two each night, and enjoyed having such a variety of books. The views were beautiful! We enjoyed watching the tides, and beach combing ( found sand dollars, beautiful shells, sea glass, and unusual rocks). Animals are abundant from the rabbit visiting daily, to the seals just off shore, to the multitude of birds including ospreys and bald eagles. An eagle landed on the fir tree just outside the house 3 times. The location makes for an easy drive to Lubec, Eastport and Calais which have great restaurants, shops and historical sites. We would certainly love to return next summer for another week.
Not only was the home beautifully situated on the ocean, but I cannot say how much we valued the guidance from the owners. Our kids had a wonderful time on the beach, especially as we received specific directions on where to find the best sand dollars. The kitchen was well- equipt with the standard necessities, but also many spices, and a lobster pot! The town is lovely and we enjoyed the multitude of local restaurants. Border-crossing there is close to enjoyable- the officers engaged in conversation with the children! We were just a quick trip away from Canada and we enjoyed trips to St. Andrews, St. Stephen, and St. John. We had the most amazing whale watch from St. Andrews where there were 2 marine biologists on the ship educating both the adults and children. Don't forget Monica's in Lubec if you love good chocolate! We recommend without reservation :-)
Beautiful and quiet
Wonderful experience with my husband and 2 teen children. We were comfortable, not connected to the world ( which we wanted) and had a fabulous time sea kayaking and walking all over. Everything was pretty much provided, and the views were fantastic for a price we could afford. Thank you
Private ,Beautiul view, Homey, and Very clean.
The Robbinston home was a wonderful vacation for us. It was quiet and the views where beautiful. We saw seals, eagles, hawks, sea birds and of course the hard working lobster fisherman from the front window. There is stairs in the back of the property to take you to the rocky beach. The house was comfortable and homey. It was wonderful after a 12 hour drive to be able to crawl into a fresh lovely bed. We didn't need to take linens ot towels, everything except food was their for you. There is a lot to see in the area, and a lot of wonderful restaurants (the seafood and deserts are amazing!) Cell phone reception is very spotty there, but we didn't mind a bit. It was a place to relax and recharge ourselves. Kuddos to Jim and Sherry
