Delightful clean, well-appointed lakeside house

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 10 days at Autumn Cove. The house was spotlessly clean & furnished to a high standard. Visiting from Scotland, we were grateful that our host was very efficient in answering the few email queries we had. We arranged linen hire from 'Wegotyoucovered'. Views over the lake were stunning and the daily swims off the dock were so welcome. We hired a motor boat and tube one day from Bridgewater Marina and the family had fun exploring the coves and enjoying the warm water. We were especially taken with the ospreys, bald eagle, hummingbirds, cardinals, swallowtails and deer by the house. We had many interesting visits including Walton's Mountain Museum at Schuyler, hiking at Peaks of Otter (we'd recommend the shuttle bus to near the summit), the Smith Mountain Lake state park, shopping in Roanoke, and mini golf at Hot Shots in Westlake (really good fun) and at Bridgewater Plaza. A drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway is not to be missed. We would also recommend some great restaurants including Waller's, Vinnie's, Cancun Mexican at Westlake and Mango's at Bridgewater Plaza. Food Lion in Moneta is very convenient for provisions. We would love to return!

Owner's Response: We were very pleased to welcome this family. As international travelers, their arrangements required a little extra attention, which we were happy to provide. It is refreshing to read about the things they saw and valued during their stay at the lake. We are pleased that their stay was enjoyable. They are very considerate, wonderful renters!

Awesome Weekend at Smith Mtn Lake

  • 5 of 5

We booked this property for Graduation weekend at Liberty University. It was only about 45 minutes from campus, but it allowed us to be away from all of the hustle and bustle and relax a little. The first thing we did when we arrived was go straight out onto the deck to check out the view. The deck was freshly painted with new furniture and the view was beautiful. There were two ducks splashing around in the water and the kids really enjoyed seeing them. The house was exactly what we needed. When you pull into the driveway, the front door is only steps away and it was very easy to unload/load the car. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and everything was very clean. I especially liked that the bathrooms had separate doors to the shower and toilet so that more than one person could use the space. This was especially nice for us on the morning of Graduation when 6 people were getting ready at the same time. There is a Food Lion shopping center about 7 minutes away that also has a couple of restaurants and a Dollar General nearby. We cooked one night and the kitchen had everything we needed, including tin foil and salt and pepper. We ordered out the next night from Lago’s Pizza (which is adjacent to Food Lion) and the food there was delicious! The views from the house are wonderful. There are sliding glass doors that lead to a deck upstairs or a patio downstairs. The dock is well maintained and we enjoyed a little time out there as well. It did rain during our stay, but that really didn’t bother us. My husband and son were able to get a little fishing in and the kids really enjoyed the air hockey table that was downstairs. There were board games and books available and we never even turned the TV on. It was nice to have the washer/dryer so that we didn’t have to return home with dirty towels and there was also an iron/ironing board available. I was a little worried about having to take the trash, but the trash site was a short drive and easy to find. Just remember that it’s open 7a-7p. The owner was very easy to work with and answered a few of my questions quickly via email before we arrived. I received my deposit refund only a day after checking out. We hope to return to the area in the fall and we would not hesitate to book this property again!!

A WONDERFUL WEEKEND !

  • 5 of 5

We rented this awesome home for a short weekend away. My husband played in the Chance Crawford Softball Tournament that was being held in Roanoke. This house made the hour drive to the ball fields well worth it !!! We loved every minute we were in the house. It was clean and it had way more things stocked in the cabinets than i had expected. The children's toys being there was a great surprise since at last minute we had to end up bringing our two young children, it's nice to know there are family oriented rental homes out there !! We will definitely be keeping the contact information for this location and we will visit agin!

A family reunion

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect location for a week long getaway. The house is comfortable and in a "no wake" zone which is desirable for noise reduction from boat traffic. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and the homeowner was quick to respond to a question via email we had thought of while in route to the house. It's very nice for bigger families or couples getting away as each bedroom has its own full bathroom and the rooms are away from each other, although if you are in the downstairs bath, you can hear the person in the bathroom above. We brought our dog. He loved it. The downstairs is super quiet and we felt safe leaving him while we ventured off during the day.The upstairs deck is perfect if you are traveling with someone who cannot do stairs, but would like to sit outside and breathe the lake air! We loved staying downstairs and having our own living room and patio. There were lots of games, puzzles, ect. for kids. Lastly, my cousin was able to visit us by boat and easily tie up his bass boat to the dock. We would stay in this home again. Thank you!!

Beautiful and clean home

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a relaxing and fun Easter weekend at Autumn Cove. My family and I live far apart and past meetups in hotels were stressful and never relaxing but this was exactly what we wanted for a family meetup. The house is clean and has many amenities. Checking in and out was easy and the instructions were clear. It is accessible to the grocery store, restaurants, shops, and other fun activities. The boat rental was right down the street. Everything was so easy. The grill, washer and drier, and dish washer were very nice to have. There were plenty of games and the tv had Netflix. It was impossible to get bored. Our stay was short and it was a bit too cold to swim so we hope to come back in the warmer months.

We have no complaints about the house and were very happy with our experience. Thank you so much!!
