Overview

About the property

4 bedrooms (view of the ocean and mountains), 3 bathrooms, sunroom, garden

False Horizons is a two-storey, spacious, bright, and charming wooden house, that will help you unwind and inspire your imagination. It has four bedrooms (3 upper, 1 lower) with double or twin beds and built-in cabinets, and can comfortably accommodate eight to nine people. All the rooms have spacious arrangements and are decorated in a sleek, yet warm, style. A sunroom on the first floor overlooks the bay and the mountains. This is an excellent place to watch the whales in the bay. This room leads directly into a bright, spacious living room and an adjacent dining room (8 seats). It looks out onto the terraced, Cape Town-style gardens. The living room features a fireplace for keeping warm on those cold and windy days. The open kitchen has a modern and sleek design and everything you would expect from a top-notch kitchen, incl. a large refrigerator and a freezer, two large stoves (electric) with ovens, a microwave, and a dishwasher). On the first floor, there are two bathrooms (one with a shower, the other with a bathtub/shower) each with a toilet. On the ground floor, there is an additional bathroom (with shower and toilet). All the bathrooms have good water pressure. The ground floor is a large, open space, with large glass doors (which lead to the garden in front). The sleeping area (double bed) is slightly closed off and abuts the living room and the kitchen (which leads to the garden). All furnishings are new and modern. The large, terraced garden has a lawn and makes for a nice shelter from the wind. Our children call it the “Adventure Garden”. The front garden (lawn) is furnished with a table and benches, and a large grill (which can all be moved to the back garden). The home has a double garage, which also houses the washing machine. The house is secured with an alarm system. The house sits atop a hill, overlooking False Bay, Glencairn Beach, and the mountains. The area is known for its great beaches, water sports offerings, and golf courses, but especially for the large number of whales (September through November) and the bays full of penguins. The three upper bedrooms have a view of the bay, the beach, and the mountains. The long, sandy beach is just a 10-minute walk away. The house is best suited for families and groups. There is plenty of space, ample opportunity for some alone time, and a great deal of green space. However, couples will find it cosy, too, as it is so easy to kick back, relax, and enjoy life here. There are a multitude of hiking and mountain biking trails in the vicinity. Simon’s Town and the neighbouring areas boast golf courses and all kinds of water sports, as well as countless restaurants, bars, and shops. Any type of cyclists will love the challenging and unique landscape.

Huge house, great location, stunning views !!!

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of five and enjoyed very much our stay at False Horizon!

The house is very spacious, cosy and well equipped with a stunning ocean view. We enjoyed the newly renovated bathrooms and the additional condo in the basement, equipped with a piano :-)

The weather was very cold so we became to use and love the fireplace in the house very very much.

We had a very warm welcome from Kathy who took good care of all our questions and needs during our stay. A special thank you and very big hug to her !!!

Overall False Herizon is a great place to stay. And we're looking forward to hopefully come back soon.

Wonderful property for families well situated

  • 5 of 5

Spacious house with beautiful views situated in Glencairn close to Simontown. Everything worked well and the house is definitely comfortable. For a family of 5 this was perfect with grocery shopping close by at the Longview Mall but especially great location if you rent a car since you can access lots of nice beaches close by (Muizenberg for surfing and warmer water), based on which way the wind is blowing you can go to either the west or east beaches. Only an hour drive from City Center via the M3 or even more spectacular Chapman's Peak drive (through Hout Bay) and on to Table Mountain. Also easy access to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and all the vineyards either at Constantia, Stellenbosch or Summerset West. I fully recommend this place and the person greeting (Debbie) us was very helpful as well. Overall the house was very clean and lived up to all it promised.

A house on a hill to remember!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented this home on our first trim to South Africa. We are not familiar with the area and lucked out with this house. It is in a great neighborhood. Perfectly situated to take advantage of the endless breeze coming off the ocean and to reveal a breathtaking sunrise every morning. If you are looking for an authentic experience then Glencarin is the perfect little area. A short walk will bring you to the train station where for about $2.00 you can ride between the towns all day long, or grab an UBER that never took longer than 10 minutes to pick us up regardless of time of day. If you would rather walk there are convenient paths / sidewalks that hug the coast line and offer amazing scenery.

The only thing that would have made this stay more enjoyable would have been adding three to four weeks to our stay. Nine days is just not long enough in such a warm, and inviting home.

You can't beat a view like this! A perfect escape.

  • 5 of 5

You can't beat a view like this! A perfect escape, nestled between Kalk Bay and Simon's Town, you start to unwind the minute you arrive. Comfy beds, bright and big kitchen, a huge self contained flat downstairs, a fireplace, big dining table for family dinners or dinner parties, and enclosed balcony where you can drink in that killer view in comfort, it makes it very hard to leave!

We had an incredible time staying here, and it will be on our must-do list every time we visit Cape Town. Very highly recommended! Thank you for having us Peter and Tanja!

Schőnes Haus um Kapstadt und Umgebung kennen zu lernen.

  • 4 of 5

It’s the perfect place for mountain bikers, hikers, (kite)surfers and other water sports aficionados, as well as families. Two mountain bikes are available for use, in addition to the toys and games provided for the kids. Glencairn is part of Simon’s Town, famous for its penguins, its port, and its waterfront full of restaurants and shops. Simon’s Town Waterfront is just a short drive away. Kalk Bay, with its countless cafes, restaurants, intriguing storefronts, and active fishing harbour, is a great place to stroll and look around. Cape Point and its unique, unspoilt landscape are truly ravishing. Cape Point is just a short drive away. There is a road that leads from Glencairn to the centre of Cape Town, which is roughly a 35-minute drive.
