Welcome to our Manuel Antonio home, a fully-staffed, 6-bedroom, 6-bath luxury Villa and Guest House in an unusually private and beautiful setting bordering the 50-meter Maritime Protection Zone. The Villa and Guest House are perched high above the Pacific, with ever present sea breezes and sounds of surf crashing below. Our beach (Playa la Macha), which is usually deserted, is a 15-minute hike from the Villa. Ours is the only residence in Manuel Antonio with a cove all to itself and one of the few close enough to the water to hear the surf crashing against the rocks.
The views of the ocean and sunset from the Villa are breathtaking. Wildlife and tropical flowers abound on our property and in the surrounding rainforest. Monkeys, countless birds, and an occasional sloth are regular visitors to nearby trees and are easily spotted from the Villa or our terraces and swimming pool.
The house is of the finest construction in teak, cedar, almond, and terra cotta, all sited in beautiful landscaped grounds. Each bedroom has a view, a king bed and it's own bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have their own living areas, in addition to the bright and breezy main living space.
Villa La Macha is located in one of Costa Rica's most beautiful coastal areas, Quepos and Manuel Antonio. An almost endless string of secluded coves and tropical beaches and the charming, well-supplied town of Quepos are minutes away. Five miles down the road is a jewel of this ecologically sensitive country, Manuel Antonio National Park. The waters offshore offer some of the best marlin and sailfish sport fishing in the world. Villa La Macha is handsomely furnished in teak furniture and original artworks and provides a beautiful home for families, small wedding parties, and groups of friends to share.
We have added all the amenities you could want for a perfect vacation, including fine sheets, towels and china, our favorite spa shampoos and soaps, a Bose Wave stereo, Satellite TV, Wi-Fi and high speed internet, two phone lines, a library of 150 of our favorite books, and a booklet recommending for our guests our favorite restaurants, beaches, masseuses, fishing charters, white water river trips, surf spots, surf instructors, zip lines, hikes, nightspots, spanish tutors, and nannies.
Our family stayed at Villa La Macha December 2-9th, 2016. It was paradise! There were 9 adult family members/friends and plenty of space to hang out together or have some alone time. Every day we would wake up to a wonderful breakfast being made. Jota and his wife and mom arrived at 8am and started preparing breakfast and any other meal we wanted to have that day. They went grocery shopping for us and made several special trips. Jota really went out of his way to make us all feel pampered. He arranged last minute tours and made sure we got good deals. We went down the trail to Playa La Macha several times during the trip. The hike back up the hill is a bit tiring, but the sandy beach and perfect waves made it well worth it. At the house, we had dinner every night on the porch overlooking the water. The food was so delicious and healthy. Fresh guacamole every day made for a special treat. I have stayed at many VRBO's but this was the absolute best experience and we all want to go back soon. Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience! Oh, and you will love the monkey's in the yard....it's like your own national park!
We were two families - 5 adults, 5 kids (between the ages of 4 and 9) - that shared this lovely property for 9 nights in August 2016. Overall, it was a GREAT find!
The best feature of the house is the staff that comes with it. The primary manager of the property (Jota) helps you with all your needs - from grocery shopping, to activity arranging, to spotting sloths in the trees above. His wife (Katia) and mother (Carmen) prepare 3 delicious (and voluminous) meals daily and clean up daily, too (even making the beds and doing the laundry!). Such a luxury, and such a huge help in really getting to enjoy a proper vacation.
The other main advantages of the house...1, the amazing view; 2, the depth and breadth of wildlife that can be seen from its balconies (e.g., monkeys galore; toucans; sloths; iguanas; and many more); 3, the convenient location (just minutes from Manuel Antonio National Park).
A few disadvantages to be aware of, though we are still VERY pleased with our stay overall... 1, the swimming pool is on the back side of the house, away from the main view of the sea/landscape below; 2, the common area (living/dining room) is not air conditioned (though the bedrooms all have units for bedtime); 3, the last 500 meters approaching the house are rough and definitely require a 4x4 vehicle; 4, the layout of the rooms may not accommodate all types of families/groups (i.e., in the main house, there are 2 bedrooms on the ground floor, by the kitchen/dining areas and 1 master bedroom upstairs; there is also one room with a separate entrance from the outside just below the living room area; the guest house is one larger space with a futon that can sleep 1 or 2, and there is an extra room around the back of it with a separate entrance as well).
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this property!!!
Cannot say enough about the spacious, well-maintained villa; the gorgeous ocean view; the large, clean pool; the convenient location near anything you might want to do in Costa Rica; the great meals; the excellent staff; or the perfect place for relaxation and fun. The staff was superb with daily laundering, cleaning, meals and setting up all tours, transportation and excursions. Cool breezes during the day, and air conditioned bedrooms at night. Don't miss this adventure.
Best vacation ever! Staff was very welcoming and attentive. The staff prepared all are meals and help setup excursions. Villa La Macha property is your own private resort with breathtaking oceanfront view and large pool. Every room here is amazing so clean well maintained. Air-conditioning in every room was amazing. Great for Large Groups and for few friends. Ask for Yuca Frita it was so good we ate it 3 nights in a row. Hora is your personal concierge, he is so friendly and makes you feel at home. Definitely coming back here soon. Paradise.
Our stay at Villa la Mancha was, in general, a positive experience. The proprerty is large and easily accommodated our two families. Jota, the caretaker, and his wife and mother (mother-in-law?) were wonderful hosts. They were very solicitous and welcoming. The food was delicious, healthy and plentiful.
Villa la Manch is located within a few miles of Manuel Antonio National Park but, for all intents and purposes, it might as well be part of the park. All sort of wildlife abounds around the house (and sometimes inside the house, but more on that later...). We saw three species of monkeys, sloths, iguanas, and all types of birds daily. The spider monkeys were a particular delight and will eat food out of your hand if you like.
The house also has a semi-private beach. The beach is extraordinary and when you come upon it, you feel as though you have discovered virgin land. The path to the beach is a little tricky. At times, it is very steep and uneven, at times even calling it a path is a stretch.
The big surprise for us is that the main house is not air-conditioned which made afternoons, evenings and nighttime uncomfortable at times. The hot water shut off frequently, most likely due to a underpowered circuit breaker. Two of the main fans do not work properly (which also contributed to the sultry days and nights).
The other issue is that the house is really open to the elements, in particular the upstairs main bathroom which lacks the better part of two walls. Some might like communing with nature in the buff, others not so much...
The house has million dollar views. Our favorite time was early in the morning, around 630 am when it was still cool and the animals were beginning to stir. Looking out on the second floor porch, the rainforest and its inhabitents unfold below you and the ocean goes on forever.
I had never been out of the country so I was a little hesitant to go to Costa Rica....but it was absolutely amazing! I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable! There is so much to do but if you want to relax and just embrace the beautiful country....this is the place! Jota, Katia and Carmen are wonderful! Every meal we had was delicious! The villa was always very clean and always had fresh towels. Jota helped us book our activities like zip lining, hiking and anything else you can think of! The beach is amazing! It's about a 15 minute hike down to your own personal beach! There are plenty of beautiful beaches around all within a 10 minute drive!
I have to say my favorite part (including my kids) was the monkeys! They are so sweet and adorable! They came to visit about 4-5 times while we were there. We also saw toucans in the morning! You can't find that kind of experience anywhere!
We can not wait to go back!!!
Wildlife viewing at the house and in the national park (monkeys, sloths, etc), canopy tours, surfing and surf lessons, whitewater rafting, zip lines, stunning beaches with warm water, world-class sport fishing, many restaurants, snorkling and diving, Spanish lessons, spa services, Golf is one hour away
