Overview

El Cerro Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa, 6 Air Conditioned Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 6 Baths, (Sleeps 8-16)

Welcome to our Manuel Antonio home, a fully-staffed, 6-bedroom, 6-bath luxury Villa and Guest House in an unusually private and beautiful setting bordering the 50-meter Maritime Protection Zone. The Villa and Guest House are perched high above the Pacific, with ever present sea breezes and sounds of surf crashing below. Our beach (Playa la Macha), which is usually deserted, is a 15-minute hike from the Villa. Ours is the only residence in Manuel Antonio with a cove all to itself and one of the few close enough to the water to hear the surf crashing against the rocks.

The views of the ocean and sunset from the Villa are breathtaking. Wildlife and tropical flowers abound on our property and in the surrounding rainforest. Monkeys, countless birds, and an occasional sloth are regular visitors to nearby trees and are easily spotted from the Villa or our terraces and swimming pool.

The house is of the finest construction in teak, cedar, almond, and terra cotta, all sited in beautiful landscaped grounds. Each bedroom has a view, a king bed and it's own bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have their own living areas, in addition to the bright and breezy main living space.

Villa La Macha is located in one of Costa Rica's most beautiful coastal areas, Quepos and Manuel Antonio. An almost endless string of secluded coves and tropical beaches and the charming, well-supplied town of Quepos are minutes away. Five miles down the road is a jewel of this ecologically sensitive country, Manuel Antonio National Park. The waters offshore offer some of the best marlin and sailfish sport fishing in the world. Villa La Macha is handsomely furnished in teak furniture and original artworks and provides a beautiful home for families, small wedding parties, and groups of friends to share.

We have added all the amenities you could want for a perfect vacation, including fine sheets, towels and china, our favorite spa shampoos and soaps, a Bose Wave stereo, Satellite TV, Wi-Fi and high speed internet, two phone lines, a library of 150 of our favorite books, and a booklet recommending for our guests our favorite restaurants, beaches, masseuses, fishing charters, white water river trips, surf spots, surf instructors, zip lines, hikes, nightspots, spanish tutors, and nannies.

Beautiful view, excellent vacation

  • 5 of 5

Cannot say enough about the spacious, well-maintained villa; the gorgeous ocean view; the large, clean pool; the convenient location near anything you might want to do in Costa Rica; the great meals; the excellent staff; or the perfect place for relaxation and fun. The staff was superb with daily laundering, cleaning, meals and setting up all tours, transportation and excursions. Cool breezes during the day, and air conditioned bedrooms at night. Don't miss this adventure.

Best vacation ever! Staff was very welcoming and attentive. The staff prepared all are meals and help setup excursions. Villa La Macha property is your own private resort with breathtaking oceanfront view and large pool. Every room here is amazing so clean well maintained. Air-conditioning in every room was amazing. Great for Large Groups and for few friends. Ask for Yuca Frita it was so good we ate it 3 nights in a row. Hora is your personal concierge, he is so friendly and makes you feel at home. Definitely coming back here soon. Paradise.

Villa la Mancha

  • 4 of 5

Our stay at Villa la Mancha was, in general, a positive experience. The proprerty is large and easily accommodated our two families. Jota, the caretaker, and his wife and mother (mother-in-law?) were wonderful hosts. They were very solicitous and welcoming. The food was delicious, healthy and plentiful.

Villa la Manch is located within a few miles of Manuel Antonio National Park but, for all intents and purposes, it might as well be part of the park. All sort of wildlife abounds around the house (and sometimes inside the house, but more on that later...). We saw three species of monkeys, sloths, iguanas, and all types of birds daily. The spider monkeys were a particular delight and will eat food out of your hand if you like.

The house also has a semi-private beach. The beach is extraordinary and when you come upon it, you feel as though you have discovered virgin land. The path to the beach is a little tricky. At times, it is very steep and uneven, at times even calling it a path is a stretch.

The big surprise for us is that the main house is not air-conditioned which made afternoons, evenings and nighttime uncomfortable at times. The hot water shut off frequently, most likely due to a underpowered circuit breaker. Two of the main fans do not work properly (which also contributed to the sultry days and nights).

The other issue is that the house is really open to the elements, in particular the upstairs main bathroom which lacks the better part of two walls. Some might like communing with nature in the buff, others not so much...

The house has million dollar views. Our favorite time was early in the morning, around 630 am when it was still cool and the animals were beginning to stir. Looking out on the second floor porch, the rainforest and its inhabitents unfold below you and the ocean goes on forever.

Owner's Response: Costa Rica has an average temperature of 85 degrees, our home is within the rainforest making it a very tropical climate. It usually takes a few days for guests to acclimate to the climate, especially if they are coming from a much colder area. The beauty of Villa la Macha lies with not only the breathtaking views but also the animals who call it their home. At first, the "jungle" noises might startle you but I can promise you it is one of the things you miss when you return home! Our master bathroom is open air, just as our description of the property states, but it is enclosed enough to maintain your privacy while showering, etc. Our staff take their jobs seriously and want to ensure our guests have a trip of a lifetime. They have lived in the area their entire lives and have inside knowledge of which companies to book excursions through, As our description states the house, as a whole, did not have a/c, but we have recently installed air conditioning in all 6 bedrooms. We have a total of 4 King size beds and 2 Queen size beds, a full size sleeper sofa and an additional full size futon. While internet speed is not the same as in the U.S., we do have the fastest internet that is possible in Costa Rica and successfully use VOIP phones and computers while we are there 2 weeks out of every month. The only problem we are aware of with the circuit breaker and hot water was when every hot water valve inside and outside of the home was turned on and left on at the same time. We have personally had a group that consisted of 8 teenagers and 5 adults and never lost electricity or hot water.

The Best Vacation Ever!

  • 5 of 5

I had never been out of the country so I was a little hesitant to go to Costa Rica....but it was absolutely amazing! I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable! There is so much to do but if you want to relax and just embrace the beautiful country....this is the place! Jota, Katia and Carmen are wonderful! Every meal we had was delicious! The villa was always very clean and always had fresh towels. Jota helped us book our activities like zip lining, hiking and anything else you can think of! The beach is amazing! It's about a 15 minute hike down to your own personal beach! There are plenty of beautiful beaches around all within a 10 minute drive!

I have to say my favorite part (including my kids) was the monkeys! They are so sweet and adorable! They came to visit about 4-5 times while we were there. We also saw toucans in the morning! You can't find that kind of experience anywhere!

We can not wait to go back!!!

BEST vacation to date!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great vacation @ this beautiful home. The layout was perfect for our two families (6 kids, 4 adults). The setting was incredibly peaceful, beautiful and convenient. We so appreciated the cleanliness and comfort of the home. Our families switched rooms mid-week so that everyone could enjoy the benefits of each room! We took full advantage of the pool. We had Katia and Carmen cook for us and we were so glad - they accommodated even the pickiest eater (me - vegetarian) and were kind and gracious. We LOVED our trip to Costa Rica! I highly recommend this property.

Can't say enough!

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent time at Villa La Macha - what a magical place to enjoy time with friends (3 families of 4; children teenaged). Not one complaint from adult or child. I was skeptical of the description and pictures on this site but was pleasantly surprised to find it all accurate! The house is impeccably kept, the staff is incredibly attentive, the prepared food delicious (in fact, I'm still trying to get Kathia's recipe for salsa and guacamole that we requested each day!), and the setting was just beautiful. We enjoyed days of activity (hiking in Manual Antonio Park, hiking down to Playa la Macha, catamaran/snorkeling trip, canopy zipline tour, ATV tour, and whitewater rafting). In the afternoons, we would return home to a beautiful sunset , a wonderful meal and an evening of relaxing in the pool or enjoying movies. The house had it all and we are already planning a return trip to Villa La Macha!
