About the property

Villa, 6 Air Conditioned Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 6 Baths, (Sleeps 8-16)

Welcome to our Manuel Antonio home, a fully-staffed, 6-bedroom, 6-bath luxury Villa and Guest House in an unusually private and beautiful setting bordering the 50-meter Maritime Protection Zone. The Villa and Guest House are perched high above the Pacific, with ever present sea breezes and sounds of surf crashing below. Our beach (Playa la Macha), which is usually deserted, is a 15-minute hike from the Villa. Ours is the only residence in Manuel Antonio with a cove all to itself and one of the few close enough to the water to hear the surf crashing against the rocks.

The views of the ocean and sunset from the Villa are breathtaking. Wildlife and tropical flowers abound on our property and in the surrounding rainforest. Monkeys, countless birds, and an occasional sloth are regular visitors to nearby trees and are easily spotted from the Villa or our terraces and swimming pool.

The house is of the finest construction in teak, cedar, almond, and terra cotta, all sited in beautiful landscaped grounds. Each bedroom has a view, a king bed and it's own bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have their own living areas, in addition to the bright and breezy main living space.

Villa La Macha is located in one of Costa Rica's most beautiful coastal areas, Quepos and Manuel Antonio. An almost endless string of secluded coves and tropical beaches and the charming, well-supplied town of Quepos are minutes away. Five miles down the road is a jewel of this ecologically sensitive country, Manuel Antonio National Park. The waters offshore offer some of the best marlin and sailfish sport fishing in the world. Villa La Macha is handsomely furnished in teak furniture and original artworks and provides a beautiful home for families, small wedding parties, and groups of friends to share.

We have added all the amenities you could want for a perfect vacation, including fine sheets, towels and china, our favorite spa shampoos and soaps, a I Bose Wave stereo, Satellite TV, Wi-Fi and high speed internet, two phone lines, a library of 150 of our favorite books, and a booklet recommending for our guests our favorite restaurants, beaches, masseuses, fishing charters, white water river trips, surf spots, surf instructors, zip lines, hikes, nightspots, spanish tutors, and nannies. Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a large group of people, which included my 5 year old daughter, and the facilities were perfectly accommodating. The folks who come by the house daily were very helpful lining up our adventures and places to go. They also helped with shopping and cooked great food! We did not need to go to Manuel Antonio park since we saw spider monkeys, white face monkeys, sloths, iguanas, macaws, toucans, and much more from the porch of the house! The route to get there, once above quepos, is a little tough. Once you get off paved roads it gets a little confusing so try and get your route before you go. The 4 wheel drive vehicle was definitely a plus. Overall, i would stay again and would love to stay longer.

Paradise on earth

  • 5 of 5

14 of us (10 adults, 4 kids) rented this beautiful property for a week vacation full of superlatives. The house is splendid, offering great views of the Pacific Ocean, pool and access to a very nice beach about 15 min walk via a trail through the jungle. The house was immaculate, vast, and arranged in such a way that everybody had plenty of space. What made our stay particularly unforgettable was 1) an incredible staff: Jota and his family could not have been more helpful, kind and efficient. Not only did they cook delicious meals, got groceries, cleaned dishes, clothes, and the house, they also attended to any requests and were extremely friendly, shared stories, while being completely unobtrusive. We are so grateful to them. 2) the wildlife of the house was amazing. I'm not sure whether we were particularly lucky or if it usually like this, but we were consistently visited by troops of squirrel monkeys (literally coming to the house), also saw capuchins and howler monkeys, many bird species, and were able to follow the activities of two sloths right before our eyes from the hot tub! Be aware that the paradise was somewhat difficult to access. Very steep and treacherous trail that requires a 4 wheel drive. But so much worth it! We all absolutely loved this place, adults and kids alike.

50th Anniversary Celebration in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My parents celebrated 50 years of marriage by taking 10 of us on a trip of a lifetime in Costa Rica. Villa La Macha was the perfect fit for our family. The open air home made us feel like we were right in the jungle with the sights and sounds...monkeys, lizards, butterflies, raccoons, sloth, and so many more. Jota, the house manager, was the BEST...he met with us every morning to discuss food, what we wanted to do that day, and questions we had. Every excursion he booked for us was excellent and professional. Katia and Evelyn made sure we were well fed and that our rooms were clean and laundry was done. What a treat to have such a lovely staff at the house. All but my parents (in their 70's) walked to the private beach. It is a quite a trek so wear tennis shoes - especially on the way uphill - but worth it! The kids loved playing in the waves. Villa La Macha was the perfect place for our favorite family vacation!

Fabulous House and Fabulous Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Villa La Macha was a great house for our group of 9: 5 adults and 4 teens. The four bedrooms in the main house plus the two in the guest house fit us perfectly. The view upon entrance is stunning and the pool was large enough for all of us to be in it at the same time. I even swam laps one day - short laps, but it was long enough to work! The house is secluded so that you don't feel like you are on top of other homes - in fact, the road to the house is best done with a 4WD vehicle or a high clearance car. You will think you are most definitely on the wrong road and that the house can't possibly be up ahead, but rest assured - it is!

We downloaded the WAZE app and got a wifi hot spot with our rental car - I highly recommend both of these things if you are going to be driving around the area. It worked great! The house comes with the services of Jota, his sister Evelyn and their mother Carmen. I can't say enough about these three. They made excursion reservations, cooked all of our meals, did our shopping, cleaned the house and even did laundry. They were so pleasant to be around and provided us with great information on the area. Evelyn even gave us an impromptu cooking lesson for some yucca pancake snack things. Totally delicious. The house is great, but these three people make it a truly special place to be.

We booked a catamaran tour and a ziplining tour. Skip the catamaran - it wasn't so great, but the ziplining was so fun! I highly recommend it. We drove south to the Nauyaca Falls and hiked in to see them. That was one of the best parts of the trip. The hike down to the beach at the house was rather steep and we arrived at high tide, so there really wasn't a beach to be had. We never went back and instead drove up to the public beach outside Manuel Antonio. The area is fabulous and this house is a gem. I would definitely recommend it to all my friends and would stay there again in a heart beat. We saw a sloth, monkeys and lizards right from our deck. Angela, the owner, was so easy to deal with and helped facilitate prior communication with Jota. He sent us the location directly to the Waze app - which made it easy to find! This is a fabulous house in a really fun place! Definitely book this house.

Amazing experience in Paradise!!

  • 5 of 5

My family just spent the most wonderful vacation at this home in Manuel Antonio. The setting is exactly what is shown and described and exceeded our expectations. So much room and so many beautiful views. The pool area was large and there were views of the ocean on the sunbathing side. The beach below the house is beautiful and the younger people in the group used it but all of us enjoyed the beaches in Manuel Antonio which are just a few miles away which are the best in Costa Rica. The kids boogie boarded and rode horses on the beach. The shops and restaurants are right across the street so you can go to lunch and return to your chairs. We went snorkeling which was not the best but the zip lining was a real adventure!! No need to go to the Rainforest since you are in one at home. Monkeys did come to visit and there was a Sloth in the tree by the house. We did have rain the last day and crabs were all coming up from the beach. They were small but that was eery but normal. The best part was having our own staff! Jota arranged each day and went to the store to get what we needed. We learned a lot about the country and the culture from him. My grand daughter got an ear infection and he contacted a doctor and we were able to get her medicine. The house was sooo clean and the ladies kept it that way and washed our clothes if we wanted it. We mainly lived in bathing suits and cover ups so we brought way too many clothes and used a lot of towels. The meals were delicious and food was abundant!! We ate on the veranda that overlooked the ocean and celebrated two Birthdays and Easter in this ambiance. There were only ten of us and we plan to go again and bring more people. Definitely room for 14! This was definitely a bargain in paradise and the staff were rewarded well by our family!!

Stunning views

  • 5 of 5

This house is not only spacious but beautiful....... the views are amazing and the wildlife surrounds. We had two sloths in our trees, monkeys that visited as well as toucans and two Scarlett McCall's that flew by every day. Jota, the house manager was wonderful. He arranged tours for us and they were all fantastic! Katia and Carmen are wonderful cooks and our meals were outstanding! The house was clean everyday and clothes were washed ....!!! We were a family of 5, three boys and us parents ! The guys are 22,17 and 13 and they had as much fun as we did. The pool is large and lovely to float around in. Yes , the beach has somewhat of a little hike but it was fun to do it. The beach was nice because there were very few people there so it was almost like having a private beach. I can not say enough about this house . Rarely do I repeat a action and stay in the same house but this is one that definitely would go back to! The people all around were friendly and we felt safe at all times . If your even considering going to this part of Costa Rica , I heavily recommend staying at this house . I can't imagine anyone ever being disappointed ...
