Looking for a quiet, yet fun getaway? This is the place to be with tons of activities and possibilities. In the winter you can go to any of the nearby ski resorts such as: Sugar Bowl, Boreal, and Squaw Valley. Have kids? They can play in the snow on the large deck, or even create a sled hill on the side of the house. In the summer, you can bring your boat or jet skis and tie it up to the pier. Have more than one boat? Tie up the boat on our buoy located just out from the pier.
There are many trails nearby where you can take a hike, or even go for a horseback ride. Fishing is great on Donner, you can catch a couple off of the dock each day by just throwing out a line with a worm or some power bait, you can even use a lure from shore. For all who love to gamble, Reno is just a half hour away where there are many casinos. Many golf attractions are nearby as well. For those who are just looking for a quiet getaway, you can make a nice fire in one of the outside chimneys or in the expansive fire place inside. Don't forget about heating up the hot tub and sitting in the snow or in the sun.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005
We bought this wonderful property based upon it being on the lake and on the sunny side of Donner Lake. The sunny side of Donner Lake also provides easier access during the winter months.
Sitting out on large deck enjoying the scenery, wildlife, quiet times, boating and swimming in the clear clean lake. There is a professionally cleaned hot tub located in the same large deck that is situated to enjoy the lake while still maintaining privacy.
The lakehouse is awesome. The views can't be beat. I think the decks were the best part of the house with a grill and hot tub. Fishing was nonexistent from the dock or a boat so that was a disappointment. The beds were a little hard but the kitchen was filled with spices and essentials which was nice. It was lovely to just hang out with our kids for the week. So much to do!
This was the first time here for our annual family gathering. The dock on the lake enabled water sports, and lake fishing. Out the front door and we could be on a bike path. There were numerous options nearby including golf and fly fishing. Also visited shops and beer pubs in Truckee and Tahoe City. The numerous options allowed each of us to "do our own thing" while gathering for the evening together. Greatly enjoyed our stay.
The good, house is really great. Big living room with fabulous view of lake and nice seating area. great dining area and fine kitchen, although a bit small for more than two people at a time and its a flat top stove but certainly adequate. House has one bedroom upstairs three down. TVs in different bedrooms was a great touch. We were 2 teens and 5 adults there was plenty of together and alone space.
Since the house is right of the main road around the lake access was very easy even with heavy snow. However this is the not so good also. We have rented a house in the Donner Lake area for years usually on one of the quiet streets I missed not being able to walk out the front door for an evening walk in the snow. And the houses are right next to each other which was fine in winter.. However taking a hot tub did make up.for that. Concenses was that we would like to return in the summer and again in winter.
Our family had an amazing time paddle boarding, hanging on the beach, and sitting by the camp fire. The house was perfect...very comfortable, to die for location, and nicely appointed. We will definitely be back next year!
This was a great home to visit with friends and family. Right on the water with a great deck and dock over the lake. We plan on returning to the lake every year with friends and family and we will definitely stay at this home again. Highly recommended.
Amazing out door spaces - we hope to return when the weather is warmer . Layout of house and decks/dock means that different activities can be enjoyed at same time.
