Lovely Chalet on the ski slopes, 2 lounges, ski-boot warmers, table football ...

Bedrooms 4
Half Baths2
Property type chalet
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

4 bedroom, 2 bath/shwr rooms, sleeps maximum of 10, self-catering in French Alps

The chalet is one of the best located in the resort and is very well furnished and equipped for self catering. You can walk 200 yards along a woodland path and then join a blue run to start or end your day's skiing without using your car. There is parking for 3 cars next to the chalet. Accommodation comprises 3 bedrooms and a further mezzanine bedroom, two lounges, kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 2 separate WC's, games room with table football, ski room with boot warmers, balcony and garden. Entrance is via the ground floor heated ski-room, and then up to the 1st floor where we have 2 lounges - one open plan with the kitchen and a separate TV lounge for the children, along with a bathroom / WC and separate WC. On the second floor we have two bedrooms (both with double beds), a shower room and another separate WC, the mezzanine bedroom area with 2 singles and the fourth bedroom with 2 bunk- beds and two single beds (usually for the children). The village centre is 15 minutes walk down the road, there is a free ski-bus that stops 100 yds from the chalet and we are very close to the ski schools.

The Village: Les Gets is as little as 7 or 8 hours drive from Calais, all on motorways except for the last 25 miles or one hours drive from Geneva Airport. The skiing links into Morzine and Avoriaz (2400 metres) directly. It is part of the largest international linked ski area in the world with 420 miles of pistes spread across 12 linked resorts. The area is suitable for all levels of skiers including beginners. The village has 2 French ski schools and the British Alpine Ski School. The night life is friendly and relaxed with many English speaking shops, restaurants, bars and discos and an indoor swimming pool, outdoor skating rink, health & fitness centre and cinema if you don't ski.

Summer: Walking Alpine trails and mountain biking are probably the top summer attractions in Les Gets but you can also use the 18-hole golf course at 1700 meters high, a swimming lake and water park, play tennis or go horse riding. Archery is possible, along with white water rafting, rock-climbing or paragliding if you're bored. Many people take day trips to Annecy which is beautiful or to Evian and Lac Leman (lake Geneva) less than 30 minutes away. There is also a superb new adventure park built in the forest for adults and children to swing from tree to tree on wires

The TV in the children's lounge has English FreeSat TV and a DVD player for English format DVDs only, bring your favorites with you. The TV in the main lounge has English satellite TV and radio too, and does not pick up local French broadcast TV. The fridge incorporates a good-sized freezer compartment. The linen is provided at an extra cost of £5 per person for the week or you can bring your own; also please note we do not supply towels - you must bring your own. Like many French ski villages, the local Marie charges a tourist tax of, currently, E0.90 per adult over 16 per day, which we are obliged to collect.

Lovely chalet, perfect place to spend Christmas

  • 5 of 5

There were 10 of us staying here, some beginners and some experienced skiers. Having two living rooms was brilliant as we could watch tv in one whilst other played games or chatted. Despite there not being much snow (only one run was open) everyone had a great time. The ski bus was very regular, ski hire could be left in the village over night so there wasn't too much lugging stuff about. I would highly recommend it!

Snug, well equipped chalet close to the resort

  • 5 of 5

We stayed as 2 families over the February half term. The chalet is a 15 minutes walk from the center and was nice and quiet. We did the road walk down as there was so much snow on the first few days that we couldn't find the path - the road down was easy and most drivers were slow on their approach. It was good to be away from the slopes with the young children in the evening time. We never manged to catch the bus in the morning but did use it on our return journey as the walk back is too much with children. The buses are totally irregular so sometimes you just wait. The chalet had a very well equipped kitchen and having two sitting rooms was a huge bonus, as was the three toilets. Noise did travel and those sleeping in the mezzanine part were disturbed the most with chatting form the downstairs. The rooms were snug and homely, not over sized but compact. Our initial view was that it was a little small but over the week everyone settled in nicely and the layout worked well. It was great having a place to leave skis and boots before entering the main part of the chalet. The warmth in the chalet helped dry clothes overnight and the dishwasher and washing machine were a great welcome. Both were silent so even in the kitchen/dining area did not cause any disturbance. Stuart was remarkably helpful and extremely knowledgeable and made the whole planning experience so much easier and gave us a great sense of security in booking with him. Thank you as this reduced concerns and worries that you just don't need when traveling with children. I would happily recommend this chalet, slightly further out than some but has everything you need.

Well located and very well heated Chalet for 10.

  • 4 of 5

The chalet is very well ,located with almost direct access to the piste and on a regular bus route either up to a lift or down to the town and main lifts. Great access to the pistes. Chalet was very well heated and had ample hot water for 8 staying for the week. The owners communication and useful paperwork was excellent. All in all a good Chalet and one which I will probably use again. Thanks.

Excellent accommodation

  • 5 of 5

This chalet is perfect for 2/3 families we were a party of 8 adults and 2 very excited kids. Like being home from home with dishwasher and washing machine, very useful. The 2 lounges were great, but the kids bagged the large telly for their play station. Bedrooms were plenty big enough and with 3 toilets you never had to cross your legs. It was always lovely and warm in the chalet. Beautiful views.Stewart was great to deal with giving plenty of advice on where to go. Would recommend this chalet and the area is definitely cheaper than Courchevel with just as good skiing. Bus was bit laid back time wise, but you could walk down even with a grizzly 7 year old in about 15 minutes. The village was great with plenty of places to eat, but booking may be advised, the medical centre in Les Gets was very efficient(rather not have found that out). 10 out of 10 Thank you Stewart. Nearest Airport
56 Kilometres

The chalet is situated on the main ski slope of the village, the Chavannes slope, just above the town.

Ski: Les Gets is an excellent family ski resort: closeby beginners can learn on the easy slopes while there is plenty of great skiing for the experienced in the local area and some really challenging runs like the 'Swiss Wall' easily accessible too.

Our chalet is close to the main Ski schools and to the creche facilities so it is easy to drop your children off before going skiing yourself.
