Horizons Cottage on St. John is located on the quiet, breezy southeast end of the island with fantastic vistas of the sea & the British Virgin Islands, this 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath cottage can sleep 6. With a wrap around deck on the main floor, you can always find shade and a wind free place to sit and enjoy the views. Enjoy the enchanting sunrise & moon rise views over the sea from the downstairs deck. Fall asleep to the sounds of tree frogs & gentle waves.

Inside, Horizons is a very comfortable, fully tiled open floor plan home with high speed wireless internet, smart TV with Netflix. There are lots of books and games as well. Great location near Salt Pond Bay, Lameshur beaches and National Park land.

Please note the "chair railing" around the upstairs deck. I do not recommend Horizons for families with young or daredevil children !

About Susan

The reason I don't take credit cards is it saves us both money! I've been renting my homes since 2004 and am trusted by all that know me. I like to have personal conversations with each guest... Not the animated replies homeaway wants me to do.

This photo is Glenn and me in Hurricane Hole where we found this crab in a conch shell in May.

I fell in love with St. John when I was in college. I told my mother I was going to live here when my kids graduated from college...and I do!

Susan purchased this house in 2002

Why Susan chose Coral Bay

The views are unbelievable, hearing the waves, seeing all the boats that comes in and out of Coral Bay and around the BVI. Watching the rains and other weather move through the area... The house felt like "home " right away. Private, quiet...

What makes this house unique

I've been mentioning some of the benefits above:) I'm also on the east side of the island, where the trade winds come from. It's usually windy and always much cooler than most locations on island. I'm near the end of a dead end road on the far side of the island. National Park land is all around, Salt Pond Bay is 1/2 mile away and Lameshur bays are 1-2 miles away. Did I mention the views? Everyone asks why I don't have better photos as they don't do the views justice. I've asked them to try!!! You have to see the views in person to feel the vastness

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were lucky enough to stay on St. John for two and a half weeks for our honeymoon. During that time, we stayed in three villas. One near Cruz Bay, one near Fish Bay and the third was Horizons Cottage near Coral Bay.

Horizons had the nicest views hands down, more "goodies", most comfortable bed and was the least expensive of all the places we stayed! What a great deal.

Horizons Cottage is in a cute little neighborhood with a lunch restaurant/bar (The Tourist Trap-good food!) within walking distance..and a "real" dinner restaurant also around the corner at Concordia. You can also walk to Salt Pond Bay, my favorite snorkel spot on St. John.

We will definitely be back to Horizons. Now I see why you're booked so quickly in season! Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

We are located on the quiet south east side of the island where the tradewinds blow year round keeping it cool and mosquito free. With Salt Pond Bay and Lameshur Bays within a mile, you won't have to go far to get some of the best snorkeling on the island on secluded beaches. The National Park land is near with lots of hiking trails. We look down on John's Folly Bay and the mouth of Coral Bay with views of the open ocean and lots of the British Virgin Islands.

Other Activities: power boating, kayaking

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Horizons Cottage during late July. The cottage is spacious (2.5 bathrooms!) and extremely comfortable. My husband and I had plenty of room to spread out, but two couples would have ample space. Best of all are the decks (on two levels) with phenomenal views of the sea and distant islands. Spectacular sunsets and sunrises! The ocean breezes were constant and cooling--making air conditioning totally unnecessary. The beds are comfy and two bathrooms have delightful indoor/outdoor showers. The cottage is perched on a hillside (like most cottages on St. John) so walking to the beach is difficult--but with a rental jeep one can travel to many gorgeous beaches nearby. St. John is all about being in the water. We had fun snorkeling with sea turtles, rays, squid and beautiful fishes. And do not miss the opportunity to snorkel in the mangroves! A fascinating experience. There are several small restaurants in the Coral Bay vicinity. Highly recommend Miss Lucy's (delicious Caribbean food) and a new restaurant called Wok on the Beach (tropical fare with an Asian bent) in the Isola Building. We are home now, back to the rat race--but I feel happy and relaxed whenever I picture the beautiful blue waters of St. John in my mind--especially the view from those decks!

Paradise!!!! Our new home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Gorgeous home, well maintained. The moment we walked in my family was blown away! Everything you need to have a fabulous vacation. Kitchen had all appliances and tools to cook a great meal. The bedrooms are comfortable with large windows that bring in a tropical breeze all the time and the views are surreal! We felt like we were living in a screen saver! Large and comfortable, great location, close to all the beaches and trails, about 25 minutes from Cruz Bay. We cried when we left, and are already planning our return. This is a can't loose vacation spot!

Sue was a available at a moments notice, very attentive to any and all needs and questions. She is simply the best hostess!!

Could not have been more perfect!

  • 5 of 5

I had major surgery March 2015 and after recoup I needed desperatly to get away, go somewhere peaceful and beautiful both for my spirit and as my first trip as a healthy person again. Due to circumstances the only dates I could travel was in August! I can not tell you how hesitant I was, August heat, bugs and on and on.. When I heard Horizons did not have AC I had my reservations. and almost did not book. Thankfully I did! Horizons is built on the side of a mountain over looking the sea with row upon row of open windows . The trade winds blew directly into the house 24/7 providing the most natural A/C I have ever experienced. Never a moment of discomfort, never a moment or regret. For those considering off season rental, go for it! the island is quite, the house is perfect, and the trades are blowing.

thank You Sue

Sweet breezes and spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing stay we had at this place. Being urban dwellers we especially appreciated the outdoor decks on both floors that boasts quite an impressive view. The house itself is well equipped and nicely set up so we felt right at home. As someone who is adverse to air conditioning the air circulation in this place is really wonderful that you do not need AC even in what they consider the hottest month here. I would highly recommend this place!
