Our cottage is located on the beautiful north shore of Maui 12 miles from the Kahului Airport. We have a 2-acre estate which is totally fenced in and sits on top of the hill with ocean views and the islands of Maui and Molokai on the horizon.
The cottage has a full kitchen, high speed wireless internet, washer-dryer, phone, TV/VCR, and sleeps 2-5 people depending on your wishes. There is a large master bedroom with a king size bed and a very comfortable foam futon couch in the living room. The other bedroom with a full size bed is on the front porch and has a separate entrance. This cottage is very private, clean and comfortable.
The property abounds with coconut, bananas, avocados, limes, grapefruit, papayas, lychee, mangoes, coffee, guava, lemons, and passion fruit. There is an acre and a half of open lawn to relax on or for children to enjoy.
Haiku is the old pineapple center of Maui, and they are still grown in nearby fields. There are many shops and and excellent restaurants close by.
There is usually a breeze blowing and the temperature gets down to 70 at night and up to around 80 in the daytime.
Gregg and Danielle have lived in Hawaii since they were 18. Gregg is a retired jeweler/gem dealer who now is a glass bead artist. Danielle spends her time growing orchids and tropical flowers on their property. Gregg is a classic car guy and there is always something interesting in his garage. He has a 1964 Shelby 289 Cobra and a 1959 Porsche Carrera Speedster. Guests may want to ask him for a ride.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 1988
Haiku is all about open space and cool ocean breezes. We are both water people and need to be close to the beach. Maui's historical past is still alive in Haiku, a great alternative to the resort area on the other side of the island.
We enjoy avocados, coconuts, lemons, limes, oranges, papayas, jackfruit, coffee beans, and more. We also grow many tropical flowers and orchids. You will feel like it's your own home every time you come up the palm lined driveway.
We loved our stay in the little 'Banana Cottage' at the back of the property! The solitude and lushness of the setting exceeded our expectations. Avacados, oranges and coffee plants are within view of the doorstep. The cottage was simple but met our needs. The location has the best of both worlds; cool nights in a tropical rain garden but minutes away from warm beaches and the funky towns of Haiku and Paia. Coffee and goodies are just steps up the hill at 'Baked on Maui'. Gregg was a gracious host, always available but never intrusive. We would love to go back!

We loved the Maui dream cottage! The location was minutes from Paia and many beaches. The town itself has eclectic shops and excellent dining choices.
The cottage is spacious and the kitchen is equipped with anything for cooking you may need. The beds are comfy and the convenience of a washer and dryer was nice. Last but not least the cool Hawaiian breeze making air con unnecessary. Also our gracious hosts,Gregg and Danielle were nearby if we needed anything. The property is like a private garden oasis. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! If you are looking for cool, comfortable and private you will love the Maui dream cottage!
Quiet, relaxed cottage surrounded by tropical garden. Easy access to up country, Hana, Haiku and Paia towns and beaches. Clean and comfortable. Description of property and cottage accurate. Excellent local food in area. We were fortunate to be in area during Aloha Classic masters wind surfing competition. Would highly recommend visiting then!
What a great cottage, located away from the hustle and bustle of the resort scene. We stayed here for 7 days in October. Situated about a 25 minute drive east of the airport the cottage is co-located on a large property with the main house, but you feel totally isolated from the main house. The property is home to various fruit trees and other indigenous plants. The cottage has 2 bedrooms (one is accessed from outside), a full kitchen, bath w/shower, living/dining room, laundry is on the back porch. It also comes with wifi. Both the kitchen and bathroom were well stocked with all amenities. The only issue we had, while the owners were off island, we lost power briefly, and the wireless router did not reset. So, until the owners returned we were "incommunicado". Which was actually a nice thing.
The cottage is located 1/2 mile off the Hana highway, which makes for a shorter drive to Hana. It is also relatively close to Haleakala Crater. The small community of Haiku has several good restaurants as does Makawao, a short drive away.
Greg and Danielle were great hosts, ensuring everything was perfect and sharing this gem with us. For that we are grateful. When we return to Maui, this will be where we stay again.
Mid-September my wife and I spent a week in this tucked-away-tropical paradise, and those 7 days flew by so fast we had to check the calendar twice just to be sure. Greg and Danielle unselfishly share this immaculately manicured property, so it really felt like our own. The grounds are full of every tree and plant that you would hope to find (I'm looking at you - Fan Palm), and the lawn does feature an ocean view. The cottage was large and comfortable, and we especially loved the front room, which makes you feel as if you on the front lawn. It is very peaceful there.
You can get a head start on the Hana Highway crowd too. Start at Baked in Maui and then head east. But don't turn around in Hana - keep going and find your reward on the south side of the island.
Thank you Greg and Danielle, we would surely come back....Mahalo, Thomas and Janice
