Private Escape Tucked Away in Texas Hill Country

Bedrooms 3
Space 2,800 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 6

Under new management that attends to every small detail, our vacation home sits on just over ten acres of land in the heart of beautiful Texas Hill Country. Removed from the sound and light of the city and even separated from the small road you arrive on by a charming long driveway, this three bed, two full bath home sleeps 6 comfortably.

While we do enjoy all the luxuries that come with electricity, the property is otherwise off the grid. Rainwater easily supports the home and is so pleasant - not salty, hard or full of heavy metals like the tap we are used to. Extra bonus is your hair and skin will be super soft! The pool and hot tub are picturesque, set in a natural stone deck that feels like a simple extension of the surrounding countryside. Both are serviced weekly and maintained to the highest standard.

The outside covered pavilion is complete with flat screen television, fireplace, seating and dining area. Inside you will find all of the conveniences - powerful central A/C, washer and dryer, and ultra fast wireless internet, to name a few. The master bedroom has a king bed and private bath, and there are queen beds in each of the other two bedrooms.

True appreciation of this little part of the world is inevitable with the amazing sunsets overlooking the hill country, and all of the bright stars that blanket the night sky. Our homestead has a storied history, including visits by President LBJ when only the outdoor pavilion and hunting lodge stood on the grounds (built in the 1920s and 1940s, respectively).

The property has since undergone a face lift with an extensive renovation and addition in 1997. It is a truly special place, surrounded by untouched land. You will hear birds singing, glimpse white tail deer foraging and truly reconnect with nature, achieving a relaxed mindfulness that will leave you floating all the way home.

this is the place to stay in TEXAS HILL COUNTRY

  • 5 of 5

What can I say but this is the home to rent and make your Headquarters for your visit to Hill Country! The home is high atop a hill in the Sunset Canyon area, one of the nicest sections of Dripping Springs, or Dripp'in if you live in the area.

The house is roomy, nicely decorated, well appointed, clean, quite, lot's of wild life to enjoy!

The Master suite and bath are huge and the bed is to die for. My husband and I are going to buy this same mattress for our home. Best sleep we have had in awhile

There are books for reading and to learn about local places to see and go, games, pool floats, padded patio furniture, wood for the fireplaces these folks thought of it all.

And you are not far off Hwy 290 which is convenient when setting out for those day trips across Hill Country.

You are close to the best cities and places to eat and party in Hill Country. Nutty Browns, Salt Lick BBQ, The Oasis, Oak Creek Cafe (Dripping Springs) Wineries and of course Austin, Luckenbach Frederickberg and if you have the time a day trip to San Antonio, maybe an hour away!

Grocery and convenience stores, (farmers market in the summer months), all close by.

My only complaint is..............we sould not stay longer ;)

We will be back in the near future, and next time I plan to take more time to relax and enjoy the countryside instead of running around to wedding events!

And the owners are wonderful. They are quick to respond, and pleasant!

One more comment, this is the 2nd home we have rented from HomeAway. The last one was in Tombstone, AZ. It too was a fantastic home to rent. HomeAway is our newest Travel Accomodations website!

I could go on, but you might miss an opportunity to rent this wonderful retreat!

very nice location but need some updates

  • 4 of 5

The house, the pool and the view are perfect for a stay in the hill country.

On the downside, we were not able to make the spa work, we tried to contact the owner, left a voicemail but no call back. The instructions that can be found in the house need some updates. We called the "property manager" as per the instructions and were told they stopped working for the owner 18 months ago. At that level of price, we expect a better service.

Always amazing

  • 5 of 5

Once again had a wonderful time. We've been coming to this place for 8 years and we never tire of it. One new experience was to book a massage out on the patio under the trees. Maria was great - you can get the contact info from the owner.

We'll be back- again, and again.

Beautiful views, home and perfect location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I visit the Austin area on a regular basis to get together with our Austin based daughters. We prefer renting through a Vrbo type service rather than at a hotel, and almost always do. Since this rental had extra bedrooms, our daughters joined us for the weekend. Rarely are we disapponted with our choice, and this rental was a true delight. We absolutely loved it - even better than the photos, and well worth the price of rental. Some minor fixes are needed to the pool (a good scrub?) and hot tub (one side of jets would not work, and we couldn't figure out how to turn the light on). The kitchen was stocked with cooking and serving supplies, and we especially enjoyed the outdoor living room area and viewing cliff seating. We stocked the frig on the day of arrival, and although we did venture out for a couple rounds of golf, We felt no desire or need to leave the property for any other reason. Dripping Springs is an ideal location for access to the city and other parts of the Hill Country. We look forward to another stay.

Beautiful home with amazing views. Great for group

  • 5 of 5

This home was fantastic-clean, spacious, unlimited seating options, beautiful views and amazing sunsets. The property is amazing and I'd definitely go back. The kitchen has pots and pans but otherwise is sparse for cooking needs-bring your own baking dishes or plan to only cook on the stove/grill or eat out. Bring your own pool floats. Would be fun for three couples on a football weekend to grill and chill on the patio to watch the games. We loved it an are already talking about when we could come back!!!!!
