this is the place to stay in TEXAS HILL COUNTRY

  • 5 of 5

What can I say but this is the home to rent and make your Headquarters for your visit to Hill Country! The home is high atop a hill in the Sunset Canyon area, one of the nicest sections of Dripping Springs, or Dripp'in if you live in the area.

The house is roomy, nicely decorated, well appointed, clean, quite, lot's of wild life to enjoy!

The Master suite and bath are huge and the bed is to die for. My husband and I are going to buy this same mattress for our home. Best sleep we have had in awhile

There are books for reading and to learn about local places to see and go, games, pool floats, padded patio furniture, wood for the fireplaces these folks thought of it all.

And you are not far off Hwy 290 which is convenient when setting out for those day trips across Hill Country.

You are close to the best cities and places to eat and party in Hill Country. Nutty Browns, Salt Lick BBQ, The Oasis, Oak Creek Cafe (Dripping Springs) Wineries and of course Austin, Luckenbach Frederickberg and if you have the time a day trip to San Antonio, maybe an hour away!

Grocery and convenience stores, (farmers market in the summer months), all close by.

My only complaint is..............we sould not stay longer ;)

We will be back in the near future, and next time I plan to take more time to relax and enjoy the countryside instead of running around to wedding events!

And the owners are wonderful. They are quick to respond, and pleasant!

One more comment, this is the 2nd home we have rented from HomeAway. The last one was in Tombstone, AZ. It too was a fantastic home to rent. HomeAway is our newest Travel Accomodations website!

I could go on, but you might miss an opportunity to rent this wonderful retreat!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is great and the pool/outdoor area is fantastic too. The owner and maintenance responded promptly and efficiently to all requests. We will hope to come back soon and definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

Family friendly

Pool was perfect and the kids loved hiking around the grounds. We had two nice evenings grilling out on the amazing patio. Close to Hamilton Pool and Austin. Loved it!

Wonderful summer hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed this hilltop home. The views are spectacular. House gets warm in the day probably because of all the glass which allows views from everywhere. The ice maker was not working but HEB is close. We have been going to the Hill Country for years and family voted this house the best.

Not what it was a year ago

  • 3 of 5

This is such a beautiful property and we had such good memories of it when we stayed in may 2015. We were so saddened to see how run down in general the property was.

For specifics, a new cleaning staff is needed. The counters were dirty as was the floors. The inside of the refrigerator and freezer area had not even been wiped out from previous guest spills. Cobwebs everywhere and droppings of some kind of rodent in several rooms of the house. Bedding was worn and tattered. The homes general temperature read 82 and did not cool down until way into the night. There was not any cookie sheets or baking dishes available.

The outside area, which was beautiful in the past, had not been swept or furniture cleaned off in quite some time. The grounds in general were unkept compared to our previous visit.

Im sure just a little tlc could make a huge difference. It just needs a good cleaning and some love applied in the maintenance of the property to have it back to what it was a year ago.

The pool was great but we had to wait until the next day to be able to use it according to the pool man that was there when we arrived around 4:30.

We would love to come back when some of these things are addressed. It is such a beautiful place and we have such good memories but did not feel comfortable enough to even go barefoot much less letting a 2 year old on the floor.

Great property for a family getaway

  • 4 of 5

First of all, we really enjoyed our stay at this property. The views were amazing and it was very quiet and relaxing. However, I'm subtracting a star for overall cleanliness. The floors and windows hadn't been cleaned in a while and the fridge and freezer could also have use a good scrubbing. Also, beware that the A/C was struggling to keep the house cool. During our stay we had outside temps in the mid 90s during the day and the A/C only managed to keep the house at around 80. Once the sun went down it was slowly able to catch up and eventually got it down into the mid 70s.

I would still recommend this property for its great location if you're looking for a place to get away from it all for a few days while still being reasonably close to some of the great attractions the hill country has to offer.
