Pool and hot tub. Outside covered pavilion complete with flat screen, fireplace, seating and dining area. A/C, Washer and Dryer, sits on 10 acres of land. Wireless internet.
Amazing sunsets overlooking the hill country. The home has a lot of history, including visits by President LBJ when it was just the outdoor pavilion and hunting lodge (built in the 1920s and 1940s, respectively). Renovation and addition in 1997. This is a very special place.
Master with King bed, Queen beds in each of other two bedrooms.
What can I say but this is the home to rent and make your Headquarters for your visit to Hill Country! The home is high atop a hill in the Sunset Canyon area, one of the nicest sections of Dripping Springs, or Dripp'in if you live in the area.
The house is roomy, nicely decorated, well appointed, clean, quite, lot's of wild life to enjoy!
The Master suite and bath are huge and the bed is to die for. My husband and I are going to buy this same mattress for our home. Best sleep we have had in awhile
There are books for reading and to learn about local places to see and go, games, pool floats, padded patio furniture, wood for the fireplaces these folks thought of it all.
And you are not far off Hwy 290 which is convenient when setting out for those day trips across Hill Country.
You are close to the best cities and places to eat and party in Hill Country. Nutty Browns, Salt Lick BBQ, The Oasis, Oak Creek Cafe (Dripping Springs) Wineries and of course Austin, Luckenbach Frederickberg and if you have the time a day trip to San Antonio, maybe an hour away!
Grocery and convenience stores, (farmers market in the summer months), all close by.
My only complaint is..............we sould not stay longer ;)
We will be back in the near future, and next time I plan to take more time to relax and enjoy the countryside instead of running around to wedding events!
And the owners are wonderful. They are quick to respond, and pleasant!
One more comment, this is the 2nd home we have rented from HomeAway. The last one was in Tombstone, AZ. It too was a fantastic home to rent. HomeAway is our newest Travel Accomodations website!
I could go on, but you might miss an opportunity to rent this wonderful retreat!
First of all, we really enjoyed our stay at this property. The views were amazing and it was very quiet and relaxing. However, I'm subtracting a star for overall cleanliness. The floors and windows hadn't been cleaned in a while and the fridge and freezer could also have use a good scrubbing. Also, beware that the A/C was struggling to keep the house cool. During our stay we had outside temps in the mid 90s during the day and the A/C only managed to keep the house at around 80. Once the sun went down it was slowly able to catch up and eventually got it down into the mid 70s.
I would still recommend this property for its great location if you're looking for a place to get away from it all for a few days while still being reasonably close to some of the great attractions the hill country has to offer.
This house has it all. Comfortable and spacious with fantastic outdoor setup. The owner and manager were very accommodating.
We enjoyed our time there and hope to be back soon.
Highly recommend a day trip to Pedernales State Park.

Don't stay here--just don't do it. Our group had an absolutely terrible experience at the property and are now experiencing profound frustrations dealing with the owner.
We arrived to the property around 9 pm one night after traveling in from all across the country. We walked around the property and realized the pool was completely empty. And then, after trying to use the toilet, we discovered there was no running water at all on the property. We contacted the listed property manager, Maria, who said she no longer worked there. They finally sent someone out at midnight to check things out. The woman determined that the cistern on the property was completely empty-- and could not deliver any water until the next morning. We were really surprised and disappointed they didn't offer any short term help...delivering water bottles at the very least so we could brush our teeth.
The home was not particular well-kept or clean. One of the beds had corn kernels all over it.
One of the biggest disappointments was the empty pool. The pool wasn't filled until late on Saturday (we were scheduled to check out early Sunday morning). We chose this property based on the listed amenities. The owner tried to say it would have been too cold to swim in anyways. We are from the Northwest and swim in cold water all the time. And besides, was the pool listed as a seasonal amenity on the listing? Of course not. Also, the hot tub began acting up: a flow-air trouble light came on, indicating the hot tub filter was very unclean.
Now let's speak more about these owners. They have been so incredibly difficult to work with. Jennifer asked us if we had property protection. We thought we did according to our invoice which showed a $49 fee for "property protection". Jennifer told us to contact VRBO to file a claim (even though this is not the responsibility of the traveler). VRBO said we didn't not have the protection plan and that they have no idea what the $49 charge from the owner was for.
The owner said that because the pool would have been too cold to swim in, even if there had been water in it and that they spent an arm and a leg getting water in the cistern "quickly" she thought we shouldn't be asking for any sort of refund. This is just absolutely ludicrous. Stay far away. Sure, this place may be decent if everything goes as planned, but good luck if is doesn't and you are left to deal with Jennifer.
The hill country house was just what we needed. The weather was perfect and we really enjoyed the outdoor patio. It was even cool enough in the evenings to have a fire in the fireplace on the outdoor patio. Pool and hot tub were both awesome! The house is just 3 miles away from Deep Eddy's Vodka Distillery. We went there and had a blast in their picnic area. Overall, a great trip. Couldn't ask for a better getaway.
This rustic but modern house has a magnificent view, beautiful pool, and wonderful gathering spaces. We felt like we were in the country (privacy, deer, quiet mornings and evenings in the pavilion by the outdoor fireplace) and yet were close to shopping and some fun destinations.
The master bedroom is beautifully appointed with a large bathroom (walk-in shower and double vanity). The other two bedrooms are roomy too, with modified Jack-and-Jill access to the second bathroom. The doors are knotty pine - including the bathroom doors. The bedrooms each had ceiling fans, and one bedroom had a floor unit as well - that was a nice amenity.
There are 7 or 8 double doors that can be opened to let the breeze roll through. We had one really warm day and turned the AC on - it kept the house very comfortable.
The kitchen has great appliances. Anything you need for stove top cooking is available. The convection oven was super (take baking sheets and roasting pans if you will need them).
The home alone would stand as a terrific vacation spot. But the centerpiece is truly the old pavilion, with the fireplace, the farmhouse table, and the view. We were dreaming about planning another stay before we went to bed the first night.
Several breweries, wineries and even two vodka distilleries are within a 10 minute drive! Check out Jester King Brewery and grab a pizza at Stanley's Farmhouse Pizza - excellent! Other breweries include Twisted X, Thirsty Planet, Last Stand Brewing. Distilleries: Deep Eddy Vodka, Dripping Springs Vodka Wineries: Bells Springs, Solaro Estate, Driftwood Estate, Duchman Family Winery, Fall Creek Vineyards, Wimberley Valley Winery.
