this is the place to stay in TEXAS HILL COUNTRY

  • 5 of 5

What can I say but this is the home to rent and make your Headquarters for your visit to Hill Country! The home is high atop a hill in the Sunset Canyon area, one of the nicest sections of Dripping Springs, or Dripp'in if you live in the area.

The house is roomy, nicely decorated, well appointed, clean, quite, lot's of wild life to enjoy!

The Master suite and bath are huge and the bed is to die for. My husband and I are going to buy this same mattress for our home. Best sleep we have had in awhile

There are books for reading and to learn about local places to see and go, games, pool floats, padded patio furniture, wood for the fireplaces these folks thought of it all.

And you are not far off Hwy 290 which is convenient when setting out for those day trips across Hill Country.

You are close to the best cities and places to eat and party in Hill Country. Nutty Browns, Salt Lick BBQ, The Oasis, Oak Creek Cafe (Dripping Springs) Wineries and of course Austin, Luckenbach Frederickberg and if you have the time a day trip to San Antonio, maybe an hour away!

Grocery and convenience stores, (farmers market in the summer months), all close by.

My only complaint is..............we sould not stay longer ;)

We will be back in the near future, and next time I plan to take more time to relax and enjoy the countryside instead of running around to wedding events!

And the owners are wonderful. They are quick to respond, and pleasant!

One more comment, this is the 2nd home we have rented from HomeAway. The last one was in Tombstone, AZ. It too was a fantastic home to rent. HomeAway is our newest Travel Accomodations website!

I could go on, but you might miss an opportunity to rent this wonderful retreat!

Beautiful home with amazing views. Great for group

  • 5 of 5

This home was fantastic-clean, spacious, unlimited seating options, beautiful views and amazing sunsets. The property is amazing and I'd definitely go back. The kitchen has pots and pans but otherwise is sparse for cooking needs-bring your own baking dishes or plan to only cook on the stove/grill or eat out. Bring your own pool floats. Would be fun for three couples on a football weekend to grill and chill on the patio to watch the games. We loved it an are already talking about when we could come back!!!!!

Great sunsets, wonderful hammock time, and peaceful

Home is older but has a lot of character

Pool was not ready when we arrived , there was a young man there tending to it but he left the skimmers turned off because the water level was low...the bottom of pool was not cleaned before he left. He never returned and we had company arriving the next day. My husband finally got skimmers to work and it cleared up the pool in time for visitors. My husband called the property manager,Jimmy, and the property owner concerning pool issues. Property manager listed in book on table no longer manages the property due to having a stroke my husband was very embarrassed and apologized several times on the phone

We never received a call back from owners about the pool issue. The pool was one of the huge selling points about the property besides its history glad my husband was able to make it enjoyable for all. Pool was in working order and cleaning when we left today

Home needs some tender loving care with touch up paint, cobwebs along basins, tin roof secured on main part of home, updates to pool and it's bottom. Pool leaks which shows when you are sitting in hammocks looking at the back side of it.

It was understandable to please pick up trash while there but when you walk around the whole porch, pool and open areas and pick up trash that's been there for a bit, that's beyond picking up after yourself

Busted glass from an old table was in a flower bed off pool walkway instead of being picked out of bed and thrown away

Both umbrellas were broke but we managed to use them for some shade on tables

Could it get tv to work in main area of house but did get it in the outside patio and th bedroom

Hot tub was half full so we filled it back up but never got to use it

We bought our own skillets because the ones at home were on really bad shape

Ice maker did not work in the freezer or the one by sink

Glad we brought some extra trash bags because we never found the extra ones at the home

Absolutely beautiful location high and overlooking the rolling hills.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed taking walks every morning and then soaking in the hot tub. The weather was wonderfully cool every evening so we didn't use the pool much, but what a great place to just relax and soak up the sun!

Unfortunately, the house was not very clean when we arrived. We did a thourough sweep of all the floors and washed down tables and countertops before unpacking. But overall, the comfortable rustic charm was perfect for our stay in the hill country.

We had a great time. You really feel that you are in a remote location yet you're not that far from stores and restaurants. We did a lot of cooking and there was room for group efforts! We'd love to come back in the summer and enjoy the pool! The outdoor pavilion was wonderful and we enjoyed time spent out there in front of a fire.
