Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank-you Thanl-you Thank-you! Everything was perfect. You have thought of EVERYTHING to make anyone feel right aat home in "your" home! I had planned on unpacking and going straight to the store to pick up "necessities" - but you had everything we needed already here. The kids were so excited about the "stocked" fridge in the game room! We used the bon fire, the hot tub, and the game room! I couldn't believe you even had a GPS for us to use. (I could have left mine at home) We even had our family come out to visit one day - we were so proud to show off your beautiful home! We especially enjoyed sitting on the front deck in the sunshine. I was so lucky to find your house to rent. Thank you so much for sharing it with our family - I am SO happy we did not end up at a hotel! It was perfect!

Our second visit...

  • 5 of 5

We have returned to Portland and were happy to find the 1908 House available for our use. Thanks again for a wonderful place to make a "base" camp for our Norther adventures. Once again it was stocked to the hilt with all that we could possibly think of. We love your kitchen and the fact that you have included all we need to prepare our meals at the house. And what a great BBQ! We sat by the firepit in the rain! It was just too nice.

See you again in the Spring.

Loved this Home!!!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment I walked in the front of The 1908 House I was in love! Reminded me of my Grandmother's home growing up in Iowa, from the columns with bookcases leading into the dining room to the creaky stairs going to the bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. Not only was this home sweet and adorable it was the most well stocked VRBO rental I have stayed in, plenty of kitchen supplies, spices, etc., the bathrooms were wonderful, great shower downstairs, awesome old deep bathtubs and plenty of towels and the Game room was wonderful with air hockey, foosball table and vintage arcade games. The entire family had a wonderful time hanging out in the amazing back yard.

very charming

  • 5 of 5

I rented this house for my granddaughter and daughters graduation, it was a perfect spot for everyone to gather. This is a gorgeous well preserved home where families can kick off their shoes and relax. Everything is well stocked with notes of where and how to use things. We loved all the quirky charm with modern amenities. The back yard is a plus as well. My grand daughters love the downstairs game room! Very quiet and private. Lovely, charming, roomy and comfortable. Thank you for having my family enjoy a stress free extended weekend in your welcoming home!

The perfect home away from home!!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about The 1908 Craftsman! Lisa was so helpful and accessible and this rental is equipped with everything you could possibly need or want. All of us loved how quiet the neighborhood was and the back yard was perfect for lounging, barbecuing, or star gazing. With a group of 8 adults and 2 small children, we had plenty of room to spread out and the game room was a big hit with everyone. We were there for our daughter's wedding in Aurora on Saturday and rehearsal dinner in NE Portland Friday so it was the perfect midway point. We would highly recommend this property and would love to stay here again!

The most amazing home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This house had so much to offer. We wound up having 10 people at the house and there was plenty of room for everyone. There are little hints and helpful tips everywhere, and beautiful little touches like poems on the chalkboards. The beds were very comfortable, and the house was clean and well kept. Remember that this house was built in 1908 so there are some quirks, which we absolutely loved.

The stairs going up to the third floor are very squeaky, so if you have kids who try to sneak out put them up there!

The yard is absolutely gorgeous and has everything you could need to entertain. We enjoyed both the front and back barbecues and felt like we were in a movie with how beautiful it was. All of the trees and plants were flowering, and there were gorgeous smells all over the place.

The front steps are a bit steep and narrow, so if you have someone with mobility issues have them use the side door.

The basement was the belle of the ball! The kids (both young and old) enjoyed the game consoles, board games, and air hockey, and there were more movies than we ever imagined.

Lisa was very responsive to us before and during our stay. She's the quintessential hostess, and made us feel very welcome.

Basically, if you appreciate a historic house with its charms and quirks, you like a well appointed home (as opposed to a basic sterile hotel), and you want to have FUN, this is a GREAT house. Follow the instructions clearly laid out around the house and you'll have a great time.

The only drawback? This house has ruined us for anything less!! We will most definitely be back!

Thank you, Lisa, for welcome us to your beautiful home!
