There are no other houses within view or near the cabin, nearly last on the lake The country road which goes between the house and the lake goes nowhere for miles and miles and is perfectly safe for bicycling, walking or hiking. Feels like Home,Spectacular Views, great Owner!!!!

  • 5 of 5

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! I have a family of five. We have been coming to this cabin for YEARS. Every time we arrive it feels like home, even my kids say so. The first thing I notice when I enter the home is just how clean it is. It is beyond welcoming....and the owner always leaves us a nice welcome note. He remembers details about us and is sure to make you welcome. If you are considering a rental where you just need to relax and enjoy, this really is the place. I will outline why.

First, the owner is amazing. He was, and is, so prompt in his responses. He has accommodated my family is so many ways. Everything is clear, and I had comfort in knowing exactly what I needed to do. He leaves nothing undone. He is wonderful.

I usually rent one week here and we vacation another week some place else. This last vacation, we hated leaving...and we weren't even close to anticipating our next vacation like we do our week at this cabin. So I contacted the owner THE DAY WE LEFT and asked to book TWO weeks for next year. We love it here.

As a family of five, we go go go constantly and my husband has the most stressful job. On other vacations, my kids heads are in their electronics, and my husband doesn't decompress. Here, while Michael supplies FREE wifi, cable, and anything else you would want, my kids are outside from minute one enjoying the grounds and the private pier and the pond. My husband is more excited than the kids!!!! The owner provides all the water vessels you could ever want, plus life jackets, toys, floats, etc. We are barely unpacked and the kids are canoeing and kayaking.

Michael/Owner THINKS OF EVERYTHING!!!! And if he hasn't and you have a question, he is quick to respond. Michael offers you several options in almost every situation. You don't have to clean the place, he allows you to pay for a service. Honestly though, the place is sooooo easy to clean you don't really need that service. He has everything right there to make it easy. There is a washer and dryer, dishwasher, all the kitchen utensils you could want....I cannot say enough how much we love our stay. I would leave our city life in a minute if this place could be ours.

I have been on both sides of renting. I used to own cottages in Plymouth, MA, and I have rented several places. This place is an AMAZING VALUE. You get so much for what you pay for, a pleasant experience all around.

If you can find a week open, RENT!!!

Great location, clean and comfortable cabin

  • 4 of 5

We travelled from our high desert home to New England in the fall to enjoy the change of seasons and found the cabin served as a comfortable and pleasant home base. The view of the Pond from the cabin is gorgeous. We took daytrips to Rangeley Lakes, Sebago Lake and Mt. Washington, returning to the cabin in time to cook dinner and take an evening stroll. The kitchen was well supplied and functional. We knew there was a coffee maker and expected to find enough coffee, at least for the first morning. However, the cupboard was bare, which necessitated a nighttime drive along an unfamiliar rural road in the dark in a pouring rain to find supplies for morning coffee. Thanks to the Hub in Bethel, whose proprietor even even tossed in a small container of sugar to last for our four mornings. We grocery shopped in Bethel and stopped in at the Gem and Mineral Museum, which was small, but well done. The cabin would be ample for large groups as well, and we certainly enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: I get a "four-star" rating for not supplying coffee? maybe the cream and sugar, too? What next?

Excellent location, beautiful views, very peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Slept like babies every night lulled to sleep by the loons! Our first trip to the place where "the way life should be" and loved every thing about it. Michael, your home was so comfortable and met all our needs. So conveniently located to numerous awesome places. We saw a moose during one of our road trips! Hope to come back one day.

Beautiful house in Beautiful Country!

  • 5 of 5

Can I lie about this house like a fisherman does about his favorite spot so nobody goes there and we will have easier access to it? This was a dream stay for us! Where Do I start? The space. Open floor plans upstairs and downstairs created all types of room. This trip was just my wife, myself and our 40 pound beagle hound mixed dog. We didnt even use the upstairs since there was so much room downstairs. And please believe owner Michael when he says it is fully equipped. 2/3 of our loaded SUV wasnt needed.Food, linen and clothing. Thats all you really need. The main picture shows the porch -very relaxing, and the sun room. We had cool nites on our stay and the sun room was the perfect spot for that wake up coffee with the loons singing in the background. What the pics dont show is seven large windows along the living room, dining table and kitchen giving you an incredible view of the lake, the cliffs across the lake, and the dock. (my wife and dogs favorite spot) Comfortable beds, large bedrooms, Dish TV, WiFi, all the toys for the outdoors person-we had nothing negative to say about his home and absolutely will return with his permission. I'll tell you something else-Michael does not gouge your wallet like many do on these sites. This home is cheaper than most hotels are. With all the extras plus the space! Clean too! So is Twitchell Pond! We went hiking here and nearby, we went on the Bethel chamber of commerce wildlife suggested ride- WE SAW A MOOSE! The house is very close to Grafton Notch State Park and thats a must see in this area!!! What a great time we had there-all 3 of us. Summary- All 3 of us would give this home more than the 5 stars and what Michael has in his details is the truth. Want to add- hes a great communicater. Kept us up to date on everything and this was a no hassle transaction. Thank you, thank you, thank you sir. Will seek more stays in that area in the future, and extra thanks for allowing us to bring our 4 legged dog'ter' All our best- Phil, Mary Ellen and Priya

Superlatively cosy little hideaway

  • 5 of 5

People of the world!

I stayed here with friends & had great, peaceful, fun walking around on nature hikes looking at the lake & mountain views. We were lucky to be able to book last minute. The owner is a sweet guy who was always happy to provide all the ammenities. We want to go back this month to enjoy the autumn foliage.

I think it would be a really romantic place for a honeymoon.

The quaint town of Bethel is located just 6 miles on route 26 where Pubs, grocery stores and all business conveniences are located. Sunday River is just 10 miles away on route 26 then onto route 2, east. There is a 'Big Adventure' water slide, a movie theater, antique stores, cafes, formal and casual dining eateries of all sorts. North Conway and the White Mountains are just minutes away, west on route 2. The area lends itself to hiking, biking, camping, cycling, bird watching and just about any indoor and outdoor activity you will find in Portland. It's a great place to visit.
