About Sari Henley
Hotel Byblos and Casa Sarita owners who enjoy travel, and adventure. We are a relatively active couple who have set our feet as firmly in Manuel Antonio as in Austin, Texas where are kids and grandkids live. Davis is an avid motorcycle rider who rode his BMW from Austin, TX to Ushuaia, Argentina. Sari is content to spend time on the beach, or stay behind with kids and grandkids. She did ride on the back from Santiago, Chili to Ushuaia, and then on to Buenos Aires. Summer finds them in Northern Wisconsin where Sari's family has had a cabin for 65 years.
Sari Henley purchased this Villa in 2014
Why Sari Henley chose Manuel Antonio
Rising Sun is located just five houses down from our beloved Casa Sarita. Davis was drawn to the property which needed an extensive renovation. The views were worth all the hard work he put in from May, 2014 to Christmas, 2014. It has turned out better than we ever dreamed, and we will enjoy our time here and sharing it with our clients.
What makes this Villa unique
Full use of Byblos Hotel is included in all rentals at Rising Sun. The home has two separate buildings, so it is great for family reunions and also weddings. The large deck and bar area above the guest house are perfect for celebrations of any type with fabulous Pacific Views
Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
A Vacation We Will Never Forget!
First of all, I must say, that I am the type that does a ton of research to try to find a beautiful and unique place to stay at a reasonable cost. Rising Sun exceeded my expectations! Chef Kera and John were there upon our arrival and she made us margaritas to have while taking in the amazing view and watch the interaction of the monkeys. Then we each tried to figure out which bedroom we wanted because of their uniqueness. We were then served the most flavorsome meal. We truly felt pampered each time they prepared meals for us. And they grabbed anything we needed at the store that we needed when they were coming over. The new outdoor eating area is amazing and we even had an afternoon of playing games out there during a rainy afternoon. It is easy to get anywhere with a quick call for a taxi and it usually was only a few dollars per person. If you want a day on the beach then have the taxi take you to Mary's rentals. There are lounge chairs with umbrellas and they have drinks, beer, and food you can purchase. We did the zip line tour with Safari Adventures and surfing lessons with Blue Horizon, which you can easily book through Byblos Hotel. We went a few nights to have drinks at the Z Poolside Grill (part of Byblos) and Warner will take great care of you. They will get you a complimentary shuttle to Quepos to their other restaurant at the marina. We did this on Friday night and went to the Farmer's Market also while there. But just being at Rising Sun was what made our 25yr Anniversary a trip of unforgettable memories that we now have with our kids. They even told me not to plan too many excursions because they wanted to just enjoy the house! The owner of the house, Sari, is so easy to work with too! Can't wait to go back!
Everything about it was stunning
We just returned from an amazing spring break trip to Costa Rica and stayed at Rising Sun. It is even more beautiful than the photographs online. We had a group of 10 (2 families) and there was so much space. The beds are comfortable as is the furniture in the living spaces. The pool is amazing and the slide made the trip for the children. I picked this house based on the slide and the pool and it definitely kept everyone entertained. I also was excited about the wildlife that people reported seeing. We saw monkeys everyday. The White faced capuchin monkeys were hanging out multiple times per day eating mangos and playing poolside. day We saw the Titi monkeys and howler monkeys twice. We saw both sloths and the 3 toed sloth went for quite a excursion eating through the trees. The monkey and sloth watching here was better than what we saw during our tour of Manuel Antonio National park. The children also loved the pool table. In addition to the monkeys we saw Toucan and Agouti.
The Hotel Bylbos arranged all our tours and transfers. They also arranged taxi service for us that was very helpful. We had the option to use the hotel facilities but as we were so comfortable at Rising Sun we didn't leave the house much unless we did a tour, My husband walked to the grocery store a couple of times but the grocery store will deliver for a very low cost. We did a Snorkel tour, surfing lessons and a tour of Manuel Antonio. all were excellent. Although we saw the sloths and monkeys better at the house, we saw amazing lizards, frogs and birds on the Manuel Antonio tour and things we would not have noticed without a guide.
Sari checked in with us periodically and although we really had no needs it was nice that she was so accessible. She also contacted me prior to our stay and helped answer questions and this was appreciated. At first we were a little hesitant about having staff come in daily. However with the size of the property, the amount of vegetation that needs to be cleared from the paths and the work to keep the pool clear we soon understood it was necessary. Wiston and Jeannette were professional and unobtrusive. Winston first helped us see the sloths which was great.
In summary staying here is money well spent if you want a truly memorable, comfortable experience in Costa Rica. I couldn't recommend it any more highly.
Spring Break with 3 Families
We loved everything about this house. It was layed out well for 3 families . We never felt crowded. Everyone loved the pool, slide , pool table outside and the ample seating and comfortable furniture.
We loved listening to the howler monkeys from our balcony and spotting the sloth in the tree beside the pool.
We had a chef one night and enjoyed appetizers on the upper deck.
Melissa set up all of our excursions and Winston was around daily to help us with anything. He kept the grounds and pool looking beautiful and Jeanette kept the house in great shape.
The view from the house is beautiful . You feel like you are in the middle of the jungle with no one around even though there are houses close by.
I highly recommend this property and would stay here again if I get a chance to come back. Everyone we dealt with was so nice and helpful!
Twelve family members (ages 12-64) just spent 7 days at this home. It was perfect! The reason I chose this home was because of all the comments about seeing a sloth. This was my goal for this trip! The first day we located a sloth up in the tree at the pool. The next day we saw two of them! They were there all week long! The monkey's joined us morning and most evenings. We also saw a toucan & macaws. We saw more animals sitting around our pool than we did at the Manuel Antonio park! (Side note: we didn't hire a guide which I would advise if you want to see a lot)
We hired Chef Manuele for 3.5 days and that was the best!! Highly recommend him!
Having Hotel Byblos (Melissa) at your service 24/7 is wonderful. I would just text them a question or that we wanted an excursion and they would arrange everything! It was a big perk to have that service. Jeanette (housekeeper) and Winston (maintenence) there everyday to make sure all was taken care of.
One of my favorite things about the home was the amount of different relaxing areas. There was plenty of shade areas & plenty of sun areas. It was perfect for our big group. Everyone could be around the pool area doing their own leisure. The slide was a big hit!
Thank you Sari & Davis for sharing your beautiful home. We continue to fall in love with Costa Rica!
Words can't do it justice!
From the beautiful views, amazing wildlife, impressive amenities and fabulous staff our stay was perfect. We saw a sloth daily, monkeys, parrots, lizards and more. Three families totaling 6 adults and 6 children had plenty of room to spread out actually we had a room to spare. The only draw back would be the stairs for those who are physically impaired. The staff was so helpful from filling the refrigerator before we arrived to booking excursions. None of us wanted to leave. Thank you for making our trip so memorable.
We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay at Rising Sun! The sloth you were referring to is about to give birth, so we look forward to watching the baby grow up while she sticks around. While we know people have other bucket list trips, we’d love to have you back. We finally finished remodeling the pool table/cabana area, and our lower two bedrooms in the guesthouse. It was one whole week of workers , but they finished yesterday!
Everything Absolutely awesome!
We were 3 families, 15 people total ages 14 to 58. Plenty of room, beautiful view and sounds of the ocean and nature. We were visited by cute monkeys. Swimming Pool was so much fun for all and there was an pool table right there too. Melissa at concierge helped with all our activity planning and questions. Winston who was there taking care of pool, gardens and maintenance each day was super friendly and went above and beyond. Maids kept everything pristine. Great location. Thank you so much. Only problem is None of us want to leave. We will be back
We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at Rising Sun. We love our staff as much as you do! We look forward to having you back again.
Rising Sun is located on Pacific Canyon Rim which is a premier private gated community off the main road connecting Quepos and Manuel Antonio Park. The home offers spectacular 180 degree ocean views in a jungle setting and regular visits from a variety of monkey species, yet is only 200 meters walking distance to the majority of the area's upscale dining and amenities, or bus stop. Playa Espadilla, aka Manuel Antonio, is located approximately 1 mile from Rising Sun. Playa Manuel Antonio has been listed as one of the Top Beaches in the World by Fodors, Trip Advisor, and other publications. The smaller, more private beach in the area, Playa Biesanz, is located about 1 mile from Rising Sun on the Mariposa Hotel Road. The Mariposa Hotel is listed in the book 1000 Places to See Before You Die. You'll want to go there for a sunset and check that off the list.
In addition to beaches, we have Canopy tours, sunset sails and dolphin watching with snorkeling, surfing and surfing lessons, sport fishing, horseback riding, jeep waterfall tours, and many more!
