About The Owner

We moved to the Big Island in 1987 and built our home in Captain Cook in1988.

We added our two vacation rentals on our 1 1/4 property in 2000.

We have one dog. His name is Peaberry and he is 8 years old.

Along with a Siamese cat named Mr. Mow, who is 15.

We built the main house and carport.

In 2000 we enclosed the garage and added two units to our 1 acre property.

We loved the large stand of bamboo, so it was a focal point in the design of our two rental units.

To achieve the feel of the outside we built large screened lanai's and double sliders and windows to let in light and the views of water, flora and fauna. However always with privacy in mind. Each unit has its own parking area close to the front door.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2000

Why The Owner chose Captain Cook

This property is in the beautiful coffee belt of Hawaii. Green and lush with beautiful ocean views.

We love the tropical plants and animal life here. Birds and gecko's alike love the papaya and bananas. Turkeys and pigs roam the macadamia orchids beside us, as well and below us. We also have a small shopping center that provides a grocery store, hardware store and post office just up to the hwy and to the North.

We don't get any hwy noise unless a siren occasionally, from police or ambulance.

We love the rural-ness of the location, yet the convenience of a grocery store, hardware store, post office and a few good restaurants.

We moved to the Big Island in 1987 and built our home in Captain Cook in1988.

We added our two vacation rentals on our 1 1/4 property in 2000.

I Nancy, along with Greg my husband, Host this property.

What makes this apartment unique

It's only a 15 min. drive to Keauhou Shopping Center where you'll find restaurants, grocery store, shops and movie theater. Another 10 min. and you are in Kailua-Kona.

Also only about 12 min. down to Two Step for snorkeling and kayaking.

Many coffee farms and macadamia farms to visit and a must visit is the Japanese

living coffee farm. Several very good restaurants here in the area as well as fresh fish at the local market and fish market. Sundays is the local outdoor market just down the road, where you'll find fresh veg. and fruits.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Peaceful, scenic and be autiful

  • 5 of 5

Pictures of this lanai did not do it justice. I spent a day and a half there enjoying the view and happy birds. Peaceful and scenic, It runs almost the whole length of the very generous studio. Although it seems open it has a very fine screen surround. Kayaking and snorkeling are not far. We were able to enter part of the Volcano National Park closer to the eastern side and were directed to an area where we could see a"rosy glow" from fissure 8. We returned to Captain Cook by another road and were treated to a view of fuming and flowing Kilauea 21 miles away. The whole visit...a treat.

Great view & location. Comfortable bed. Lovely lanai.

  • 5 of 5

This roomy studio offers great views of tropical foliage and the ocean. We enjoyed relaxing and eating breakfast on the huge screened lanai. The neighborhood is so quiet & peaceful; the only sounds we heard were bird songs by day & coqui frogs at night. The king sized bed was comfortable & we slept great. The location was convenient for sightseeing in quaint little towns near by, visiting Greenwell Coffee Farm & the Painted Church, & snorkeling at Two-Step. Make sure to get pizza from Pats Pies, malasadas from Big Rob’s Bakery, & tacos from the Shred Town food truck. There are so many other things to do & see & eat nearby, but all vacations must come to an end. We hope to be back someday. Thanks for providing a great place to enjoy paradise!

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place to relax. You will fall asleep to nature's sound track. The sound of the birds, crickets, among other animals in the mountains was soothing. The washer and dryer in the garage was such a good plus we did know we need. We found out that being in the tropics, it was hard to hang dry wet clothes. So we have to do laundry every couple of days.

We met Greg and his dog Peaberry. They were great hosts. We enjoyed our stay, mahalo!

The property was very well kept and we really enjoyed all the tropical plants and birds.

  • 5 of 5

The view is spectacular! We spent just about every evening having dinner and enjoying the beautiful sunsets. The bed and furniture are comfortable and we had all the utensils and appliances for making meals in. Being close to different coffee houses and plantations was a bonus. We spent many of our days exploring different beaches and coastlines. They provided us with coolers, snorkeling gear, beach towels and chairs which made it even more enjoyable at the beach. We were in shorts and light shirts for most of the time and were able to wash and dry our cloths using the appliances that we had access to. Very quiet and peaceful. We will be coming back and staying again! Thank you so very much for giving us a wonderful vacation.
